View Full Version : Are they talking about denver?

from Great Blue North Report

Meanwhile, more than a few eyebrows were raised by the dismal performance - non-performance might be a more appropriate word - turned in by RB LenDale who weighed in at an overweight 244 pounds, barely posted 15 reps pressing 225 pounds, and didn’t run at all. White claims he didn’t run because he is still affected by a hamstring he pulled at the combine. All that, however, has set off a bit of a buzz that White may have already agreed on terms with a team that's going to take him in the first round and doesn’t want anyone scooping them. Again stay tuned.

I'm still laughing at the Bra qoute. I'd take LenDale White at 22. Anything else is too early. I'm kinda hoping Cutler falls to #15. I'd be curious to see if Shanahan would snatch him up.

so the being fat and lazy recently is not a string of being fat and lazy that is traceable back to his entry into college but is infact an elaborate plot for denver to draft him?

But what good would it do Lendale to be "assured" of being picked at the very end of the Round. It was a lock beforehand that he would be picked somewhere in the 1st.

I have no idea. I'm still trying to figure out why he'd think it was a good idea to go to his Pro Day looking like he'd been on the Body By Bob program.

I'll begin to try to believe any of the innuendo that I've seen on this forum only after it's been proved, the Broncos have been fined and the TJ homeboy's agent has been suspended.

Short of that, I'm not swallowing the conspiracy angle.

Collusion over a single player is just way too prohibitive of a risk for anyone in the league to even think about. It would end careers, permanently stain the legacies etc. if found out. I just dont think anyone in a position of power like a GM or HC would even think about it. The risk you are taking on is astronomical.

Far too much risk involved, especially for an unproven commodity. The negative possibilities far outweigh the positives in this situation.

Well, he is from Denver maybe he wants to play for the Broncos plus if he has alrready agreed to a contract I'm sure it's a pretty good one.

Getting Holmes/Jackson at 15 and White at 22 sure would impact the offense.

I don't either. Maybe Shanny would say something like. "Boy, Lendale I sure hope you fall to 22." The Lendale goes out and does things to make sure he does, but I don't even think Shanny would offer him a contract.

No way he's sabotaging his stock unless its for a top 10 team. Thats the only way there is a payoff for White and his agent, since he was a lock top 15-20 before his horrible pro day.

Thats true, but the seasoned vets that are scouts and GM's of the NFL probably know that by putting a small bug in a kids ear they can probably manipulate him a little. If our guys are in there telling Lendale, "hey look, it doesn't really matter what you do from here on out... your our guy with one of our first round picks", he knows that the worst he can do is 22. They're not telling him to slouch. They've just put the bug in his ear that he doesn't have to work anymore b/c he's gonna get picked up and make his millions. Just a thought.

While I would love to believe that White so desperately wants to be a Bronco he's willing to make himself look like a turd to the rest of the teams in the leauge, it seems too absurd. In order for this to have any substance, Lendale would have had to approach the Broncos and say "I'll do whatever I need to do to be a Bronco". That's a lovely thought, but unlikely at the very best.

LOL this is one of the funniest "off season" rumors Ive heard in awhile. There is no way in the world Shanny offered the kid a contract before the draft. It would be insane and certainly not worth the risk.

Sorry if this was posted earlier.

Adam Shefter just told Rich Eisen that a "team picking in the teens promised Lendale that no matter what they would draft him" That they told him not to run. He sounded really confident about this, kinda like when he used to have the inside dirt on a story coming out of Denver.

He also disagreed, when Eisen told him what Mark Mayock thought about Lendale dropping out of the 1st round. He said that it was kinda crazy to think that he would drop out of the 1st round, that Lendale had done nothing (no pun) since the Rosebowl.

If Schefter is acting like that, since he is a Shanny lapdog, the team probably fed him that stuff to throw out. In that case, it means we are not interested in White AT ALL.

This is the more likely thing. Shanahan leaks crap all the time and come draft day, everyone - including us - are left with our jaws hanging open.

With that in mind, we probably won't be taking: Jackson, White, Kiwanuka or Hali.

Herc,
what has he done outside of the Pro Day debacle (I assume there has to be something else since the phrase you used implies a string of bad conduct) that has made you sour on him? Surely you cant be referring to the combine, because no one ranked highly does anything there. What else has he done this offseason to make him a "turd"?

I can't see Shanny promising anything to anybody in the draft, and if he did, it's probably a smoke screen...but still, should be interesting.

Let me re-phrase and take out "since the Rose Bowl".

1. Ability to barely stay eligible.
2. The weight balloon before the Rose Bowl. I don't care how well he did as a fatty, he knew he had the NC game coming up and he couldn't control himself during the holidays.
3. Pro Day
4. Comments at the Pro Day that it doesn't matter since he's the only power back slated to go that high
5. Comments by former teammates at the Pro Day that he's not a hard worker.

NFL | Team telling White they will draft him
Tue, 4 Apr 2006 18:52:09 -0700

Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports there are some behind-the-scenes talk of USC RB LenDale White not slipping in the NFL Draft as some stories have gone since his poor performance at his Pro Day workout Sunday, April 2. One team drafting in the 20s recently encouraged White not to run before the NFL Draft so it can pounce on him with its selection in the first round. Another team in the mid-teens already has told White it plans on drafting him.
