(4:00 PM): DeAngelo stakes his claim… In an effort to be the draft's second best RB available after USC's Reggie Bush, DeAngelo Williams of Memphis put on quite a show at his Pro Day today. Williams measured in at a solid 5-foot-9, 207 lbs. and ran his 40s in 4.40 seconds (with the wind) and 4.48 (against). He also ran the short shuttle in 4.10, the three-cone drill in 6.57 and the long shuttle in 10.61. In addition, he had a 34˝-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-9 broad jump. Williams also showed his versatility by catching the ball well during positional drills. Williams, who is battling with Minnesota's Laurence Maroney and USC's LenDale White to be the second runner selected after Bush, is on the short side but is fast, tough and a team leader.
Impressive, should help him out in fighting off Lendale White.

Everyone likes White because he is big and i like him also but I think D. Will. is a much better RB.

Yes, I think it does. With those three, and things go somewhat smoothly, it does. anybody else and we don't get a pass rusher, and I would agree, but with those three, I think we will be steamrolling...

The Broncos won their two Super Bowls without a stud pass rusher, so while it's nice to have, it doesn't automatically mean a Super Bowl. Besides, other than DT Bunkley, I don't see a stud pass rusher in this draft ready to contribute immediately.

Also, why DW2? Don't you mean LT2? Why would he be a clone of himself?

NO, I'm in love with Superbowl TROPHIES...
And if we get DW2, we are going to get SUPERBOWL TROPHIES...
Watch this guy more than "just highlights", but actually game-time action and watch the entire game and you will see what I mean. This guy is top notch talent, a real football player with great leadership skills and on-the-field production...

Play2Win, I don't deny that. Like I stated, I've seen 5-6 games of him. It's not near enough for me to formulate a discreet opinion on him, but I won't say he's the next LT based on what he did in college. He's an extremely talented player and I would welcome him on the Broncos. However, I think there are better fits, Maroney is one of them -- but that doesn't mean Maroney is the better player. Williams is a fine receiver out of the backfield and Maroney's hands are suspect at best.
I like Maroney's size and fit in our system over DeAngelo though. I know DeAngelo was able to run through and inbetween the tackles in college, but can he do that at the next level?

DW2 is very good, i've seen alot of his games, he's a mix of LT & Portis IMO

Sure beats politics. Ha! We WILL NOT take a back before at least the late second. Bell, Dayne, and Cobb can all run the rock. I'd like to get a back that can catch besides Kyle, who isn't on the field alot on third down.

Yeah, but he had to run thru and inbetween defensive tackles before he even got to his own swiss cheese of a line.
5 reasons to like DW:
1. Thirty-four 100-yard games (NCAA record)
2. 7,337 all-purpose yards (NCAA record)
3. 6,026 career yards rushing (trails only Ron Dayne, Ricky Williams and Dorsett)
4. Balance, Instincts, and Tackle-breaking ability
5. Won the Inaugural ARA Sportsmanship Award
6. Only Barry Sanders could do what DW did behind Memphis's weak line, only DW can do what Barry did behind Detroit's weak line.
"He's got great balance, he's got great vision. The sign of a good back is his ability when he sees a hole he can make the cut and not stumble through it.
A running back that runs like a low-profile race car is what you're looking for, and that's what he runs like."
-Mike Nolan
"He truly represents what you want to have in a football player. He's achieved on the field, in the classroom and off the field, in the community. How great it would be if all athletes conduct their lives as he has."

I keep going back and forth between DeAngelo and LenDale...I'm starting to lean towards DeAngelo again because of the demension he'll add as a receiver.

He was 5'9" at the combine as well if I recall, he was listed by Memphis at like, 5'11" though.

Try actually watching him play in a game. He's a LT2 clone...
Mike Anderson is more like Q than DW2 is...

Yep. He's the total package. And...he would be a REDICULOUS zone blocking back. Unstoppable.
He should be a Bronco.
