Ok, I'm not one for being starstruck (about to contradict myself) but tonight, my wife and I went to see the Strokes in Denver at the Fillmore. We ended up dancing next to Drew Barrymore for almost an hour. She wasn't 3 or 4 people away, she was next to us. It was awesome. The show was awesome, and Colorado is suffering winter going out swinging (snow snow snow!).

What a night.

Maybe not worth a thread, but it was so cool, so fun....

Anyone else had "celebrity" experiences?

What a freakin night.

That's pretty cool. My only celebrity stories involved doing shots and smoking pot with BVP, and meeting MA.

Not really with celebs of that magnitude, but I ran over Simon Philips one day, and had lots and lots of drinks with the a.o. Pro Pain, Biohazard, Ektomorf, Crowbar, Death Angel ...

I met Donald Trump, Robin Leach, and Ivanna Trump after Wrestle Mania 4 in a small airport in AC. Trump Plaza had hosted the wrestling and Leach was the ring announcer.

So how does she look in person?

I ran into Gillian Anderson (Scully from X-files), she looked great. However she was only like 5ft tall. I was suprised by her size, or lack of.....

The wife and I met Julia Stiles in London after a theatrical production she was in.

She was really nice and talked to us for a bit. She is too skinny though IMO.

LOL

She was the girl in Bourne Identity and Supremacy (the tredstone computer girl), O, Save the Last Dance, State and Main, and of course the ultimate chick flick 10 things I hate about you.

In the theatrical production she was in, which was a slam against political correctness, she gets bitch slapped by some guy. And he actually slaps her...it was a shock to everyone.

I was Cary Grant's doc the night he died .

That info is in the public domain (that he died) so I am not breaching his confidentiality, but I couldn't give any more details than that.

From Internet Movie DataBase:

Suffered a major stroke prior to performing in his one man show "An Evening With Cary Grant" at the Adler Theater in Davenport Iowa on November 28, 1986. Died later that night at St. Luke's Hospital at 11:22 p.m.

I think it was more of a coke problem. Of course, the rehab robots would say it's all the same, but it's not, trust me. I'd hit it, repeatedly. She's goofy and super hot. I bet she's a little tiger in the sack too. :wiggle: I bet she likes it caveman style.

A few years ago we were up in Aspen, and we ran into Patrick Swayze at one of the local Pizza joints. What was funny was we thought it was him, and we made eye contact. He was looking at us like, yes I am him… but we walked right past him and I believe that disappointed him because we didn’t acknowledge him.

You figure it was 87’ when he did his biggest movie ‘Dirty Dancing’, so we are talking 17 years after. Where’s the love?

Radiohead - August 2001 at Liberty State Park, working my way through the crowd to get closer to the stage. My friend and I got about 100ft from the stage and got stuck in the crowd there. We turned to our left and just like you, there was Drew Barrymore next to us.

Now, its not a celebrity siting per se but you old school hockey fans out there might like this one. Around 1976/77 When I was still an infant, maybe a year or so old, my parents were flying from NYC to Denver to visit our family. It turned out that the Colorado Rockies (before they up and moved to NJ and became the Devils) were on the flight as well. When dinner was served on the flight the stewardess offered to watch me so my parents could eat in peace for a bit. She ended up taking me over to the team and the players watched me while my parents ate. Not that I remember it but my mom loves telling the story evey now and then.

I'm pretty sure Drew dates The Strokes' drummer.

She's probably my #1 "celebrity crush," FWIW!!!

Famous people I've crossed paths with:
- I was an extra on Dawson's Creek so I've been within arms reach of Katie "Mrs. Tom Cruise" Holmes, Michelle "Brokeback Wife" Williams, James Van Der Beek, and Josh Jackson.
- I bumped into Mark Bryan, guitar player from Hootie & The Blowfish, at a Toad the Wet Sprocket show. Talked to him for a bit - very down to earth and very personable.

I fixed Charlie Daniels' laptop when I lived in Durango, hell of a nice guy.

Currently I work at a fairly prestigious vet hospital (as far as vet hospitals go, we're on Animal Planet all the time), so I've met Steve Irwin the Crocodile Hunter and a couple others.

Lance Armstrong's dog had open heart surgery here, but it was supposed to be all hush-hush so I didn't get to chat him up.

that's about it.

I used to see John Gotti on a daily basis and had to stay in the morgue with his dead body overnight locked in. That's the truth...I was looking through the autopsy room when I got bored and opened a few fridges. I sneaked a peek at a few body organs including some parts of brains.

