View Full Version : Undrafted Free Agent Round

SoCalBronco
03-24-2006, 09:13 PM
We are almost done with the OrangeMane Mock Draft.

Here are the rules for the Undrafted Free Agency Round that will begin shortly after the draft. Once the draft is complete, those teams who failed to make picks have forfeited those picks and do not have any special rights in this round merely because they had picks remaining that they did not make within the time period of the draft. Use it or lose it. Once the UDFA round starts, we are all even.

1. Each team will begin with $50,000 in signing bonus money to hand out. You will basically bid for prospects with a chunk of that signing bonus money.
The minimum bid is $5,000. When you are involved in a bidding war for a prospect, you must bid at least $1,000 more than what the previous high bid was for a prospect and all bids must be a round number in the thousands (i.e. 1k, 2k, 10k, 3k, 13k etc, not 2,521 dollars, or 7,346 or 1,260 or something like that).

2. When you are in a bidding war and you are bidding on some prospect that someone else has bid on, please quote their post and then write in your bid below the quote, with the Name of the prospect, school and your bid amount.

3. All you need to write down for an opening bid (or as noted above, when your outbidding someone else) is just the 1) name of the prospect, 2) his school and 3) your bid amount.

4. We will spend a full day on each position with an opening time posted and closing time posted. We will catagorize everything into 9 positions (and therefore 9 days).

RB (both HBs and FBs in this one day)
WR
TE
OL (all OL in one day)
DL (all DL in one day)

Just an idea, but wouldnīt it be more realistic if the owners didnīt know what the other offer was?

I think teams do know what it is on Draft Day, Jens. When your calling a guy up right after the draft and he declines you, he (or his agent) will probably tell you that your bonus offer is less than some other team by a certain figure. In fact it is in their interest to do precisely that so that they can trigger a bidding war. If everyone is left in the dark, you dont have the competitive market forces working as efficiently as they otherwise could.

In addition, for practical reasons, since we all wont be here at the same time in the day, everyone would be at a disadvantage if say they all PMed me their bids, because I couldnt constantly update who has previously bid telling them they are now not the high bidder. With it all out in the open, you can see where you are at any time, whether youve been outbid and by how much.

I'm going on a business trip all next week. So if you want somebody to be active with the Jets you will probably want to get somebody else to do it.

Who wants to be the Jets since Rascal will be out of town?

Only rule is that you cant already have a team

First one to accept gets it.

Yep...im looking at about 13 guys right now, hopefully I can land about 5 or 6 of them.

Right now we are waiting on Pittsburgh for the final selection and then we will get underway with Day 1 of the Free Agent Round where the bidding will be on the QBs.

The Post-Draft Undrafted Free Agency Round has now officially begun.

It is 1 AM PST Monday morning March 27th. We are now in Day 1 of this period and until this time tomorrow (1 AM PST Tuesday, 2AM Rocky Mtn, 3AM CST AND 4AM EST) the bidding will be solely for undrafted QBs (including those players who are projected to be "Athletes" in the NFL or to be playing another position in the league, but played QB in college.

Let the bidding wars commence.
Please remember to read Rules 1, 2 and 3 above and comply with them when you are making your bids and re-upping those bids in response to another person outbidding you.

DAY 1- QUARTERBACKS- has begun.

Tennessee Titans make an opening bid of $5,000 for QB Barrick Nealy, Texas State.

Strengths:
Has excellent size and an ideal frame...Very athletic with good speed...Mobile and can beat you with his feet...Has a good arm...Throws well on the run...Was very productive in Division IAA...Team leader with top intangibles...Has a lot of upside.

Weaknesses:
Did not play against a high level of competition...Very inconsistent with his accuracy...Did not play in a pro style offense...Raw and will need a lot of work on his technique and mechanics...Might have to change positions at the next level.

Notes:
Was the starter at Houston in 2002 but tore his ACL and ended up transferring in '04 when Kevin Kolb emerged...Could potentially move to wide receiver as a pro...Definitely has some physical tools to develop...A premier sleeper prospect.

Bid was made at 8:24 AM.

hey eddie mac is 9 PM PST ok for you? We have to make a little more fair for the people in the Eastern Standard time zone and ofcourse for you over there. Reason why I chose 9 was that even for the easterners it would only be midnight as opposed to 4 AM under the old 1 AM PST rule.

I'm okay running with whatever format suits most of the posters. As your clocks havent gone forward yet and ours have there's 9 hrs time difference between Pacific Time and GMT here in the UK at present, I think your clocks go forward this weekend.

Damn youve bid on three DL already.
I lost Grady Jackson this offseason. I know I drafted Worten but I really don't have much depth at DT. Cullen Jenkins was a DE and is a bit undersized. He was a starter last year. Donnell Washington has yet to step it up and Ryan Pickett could use some help. The Pack only had 5 DTs on the roster. My bid for James Wyche is because he has good value right now, its not really a need with Mario Williams, KGB, and Aaron Kampman on the ends. Jolly was pretty good in the senior bowl (?) or was it the North/South game.

DBroncos4life
03-31-2006, 11:26 PM
Well I was looking and I think it might be overkill now but you can never have enough bodies in camp. Plus the Packers allowed 125 yards per game rushing. Overall the D was good, but that was pretty poor.
