Damn, not looking good for my Tribe.
Jason Michaels is not COCO CRISP, going by thus far early in the season.
That blown scoring chance in the top of the 3rd was just like last season, brings back painful memories.
And now CC Sabathia left the game with an injury.
What a great start, someone please pass me the beer.

I think they pulled him to be safe.

It was the right move to pull him as you said. Its the first game and you dont want your ace to get injured in the season opener.

What a surprise. He's only 60 pounds overweight. Guys like Slobathia don't realize how blessed they are so they squander their talents.

CC dropped 20 pounds from last season and he has won at least 10 games in each of his first five seasons in the league. He's the anchor of the staff and a team leader, so I ask again,
How is he squandering his talent? Do you even watch him pitch the past number of years or are making those laughable comments based on tonight's game.
He strained something, it could happen to any pitcher.

You're the one who's laughable. He's got the frame and the arm to be one of the best pitchers in the league and he settles for far less because he'd rather be a fat sloppy pig. I guess its too much to ask a professional athlete to exhibit a reasonable level of physical conditioning. If you think pushing three bills and looking like a sweaty sack of chewed fudge fits the bill then that's your problem.

CC, when he first came in, was out of shape but he has worked hard to get into shape, he's not there but has dropped his playing weight by 50 pounds.
He has talent to win 20 games and I hope he gets to that number this year.
CC is this century's Sid Fernandez.

What a left handed compliment.
Go examine El Sid's career. By the age of 27, when most players' talents are peaking, he was taking nagging injuries and missing starts on his way to a disappointing career. The same thing will happen to Sabathia if he doesn't get into shape and stay in shape.

I know about Sid's career but the comparisions come from both of their frames and frankly, their gerth.
CC has to lose weight and he's only 25 and he's on a strict pitch count by Eric Wedge.
I think he can get it done.

The Tribe lost Howry to the Cubs and traded away Rhodes.
The bullpen is the big question mark for the Tribe this season.

The Sox have the best starting rotation I think in baseball.
Getting Thome was big, he's going to be great protection for Konerko and Dye.
He finished spring training on fire.

1:20AM and still 9 outs to go. I'm staying awake for all 9. Brandon looks good so far.
So happy for Dye's 3 for 3; he deserves a few cheapies. He had such a bad start last year, that any early season life from him would be huge for the Sox.
The Thome homer gave me adrenaline!!! Oh the possiblilities. Didn't realize he's torn up US Cellular to that degree.
Could be a fun year So Cal. Great thread and Go Sox!!

He gets me juiced. I haven't been so pumped about a young Sox pitcher since Black Jack McDowell, and he kind of reminds me of that loose jerky delivery.
Or was it when Baseball Digest featured all of the young White Sox lefties??

Hell yeah!! Steve "Rainbow" Trout, Britt Burns and Ross Baumgarten. They also had another lefty named Ken Kravec too. The late 70's, early 80's Sox showed you 4 southpaws. Very rare.

I love Damaso Marte, but he has been guilty of train wreck innings over the last few years, although his overall numbers are good. Marte gave the Sox the best lefty relief work since the short tenure but great work of Scott Radinsky.
But with Marte's recent blowups; I love how Ozzie got another proven lefty Relief Arm. Welcome Thornton!!!

Lol, I know who he is. He was a bust on Seattle. But know there's a lot of talk on the M's blogosphere that the Mariners screwed up with him (a lefty that can throw 95+, which we could really use right now...****!). Apparently, Don Cooper looked at tape for a couple minutes and made a quick fix on his mechanics (I'm talkin' the simplest of simple here). The next game after he (in ST) pitched like 3 scoreless innings with 3 k's and no walks (I think). Walks were his big problem. So now there's some M's fans freakin' out over his newfound effenciency (although over a short period). I bet Bavasi and CO. are punchin' themselves...
****! I'm watching the game now. He is POUNDING the strike zone. He is a different pitcher now. Consider him a steal if he performs like this the rest of the year...

Thornton threw hard and well last night and Damaso Marte just got quickly wracked up in Milwaukee, in his Bucco debut. 1 batter, 2 runs came in.
Ouch Damaso; good riddance.