I met Tony Stewart right after he won his first Cup in a bar in his hometown. I've never been a fan of him, really of Nascar either. But I shook his hand and congratulated him. I did tell him I never cared for him, though. He was dick back then (in the media). He was a nice enough guy. I asked him what he was doing there. I told him it wasn't even the nicest bar in town, let alone a bigger town. He simply said, "I'm just a normal guy with a really cool job." Thought that was cool. He was sporting a Disturbed hoody, too. I've heard him tell that story in interviews which is pretty cool.

For those of you that make trips to the mountains here, I'm from Grand Lake. Tim the toolman Taylor has always vacationed up there, and recently, bought some property on the lake. The last delivery I made for the lumberyard up there was part of the roofpack to his new house.

From the two times that i've met him, he seemed like an ass to me. And the contractors that worked on his house seemed to think he was quite the jerk.

I once ran into Erick Dampier at the State Fair when he use to play for the Indiana Pacers. The funny thing is one my good friend's sister use to date him so I knew all kind of stories about the guy. Anyway, we crossed paths and I said, "Hey Damp, you still talking to Stephanie" He walked up slowly to me with a concerned look on his face and said, "shhh" while pointing behind him at this girl who looked like she was straight out the strip club. Banging. What got me was he wasn't even remotely concerned about this random guy(me) at a State Fair thousands of miles away from Indiana who knew who he use to date. I would have been like "what the f*ck is it to you? And how do you know this about me?" But he was cool about it.

Other than that I've met KC Jones, played basketball with Clarence Wetherspoon, ate at the same restaurant with one of the Baldwin boys, had lunch with Bernie Ebbers and Scott Sulivan (from the Worldcom scandal fame) and I once got on stage with Parliament Funkadelic and also got kicked off stage with Parliament Funkadelic. Oh yea I use to live in the same dorm as Ralph Staten, who went on to play with the Baltimore Ravens for a couple of seasons. Everyday when you got of the elevator and opened the door to our hall, all you could smell was weed coming from Ralph's room. The funniest thing about it was that Ralph got kicked out of the football dorm for smoking weed and that is why he was living with us. He really didn't give a shiiit. Also everyday down stairs at the dining hall Ralph would sit by himself and have flowers with him and no joke, every single day he would give those flowers to a new girl who would join him and then proceed to take that girl back to his room. He was a pimp.

When I was like 16 a buddy and me helped George Thorogood move. I was living in Kembelsville, Pa. at the time and heard that he lived right down the road in a townhouse complex called Heritage Village.

One day we decided to just start knocking on doors looking for him and came across this little kid who lived next door to him. He of course was enamored by the coolness of us 16 yr olds :) and said yea I know him he lives next door. He knocked on the door for us cuz we were so cool we couldn't bring ourselves to do it :).

This guy answers the door in a surly mood and berates us for bothering him and George, but then obviously devises a plan. Turns out George was moving the next day and they were looking for help.

Of course we jumped at the chance and showed up the next morning. Mind you, we hadn't seen George yet but were assured that he did live there and we would eventually. Also they would pay us 4 bucks an hour for our help. We're thinking GREAT! Ok, so anyhow we show up and we are working our arses off cuz Georges peeps aint doing a damn thing and why would they? That's what they hired us pain in the arse kids for :)

Anyhow we finally get everthing done and the guys (I reckon his managers and what not) say well kids all we can do for ya now is buy ya lunch. Doesn't look like George is gonna show. Well, needless to say we're pretty bumbed and my buddy who thought he was the next Jimmy Hendrix brought his guitar for an autograph. (I myself have never been an autograph seeker)

So anyhow we're sitting there eating lunch with these guys which came from Happy Acres which was a great little restaurant down the road and in walks George Thorogood. We were in awe.

We went to all his concerts big and small. At the Stone Balloon and the Spectrum.

He says "How's it goin' boys?" sit's down takes a bite of a sandwich and ask's my buddy what he has there. He hands him his guitar, proceeds to try to play Bad to the Bone on it and says "this guitar guitar sucks" with a big smile and we all crack up. Anyhow, he signs it, we finish our lunch, are told our services are no longer needed and go home. GREAT DAY :) Figured I'd split it up. Make it easier to read.

We all got backstage after the show, and hung out with Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Alan White, and some hot groupie chicks. Yep..they still like to party with younger gals. Steve Howe was there, but he seemed paranoid and reclusive. Doesn't like to be around strangers. A great time indeed! Last week i went to see the first round of the NCAA tourny in San Diego and parked in a small lot about 3 to 4 blocks from the arena because i wasn't carrying cash and this one took plastic. As i'm in line to pay my parking fee, i notice a familiar face...or should i say, silhouette..

The very next person in line after me was Jerry West. Apparently in town to scout a little. He looked like he was in a no-nonsense mood so i didn't bother him.. plus, although i heard he was a GREAT player, i have never seen him play, so about the only thing i could think of to say was "nice job with the grizzlies".

