Alright guys im deciding on what college im going to next and ive narrowed it down to 2 schools. Univeristy of Arizona and University of Northern Colorado.

Now heres my dilema, as some of you may remember i tore my mcl during two a days this year and made it back for the season. I ended up tearing 4 tendons in my ankle 5 games into the season but kept playing on it, by the
7th week of the season i couldnt even practice except for walk-thrue cause my ankle was so bad but i kept on playing.

also the whole season somthing felt wrong with my knee but i couldnt figure it out cause my mcl was supposedly healed. about a month ago i finally gave in an MRI it turns out when i thought i just tore my mcl, i actualy tore my mcl, acl, medial meniscus, and lateral meniscus. and ended playing the whole season with no acl and torn up cartilage.

now i tore my acl and medial meniscus after my sophmore year too. so ive had 2 acl reconstructions , 2 medial meniscus repair, 1 lateral meniscus repair, 5 torn ligaments in my ankle in my highschool career.

Now heres my dilema if I go to U of Arizona it means im done with football, if I go to Northern I will have to walk on and red shirt my first year.

I want to be able to be active when im older cause I just cant not play sports its not in me not to.

i know alot of people on here have experiences with injuries and i respect many of your oppinions so im just wondering on what you guys would do in my situation. Its just a hard time for me right now and i just feel like if i can get some other people thoughts on what they would do or have done it would really help.

Dude stay the hell off of turf - I lost my ACL, stretched my MCL and had a surgery to replace my PCL all because I went waterskiing before spring football camp - needless to say my football career and scholarship were done. I hit some wire in the water and it hyperextended my knee joint when I fell breaking my knee joint in a few place. Just play football to play and if you start a game or 48 games it's all good. Also, look at the schools in each area and see if they are recruited by larger schools. And hell, if UA is in your sights why not come a play at UNLV here in Las Vegas - trust me, if the football doesn't work out, something will in this city. It is so new and growing sooo fast with all of your generous gambling contributions - there really is no limit for young people. We also have a mini pro league in football and arena ball team.

Both are good schools. If you go to Tuscon the women are salivating, Ft. Collins isn't shabby either. I can't tell you what to do. If your an athlete you need to adress that first, then decide what you want to do.

I have been to both..I attended CSU and went to ASU on the debate team at DU..g.the women at Tuson are outrageous, CSU isn't as crazy but it's not a bad university. Both would be fine. ASU is huge, CSU not so much. It's a little smaller for sure. Just my 2 cents.

If you wanted my real advice I would say stay close to home and you get alot of tuition advantages. Your still a kid, don't stray too far from the pond for a couple years.

First, he said University of Northern Colorado. Secondly, you must have really sucked at debate.

Watermock’s opponent: America is a great country because it is a free country. In addition, America is a free country because our Constitution limits the powers of presidents, senators, prosecutors, and police officers. If government officials had carte blanche power to wiretap our phones, search our homes and arrest our friends, our country would not be free.

I have blown out my knees 4 times, each one twice. One knee was the triple special, they pulled 140cc's of fluid out of it just so it would bend. I never had surgery cause I wanted to play baseball in the spring, I spent almost all of HS on crutches. I am almost 30 now, and I am very limited in what I am capable of now. as a Freshman in HS I was squatting 350lbs now I doubt I could give someone a decent piggyback ride. I would sit it out and go to AZ, if you let your knees heal you will be able to be active and play in intermural and rec leagues well into your 40's. but that is just my opinion.

As much as you would like to be playing football, I wouldn't chance it with those injuries. If there's a degree program you really like at Arizona, take it. It will be much more valuable than a questionable pro career...

KB,

Hang em up for a couple of years and rehab the hell out of those knees. Once you are able to get them to 100% again, reevaluate your interest in playing football. There are more options out there if you want to play.

If you do not get them to 100% NOW, you never will and leave yourself open to increased chances of arthritis and all kinds of other debilitating conditions. You are young and able to heal better than you even will right Now.

I have had two ACL surgeries and a Discectomy on my L5 disc in my back. I took the time to fully rehabilitate the first two and neither has given me a problem. The second ACl has never been the same since I rehabbed it to about 85% and entered Graduate school. I have tried hard to get it to 100% for a year and am still farther away than I should be! I am also an excellent healer, 35, and a diligent rehabilitator.

Heal First, and then your options will be open. Fail to Heal and You may never be the same!!!

Hey bud, its all about what you value. If school is where you plan to make your mark, I would definitely look at the U of A. It has more name recognition, it will help you out more in the working world I would say. Then again, a bachelors degree is just your foot in the door in most cases unless you are going to Notre Dame, Michigan or some Ivy League schools.

