Man a torandoe was in the area golf ball size hail. Quarter size was pounding my apartment. city sirens going off. We are in a lull and then it seems another cell will pass thru. Also the flower bed look like it was covered in snow there was so much hail.

Hum it got really quiet no wind no rain and no hail. It was very eerie. Will keep ya updated

I was getting off work and the reciptionist said I needed to go straight home b/c she knew I lived in Arkansas and said a tornadoe was headed home. So I drove straight home and lighting cloud to ground was striking every minute it seemed. And then I ran into hail. by the time I arrived home Hail was coming down constantly. Look like a fed ex plane drove by and dropped 800 thousand ping pong balls. I ran in to look at weather station and weather channel, and interent. My friend called and said get in closet and then the hail quit and all was eeriy quiet. But some more "super cells are popping up west of me and the NWS announced a extended tornadoe watch. So the lull is nice I got all my stuff in a closest just in case and am ready and tracking the storm until it arrrives. It seems to be strengthen though. My weather station has falling barometer again, and dew point is high, so recipes for a major storm. I saved some hail and will try to post the pic when i get a digital cam. Will keep updates coming.

I dunno if my nerves are acting up but type 72301 into weather . com and that is what is coming

my personal weather station is falling and the dew point is still relatively high so great ingredinents for active storms. And in flying colors i have taken several shots b/c if i die I will be relaxed. lol. but seriously We still have about fiteen minutes.

It wasnt to bad here realy the hail sucked. The Tornado went south of West Memphis and one went slightly north of a smaller town about 5 minutes north of W.M. both went through about the same time.

There had been reports of four inch hail that tore thru a mobile home last nite. however most of the extra large hail fell in rural areas. Looks like my city missed most of the damage though. Any how the sun is shining again and looked like nothing was ever amiss.

Last night sucked in INDY too. All the people in town for the final four and severe weather sirens going off at 10 pm. Had to pull my Kids out of bed and seek shelter too. And, I live in the safest place from a Tornado in INDY.

I was flipping burgers on my grill and drinking beer Friday night when my mom calls and tells me to take shelter. Couldn't leave the burgers!
Sorry, nothing too tragic to report.

I'm in Tennessee, and nothing came near to me, but one of my co-workers said she saw a funnel cloud touch down in the woods right near her house. She and her hubby ran to the closet until it cleared.

Something like 17 people died in Tennessee last night . . .

Scary stuff.

If it touched down, doesn't that make it an actual tornado?

those winds were damn strong, i was sittin on the computer thinkin its just a bad storm and there there was a huge gust of wind but it wouldnt stop it just kept going for about 3-4 minutes just one solid gust of wind then i found out there was a tornado a couple miles away ihave a feeling it went right over my house sounded like a jet was flying really low exept stopping over my house for a couple minutes . I was in a poker tournament too i was pissed i got disconnected and lost my money. It blew over fairly quickly though. I had no clue that it was a tornado warning untill after the main cell passed.

Bronco in TN.

We were lucky here about 15 miles south of Nashville.

It looks like the most severe damage was just west of here and up into KY. The area between Memphis and Jackson always seems to get the worst of it. The storms diminished quite a bit before blowing over the Mid-TN area but it was scary for about 10 minutes around 2 AM.

Excuse my ignorance, but is the reason people go in the closet because they don't have basements? Does it protect them from flying glass? Is there another reason?

Well one you need to be in the center of you home. next it does protect you against glass or other flying items. next you have more support around you to help protect you. Another place to go is a bathroom in the center of your house and get in the tub.

They're hoping they'll bump into Tom Cruise in there. That, and the flying glass thing.

I live in Birmingham and we may leave work early today because a potentially strong storm is going to pass through here, starting in the afternoon and lasting through the night hours.

Schools are shutting down today at 1 p.m. and most of the schools have cancelled games tonight and their proms as well.

I'm not worried having a solid basement overbuilt, tornados seek and destroy mobile homes and modulars without basements. Had some heavy rain to the north but the snow was gone so I doubt it floods and I'm away fromt he river anyway. Sassy is probably fighting both rain and melting snow. Red River flows north so it's not able to drain very fast.

Im pretty much north of tornado alley, just on the edge, but usually they are more wimpy in N. Iowa, rarely more than F1 or 2 here. I keep seeing someone in a bathtub flying over Oklahoma complete with mobile home.