Super Bowl 36. We (7 guys) had rented a small house in the garden district of New Orleans. I was riding one of those trolleys that run down to the French quarter when in jumps this guy ( who has obviously been partying) with a posse of girls and sits across from me. I wasn't paying attention to him until I hear his Irish accent. I look up and it's Adam Clayton of U2. I start up a conversation with him (the usual stuff "I'm a big fan ect...") , shake his hand and ask him about the halftime show for the game the next day. I'm a huge U2 fan so it was a bigger deal for me than if it was a Hollywood celebrity.

Going to Red Flag a few years ago I sat and visited with Joe Frazier for about 30 minutes. He was drunk as a skunk and talking all kinds of shiit! Evander was the big thing when I ran into him, Joe's words, "I'd knock his ass out!" He also went on talking about how he was a pussy and wouldn't fly in regular airplanes b/c people frustrated him. He signed auto's for a bunch of us. I've got a picture with him, both of us holding up our dukes. His fists are probably twice the size of mine! The only sad thing about the whole experience is how mind dumb he was/is. I asked him to sign a autograph that said, "Alex, that's a hell of a Left Hook!" He asked for help spelling almost every word...... 4 letter words!!! Sad.

I was excited if for no other reason than to size them up. I'm 6'3" and 200+lbs and while only a handful were as tall as billed, everyone one of them was HUGE. The bummer of it all was it was the night that Owen Hart died.

The bummer of it all was it was the night that Owen Hart died.

That was a sad day, indeed. I was at that show, and I'll never forget it. I went to a wrestling show in Manhattan, KS YEARS ago when Steve Austin was in WCW as Stunning Steve Austin. It was very early, and Steve Austin was just sitting in a chair further down in my row. I guess he was trying to get a perspective of things from the audience. I'm still not sure why he was there. Anyway, I was too chicken to go up to him. I just couldn't believe he was sitting a few feet from me. I missed that opportunity and I regret it to this day...

Tony flew in to Fairmont one time and my nephew got to meet him and talk a long time with him (my brother runs the airport), and got a nice pic with him. These guys fight like tigers on the track. He's hot tempered but that's his personality. He's modeled his driving style after the Intimidator. That is second hand, but that's what Matt told me he said.

sat directly next to Heather Locklear and Tommy Lee at an Aerosmith/G'n'R show in Costa Mesa, CA. very cool people. i guess tommy hadn't yet started drinking. man, heather must be 3'6" tall, if that. hottest dwarf i've ever seen.

tommy lee is a VERY nice guy. at least to his friends.

i was his regular bartender at north ranch country club back when he and heather were together.
i made him his triple sea breeze's and we got pretty friendly.
he even invited me over to his pad for a party or two and asked me to play golf with him on my day off (i didnt play at the time).

in fact, one of those parties was the end of heather and tommy. i remember it well.
she was on the way home the next morning, and he left the house for the country club despite a huge mess and people in the house still. end of marriage.

i dont know about him as a husband, but he was so completely down to earth it would amaze you.

ps- other than knowing a few current and former broncos, my only claim to fame is that my dads best friend is robert redfords brother.

I've lived most of my life in LA and Las Vegas, so I've seen many celebrities. My favorite brush with greatness was the time I almost ran over Herve Villacheze while he was crossing Hollywood Way. Never saw the little bugger. I'm lucky I didn't get shot.
The Hollywood Way in the Valley? Near Burbank Airport and Fry's computer store?

Take me back. I miss L.A.

I was born in Burbank, lived there until I was 12, and moved back in my 20s for a few years.

Ha. He really is an a-hole and you just caught him on a good night.

I will admit the Disturbed hoody thing is cool though.

I met Kenny and Brandon Bernstein a couple of years ago. They were the nicest guys. Sat there and talked to me....very gracious.

Speaking of Nascar run-in's, Michael Waltrip dissed my autograph request at a celebrity golf tourney a few years ago.

I was the first person in the autograph "line" as he walked off a green...but he walks past me and starts from the back of the line working towards me. It was very obvious I was the first person in "line."

To top it off, no lie, he works all the way up the line and signs for the guy next to me then walks off. There's nobody following him back to his cart so I walk behind him and kindly ask "Mr. Waltrip, would you mind signing my program" and he totally blows me off and says "maybe you can catch me later." I wasn't hounding him, he wasn't being mobbed, and it would have taken him about 3 seconds.

Small world. I live on Via Salerno in the hills on the top end of Hollywood Way. I was trying to make it as an actor back then, Had a few bit parts and, like so many others, left town after a year.