IF you wish to continue playing football, UNC is not a bad school to play for. They have just moved up levels to I-AA and they have done very well on that level from what I understand. There are good football players on that level. I would not be surprised to see a bunch of players that washed out from CU, CSU, Utah, Wyoming that all end up playing there. I myself starting playing football at the University of Hawaii. I hurt my knee, they changed coaching staffs and it was better for me to move on so I transferred to Missouri State, a I-AA program. I expected the talent to stink and it wasn't going to be "real" football. Believe me, my eyes opening with the talent we had. Our starting QB transferred from Ohio State, we had a HB from U of Texas, a FB from Michigan, a WR from Ole Miss, and DL from Illinois and Nebraska just to name a few... oh yeah, I also got to play against a few buys by the name of Edgerton Hartwell, Will Allen, and Boomer Grisby.

My point being... there are good football teams and players at the I-AA level. If you have a passion to play, it would not be a bad choice for you. It is without a doubt much tougher to be a student-athlete than just a student... however it is so much more rewarding when you finish your degree and the things you will learn along the way with your brothers.

GOOD LUCK!

Its a tuff thing to decide I know Ive been there. I cut my basketball career short due to knee & ankle injurys. Now Im married with 2 kids im happy I did not risk further injury and hopefully wont have problems if/when I have grandrugrats running around.

The other side is I pull the occassional Al Bundy in a way and wonder what if. I hate the fact I was unable to play longer then I did but for the long haul of life for me I made the correct decission.

Go to AZ, concentrate on school and call it a career on the gridiron. If you go to Northern Colorado, your academics will suffer and chances are that you'll end up hurt again.

I go to school at Northern Arizona Univ. Arizona women are really hot, best i've seen. Tucson and Phoenix they don't bother so much with clothes. Flagstaff is alot like Colorado, just fewer people. Of the big Arizona colleges, I think U of A is the way to go. NAU is the smallest of the 3 state colleges, kind of like UNC. It is the college to go to if you don't want it hot, you still want some of the girls from the southern part of the state, don't feel like paying as much tuition, and want things to do outside. I almost went to CU, I don't regret for a second coming here.

what decision would I regret the most on my death bed?

Normally I'd encourage a move to Colorado but I am a graduate of the UofA (1996). It seems to me if a long term career in sports isn't very realistic it makes sense to go to the school that has the best program for your choosen profession. My guess is you may be undecided?

I know the UofA has totally revamped the place since I graduated. They built an entire freshman wing under the UofA mall. The mall is where thousands of beautiful women lay around and get sun tans. :pimp:

I can't speak too much about Northern Co. I've only been up there a few times when I moved back to town to see the Broncos practice.

Anyhow if you need anymore info on UofA drop me a pm or feel free to give me a call. I can tell you more about the school/Tucson in general as I lived there for many years.

Any place in Colorado is better than Arizona. Duh.

Do you like outdoor activities? Would you like to see the spectacular Rocky Mountains every day of your life?

Would you like to see every Bronco game on free TV? Would you like to be bombarded with Bronco gear everywhere you look? Would you like to have Bronco news 24/7 on talk radio?

I rest my case.

UNC is small, the town sucks, but the campus is alright looking, and your an hour from Denver.

U of A has way better girls. What's your major gonna be? UNC is a decent biz and education school.

If I were you, I'd go U of A.

Bronco_Beerslug

If you have a chance to go to the U of A I'd jump on it!!!
I can tell you from experience that you want your knees and ankles in working order when you get some years on you.

Besides that, if you aren't married, desert girls are the main crop down there.

Yeah, bro. I went to U of A all the way from Virginia. Go there. It take some time but the place grows on you. I recommend living in the dorms. They've built some new ones so those would be ideal. nevertheless alot of people live off campus there first year, i did, but i wish i would have gotten into the dorms. its just way easier to meet people. my point is that most dorms suck but its more about the contact with students. plus there so many women, the weather is great most of the time and theres plenty of intramural sports to keep you busy. i played in all sorts of leagues there and had a great time. good luck and let me know the first time you get booted out of Maloney's for being to drunk.

That's really tough. My son had the same thing happen in high school. Tore his knee in the 5th game in his junior season. Healed nicely though and he was able to play by the 3rd game of his senior season. A great DE. 8th game of that season he tore it again. The Dr. told him he had a minimum of 2 years healing.....and the football scholarships went away. He did get a math scholarship and basically gave up on football. Luckily his love for the sport got him in contact with the coach who at one time had coveted him. He now works on the football team, learning the game better, with a look to the future as a possible coach. It's worked out well.

As much as I'd hate you to hurt your knee again maybe going to N. Colorado would leave your options open and even if you don't go out for football again at least you'll feel like you had a choice. Besides which school would be the best to be at if you wanted to go to a Bronco game? :yayaya:
