.....but now they are becoming an every day news blip. The incompetence and total lack of protocol is rediculous. The no bid awards by our govermental agencies needs to be outlawed. This are our hard earned dollar which are being tossed about like shredded office paper. http://articles.news.aol.com/news/article.adp?id=20060316231209990001&cid=842

I'm waiting on someone to get a no-bid contract to implement a system to handle contract bidding :)

...why are our representatives sitting on their hands and not raising hell. I'm sick and tired of watching the waste of my tax dollars by govermental agencies. If I managed my budgets the way these agencies do, I would have been filing for bankruptcy years ago. Although I have many bidders who over the years have become good friend, the a$$-rubbing the goverment has perfected is not part of my protocol, and those who do business with me are aware of that fact.

I love their response to the critics of these Halliburton's no-bid mega-contracts: "Halliburton is really the only company who could fulfill this contract anyway."

Then .... WHY NOT OPEN IT UP FOR BIDS?! If a political candidate runs unopposed, they don't cancel the election, do they?

But I'm not sure the Katrina waste in that article would be different under a Democrat administration.

I agree, I think it's an issue of procedure and policies which may need to be revisited and revised, but do not allow the GAO to be the watchdog. That office has been asleep at the wheel for years!
