Dude, this guy is unreal on Madden '05 after about 2-3 years of development - It's probably safe to say that Madden isn't always right.

Hmmmmm, with this and talk of a QB in the draft, are BVP's days numbered? I'd rather have him than McMahon.

everyone young is good on madden after development. madden has like a zero bust ratio.

so sorry, should we say 'natural madden development' and not player controlled development [clarification] - wow

why does that have a bust rate? haven't played madden in a while but pretty much anyone I started got better, and anyone I left to rot on the bench didnt.
I'd like McMahon in Denver. Younger version of the Snake. Also would make drafting a QB with #15 useless!

Meh the guy backed up Harrington and then couldn't do squat for the Eagles last year after Mcnabb got hurt. I wouldn't get to excited seeing him in the game for Denver.
If they get him lets hope he holds the clipboard all season.
Yuck. Did any of you guys see him play this season? There's a reason Philly jumped all over Garcia.
Yes, I live in Philly..............the guy is just plain out sorry.
Good news. Worst case scenario he pushes BVP and we have another QB who knows our system. He might not make the final roster, but it'll offer some nice protection in case of injuries and who knows, maybe he really steps it up.
With the Bears just signing Griese though I'd like to make a move on Orton, offer a 6th rounder or some crap, its clear the Bears have no desire to see him play for them. He's got a big arm and showed real toughness leading a weak offense as a rookie last season. He played better than a lot of 1st round QBs did in their rookie years, given a few years to develop as Plummer's backup and he could be ready to lead a hell of a downfield passing attack.

I'd take him or Harrington.
He is never going to play much with McNabb there so he might as well get a better chance here as Plummer is going to retire/leave sooner then McNabb will.

The bars in Denver could not hold enough liquor for the 2 of them. Or as they say in the movies "This towns not big enough for the both of us!".
I am baffled as to why DUH Bears would sign SOB now. Whoreton played well enough to win 10 games with the team, he did not win the games on his own but he did not make bad choices. His QB rating is pitiful but that boils down to coaching. With another year under his belt he should get better & challenge Sexy Rexy. THey should have brought in a Vet LAST year, I think this is just to deflect the heat from the fans so when Sexy gets tapped & his glass fibula shatters then they will be able to tell the fans they have a Vet in the wings.
If I were Whorton I would be pissed. When was the last time SOB won 10 games?

Good thought! I like Orton better than McMahon. He's a winner. Actually, I'd be happy with us bringing in anybody just to make sure we don't waste the #15 pick on a QB!

the Eagles wern't exactly tearing it up on offense before Mcnabb got hurt. I say bring him in. The eagles didnt or dont have the weapons that the Broncos have on Offense. I still think the guy deserves a shot with a decent team to see what he can do.

I think Brooks would be a better option, as long as his salary demands were reasonable.
I'd take Harrington or Brooks. The problem with Harrington and Brooks is that they'll likely be looking for places they can fight for a starting job at now or in the near future. We don't need that, Plummer is our QB for at least two more seasons, BVP is showing potential. We just need a guy who can step in and push BVP but will be content with a #2 job for a few years if he outplays him [BVP]. McMahon is a perfect fit if you ask me. He got one hell of a trial by fire in the second half of last year on an iggles team that wasn't that good to start and only got worse as injuries mounted. We've got much better offensive personel and an offensive system that suits his skills.
He could come in and lose the #2 job to BVP for all I care, I just want the FO to have options in case of injury or BVP failing to make the strides needed to establish himself as a legitimate QB at the NFL level. He's good competition and it'll give us three QBs who all have the same skill set. Sounds like a great fit, and he'll probably be real cheap too.

hmmm, you mustve watched a different preseason than i did.
i saw a kid who is tough and can run.
i also saw a kid in the passing game who couldnt hit water if he fell
out of a fvcking boat.
half his passes were so far off his intended target it was hard to even IDENTIFY that target.
mcmahon might at least be a viable backup.
if vanpelt has to play we might as well just forfeit.

I wouldn't trust BVP with a ham sandwich nevermind the QB job should Plummer go down. The guy is a great running back but he had nuts on his chin as a QB against San Diego. We gotta get some depth at QB, if Jake goes down so does our offense like it or not.

