i don't think she sucks at her job. It is just that Cheney and Rumsfield has the President ear too much. I mean Colin Powell the general during the first Iraq war couldn't get his message over to the President what makes us think Rice can. I think she is just as good as Clinton's Sec of State and I don't mean Warren Christopher either. It is just Rumsfield and Cheney has too much say so. Honestly I mean if I shot some one during a hunting trip my boss would be one of the first ones to know if I was V-P. Espically since what ever I do might I dunno just come back to the President of the USA. The good news is that we are less then 1000 days of this Presidency and we should take heart no one man can destory two centuries worth of history. Other world leaders will not plan any significant treaties or various other international agreements with the USA until after the 2008 elections. Bush is now marked lame duck. His domestic and foreign policies have been a failure. Katrina, Social Sercuity, and selling the Iraq war, Rove should have been able to spin something positive about it all. Any case I really lost faith in this administration when we tortue others and it was approved. Sure it is hard to hold a higher standard but once that is gone it anything goes. It has been worse for the USA and it has been better.

Condoleeza would be a great NFL commisioner and I hope she gets the post. She'd also be the first African American and female NFL commisioner. It's her dream job. If she doesn't try for it now, she might not be able to make another run for another fifteen to twenty years.

I guess we know your opinion on how vital she is to the United States. What's so special about being Secretary of State, the second most powerful person in the Country, compared to being a commissioner of a football league?

Madeline Albright was terrible. Call a spade a shovel.

Albright dated Kissinger as a youth, and she won her nationbuilding war. However, she was sort of scary. Anybody who looked at her had to know she was a Jewish refugee from WWII except, apparantly, her. Maybe Condi can do baseball. A civil war between those owners could only help the game.

Albright had the opinion, like Clinton, that the US should run away from being a superpower......because it was too scary or something. Selling missile tech. to the chinese made her and her boss the biggest idiots of the century.

The lady who as National Security Advisor to the President of the United States said, "I was unaware that it was part of my duties", when it came to defending our nation from terrorist attacks, that was when her job was National SECURITY Advisor.
Then, she disrespected (being kind) all of those people that died on 9/11, including many generals, colonels, cops, fireman, and innocents, when she blatantly PERJURED herself to the 9/11 commision.
As NFL Commish, I would expect the league to fold in 3 seasons tops.

Tags had 20 years in as a sports lawyer. More than a mouthpiece. The question about Tags wasn't that he knew the league finances and structure better than anybody, but whether he could do the political cajoling and network building to do the job. I think young McKay's the guy. I think he was even a ball boy with the Bucs.

WTF are you on? Your quoting McCain as validation? When was he in either Bush administration?
Your insane! If anything, we didn't run away in 1990 and we were agressive in the current war. The chinese would of what would of been called a supercomputer anyway, altho I was opposed to and still oppose their obvious expansionist tendencies which resemble Japan in the 30's.
The idea that either Bush has run from anything is absurd tho. Clinton made the "Peace Treaty on Nuclear Development" remember?

Believe it or not, I wouldn't of minded Davis in there, but he's just too feeble with his age now to handle the pressure, plus, an owner can't be a commish.
Bowlen would be the ideal choice but he's got to run the Broncos. When Shanahan retires he would be an ideal choice.
It's a pretty thankless job honestly. Ok Ok, I'll take it, but only for the money.

I think she is weighing the issues at hand. Will Dick Cheney die of a heart attack or in a tragic hunting accident and Bush promotes her to VP there fore making her the bona fide GOP canidate in 2008 or can she save her reputation and legacy by acting as a commisioner of the NFL? Those two items is what she is weighing

Having teeth that resemble goal posts doesn't qualify a person to be the commissioner of Football.
If Lisa Rice wants to be comfortable as a commissioner she should start with MLB... this way she won't miss out on her usual dose of scandal!

Serious question what does the commissar actual do? I mean how hard can it be at this point? CBA done, the drug policy is standardized, the TV deal is set, what will the next commissioner do?
bendog

Isnt there still some lingering longterm issues on revenue sharing between the owners. Basically Rooney and Bowlen voted against what they really wanted just to get the CBA done.

Bendog, that's really interesting that you are a registered republican. Most of us would gladly vote for a CONSERVATIVE, just not these psycho NEO-conservatives.
It was not conservative, that being a conservation of our resources (money, time, equipment, soldiers, Marines, sailors) to do what Bush did. We should have crushed Afghanistan with our FULL (167,000) military strength, secured the border to Pakistan, and brought out Bin laden's head. Then the 2nd phase would not have Iraq, but to do a slash and burn on the poppy crops in Afghanistan obliterating the money coming into that country that is funnelled to various terrorist groups.
How much happier and better would the world be today if that is what we did?
Sgt. Carlson for President!!! Write me in!!!

And those reasons don't count amputees and other casualties.
But you can't really blame her. The truth, bendog sir, is that she had little or nothing to do with the war decision.... that decision was made starting when Bush Sr. stopped Desert Storm without taking Sadaam out.
As freak15 says, it's the "psycho-neo-conservatives" who formulated the policy, made the decision ... Cheney, Wolfowitz, Kristol, and to an extent Rumsfeld et al ... Condi was just a latter-day accomplice.

Don't forget that she did study for a time at the University of Denver (I am not sure of the dates, someone help). She studied Russian I think. Anyway if she if a Bronco fan maybe we can get a little consideration down the road. I'll take a couple of compensation picks in the 2008 draft for no reason. If she is a good commissioner she'll make my one dream come true-realign the league again and put the Oakland Raiders in the Arena League.
