View Full Version : Would You Go To Jail For This?

I haven't seen a thread on this so far, but I'm sure everybody has heard it by now. A Pittsburgh Steeler has a brother who was sentenced to 6 months in jail. He was supposed to report to jail before the SuperBowl.
Instead of reporting to jail, he went to the SuperBowl, watched his brother from seats on the 50 yard line, and then went and partied with Snoop Dogg after the game.
The result? The judge tacked on I believe 4 1/2 more years to the sentence. The brother said he'd do it again.
So this begs the question, is there something in this world you want to do so badly that you'd go to jail for it? And before anybody answers, I'm going to quote Lyle from Office Space right now: "Two chicks at once."
If the Steelers had lost the AFC title game, this would have never happened ;) ... his sentencing date was still January 6, but he could have turned himself in a few weeks sooner.
I figure it kind of serves him right since his brother was so "convinced" they'd be in the Super Bowl. I'm glad he's getting the extra 4.5 years.

Only for a cause I really believed in. I can't think of any kind of fun moment that would warrant several years in the slammer.

No, I can't say there is. I hope that guy had a damn good time, because that seems like quite the price to pay!
Now if we're talking about someone hurting one of my kids......oh hell yeah. Revenge would be mine, screw the jail time.

The guy may be a moron, but the judge is even worse. Telling me the state has to pay for four and a half years of jail time because some guy partied one night and was tardy for his damn court date? Damn, don't want him roaming the streets!

I don't like taxpayers footing the bill either, but the guy knew the consequences before he made the stupid decision. We give criminals way too many second chances as it is ... plus, there's probably more to the story than what was printed. What kind of criminal history does the guy have? That could have been a factor as well.

In the good ole' soviet union they used to either send prisoners to siberia or throw them over bridges tied together to drown...
Easy on the tax dollars and very efficient if you ask me. I don't know why i have to pay for these lunatics to live another day anyways, prison only makes them worse.

To save or protect a loved one is the only thing I can think of, but not a football game or anything else so frivilous.

Not really. The only real factor here was the guy was a nobody with a criminal record.
Koren Robinson showed up to his trial for a DUI (I think) drunk and he got a few days. Courtney Love got arrested yet again and violated previous conditions of parole by being high etc. Celebrities get by doing a lot worse than just being tardy for a court appointed date.
Same **** with Real Estate Agencies, Banks, Insurance Corporations etc. If any of these guys are late, misplace your records, make a clerical error etc, which they quite often do, most of the time they get away with it and file it under "human error" if caught.
But try repeating that as a private citizen and tell your bank it was due to "human error" that your failed to pay your mortgage this month and the matter is being resolved as you speak and see what kind of reaction that brings from the bank's attorneys.

Precisely.
Anyone who has never been to jail might say yes to this question. Anyone who has ever been to jail will resolutely say no to this question.
4 and a half HOURS is too ****ing long.
My brother can send me a tape of him in the Superbowl in 6 months. I damn sure aint spending another 4 1/2 YEARS locked up.

And before anybody answers, I'm going to quote Lyle from Office Space right now: "Two chicks at once."
Samir: [trying to decide if he should go along with the virus plot] I have a question.
Peter Gibbons: Yes?
Samir: In... in these conjugal visits, you can have sex with women?
Peter Gibbons: Yep, you sure can.
Samir: OK, I'll do it.
Michael Bolton: If we get caught, we're not going to white-collar resort prison. No, no, no. We're going to federal POUND ME IN THE ASS prison.

I don't believe I'd put myself in the situation to begin with to warrant even being arrested

I personally wouldn't make that choice, but it was probably the right decision for this knucklehead. Chances are he was going to get locked up for something else sooner or later anyway.
I assume his last name is Porter?

I'd take the jail time to avoid being around Snoop Dog, that guy is a grade A douche bag.

You'd be surprised how you can just end up in a situation to warrant being arrested through no fault of your own ;)

Physically defending someone I love is the ONLY thing that would be worth a trip to jail. I like my freedom too well...

Granted, we're all diehard Bronco fans here but come on, one has to separate fantasy from reality. I know some people who have spent time in the joint and thye say it ***king sucks ass. I couldn't imagine spending 5 years guarding my ass to go to a super bowl!

Biggest misnomer ever is that you get raped in jail a lot.
It rarely happens and only to those who talk **** or are gay. Fighting is almost a necessity though, winning is not all that important, just that you fight back.