Do a little critical thinking instead of jumping to conclusions. How could Shanny close a deal when the player wasn't in town? McMahon never made it to Denver. Not saying he would have signed here, but this (again) has nothing to do with money. It has to do with Shanahan's total inability to make sure that Denver is the first place that someone visits.
McMahon follows Childress to Minny, where he has a real chance to take the starting job if Brad Johnson stumbles. If I was McMahon I wouldn't have wasted my time coming to Denver either, like I said in my previous posts in this thread, here he's competition to push BVP, no way he unseats Plummer.

Here to push BVP? Yeah, Shanny's so satisfied with his QB position that he went after Frerotte and McMahon, Denver reportedly talked to almost every QB at the Senior Bowl, and the initial rumor after the Atlanta trade was that Denver wanted a QB. Yep, the Broncos sound like they're only looking for a 3rd QB.
If McMahon had come here, he's the backup and it would have been up to BVP to show that he still belongs on the team.

Yep. If that's what you saw, we watched different pre-seasons.
Check his stats .... and remember: He barely took a single snap the year before .... plus, Darius Watts dropped two TD passes from BVP in one game - SF (or maybe Ariz.) I'll betcha BVP's stats prove my recollection correct ... his QB rating had to be in the 80s, and he led several TD drives.
Can we find pre-season stats?

I like Plummer, and consider him a poor man's Elway.
Van Pelt looks to me like a poor man's Plummer. He's really got a long way to go as a passer, from what I can tell. Definitely not a guy you'd want to lean on for a long period of time if Plummer went down.
We really screwed up by not bringing in Garcia. What about Frerotte? Did he already sign somewhere?

The Watts argument is weak. He drops passes from everyone.
It's such a trip, because the guy couldn't DROP a pass in college...
In 48 career games at Marshall University, Watts made 272 catches for 4,031 yards (14.8 avg.) with 47 touchdowns. His 272 career receptions ranked fifth all-time in NCAA Division I-A history and were a Mid-American Conference record while only Troy Edwards of Louisiana Tech (50, 1996-98) had more scoring grabs in a career in NCAA Division I-A annals than Watts' MAC-record 47 career touchdowns. Additionally, his 4,031 career receiving yards were topped only by Mike Barber (4,262, 1985-88) in Marshall's history. Nicknamed "Spider," the athletic receiver drew many comparisons to former Marshall star receiver Randy Moss and was one of 11 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation's top receiver, in his first year as a starter in 2001. A team captain for the second consecutive season as a senior, Watts caught 74 passes for 968 yards (13.1 avg.) with 11 touchdowns. A preseason All-America selection as a junior, Watts earned first-team All-MAC honors with 71 catches for 1,030 yards (14.7 avg.) and 12 touchdowns and became the MAC's all-time touchdown receptions leader. He picked up first-team All-MAC accolades as a sophomore in 2001 and was one of 11 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award, posting career bests in receptions (91) and receiving yards (1,417)—a 15.6 yards-per-reception average—to go along with an NCAA-best 18 touchdowns that ranked third on Marshall's single-season list. His 91 catches ranked fourth all-time in Marshall history for a single-season total, and he posted the most catches in a season since Marshall returned to Division I-A competition in surpassing the 90 catches by Moss in 1997. He tied for the second-most receptions in league history, his yardage total was third best and his touchdown total tied him for the second best in league history. He was one of only two true freshmen to see playing time for Marshall, starting four games to record 36 catches for 616 yards (17.1 avg.) with six touchdowns. He also returned 10 kicks for 203 yards (20.3 avg.) with a long return of 51 yards.
I can't believe we don't at least try to get him worked into our return game.
He's just a freakish talent. He's as smooth of a route runner as I've seen us draft in years. He's got speed, gets separation... just seems to have gotten into this funk where he's over-thinking things and dropping balls.
I also wonder if he's just not a poor practice player. Shanahan despises that stuff.
Still, you look at his skills and his college numbers and just salivate at the possibilities. The guy CAN be an NFL star. I'm sure of it. Whether or not he will is a whole other story.
Rock Chalk

Yeah I wasnt really bashing on Watts, just that him saying BVPs numbers were low because Watts dropped two passes is weak since Watts has dropped passes from all QBs he has played with at this level.
For whatever reason that is.

Is it pre-season, yet?
