View Full Version : Baltimoresun reports Ravens offering Ray to Denver
The Ravens are still shopping around middle linebacker Ray Lewis as trade bait, possibly to the Denver Broncos for one of their two offensive tackles, Matt Lepsis or George Foster.

We are set at LB...why in the world would we even entertain such an offer? Lepsis is probably untradable anyway with the new deal he just signed.

First off it has to be BS speculation...........but on a side note after Trevor's interview last night on NFL Network and him talking up Ray so much how bad would that chap his ass if they traded him away. As you can see Pryce is on my shat list. Its a two way street buddy.

The Broncos should take this offer. Really.
Drag it out, get trades worked out verbally, talk to Lewis, and then in the last minute, pull out of the deal ala Mike Tice on draft day!
Al Wilson and Ray Ray on the same team -ridiculous

yeah, since Wilson is better at this point in their careers, it would be for Ray=Ray to play special teams

I gotta become a sports writer, make stuff up without putting any thought into what you are talking about (Ray and Al?) and then send it to print.

I think you just worded it rather oddly. Tice didn't pull out, Billick did...two seperate times, and once on the Broncos. He's a complete fraud and liar, and so is Lewis. We should of signed Carter, he could of played Sam or Will (dunno what side he played on) in a pinch with Williams moving to will. I'm still pissed we didn't get Carter done. It just doesn't make any sense.
Do we have the Predator signed yet? or Burns? Both can play MLB...Williams can play MLB in a pinch. This guy is totally clueless.

Seriously, are we the model team for the Ravens? They want foster and Lepsis, they got Sharpe, pryce, and anderson. They realy love our players. Well, I guesse if I was a GM, I would alway go after Denver players too, afterall, we do have great players and always the best team.

Sure this is BS but if not his would be a killer (little pun for RayRay).
Much, much worse than Dale Carter or any other thug we mistakenly signed. I've never had less respect for any athlete than this criminal. Being a Bronco nut since the days of Otis, Upchurch and company, this would seriously drive a wedge into my desire to watch my own team.

Yet the Ravens generally own the Broncos when they play each other.

If the Broncos were in need of a LB, this would make sense for them. This draft is deep in OT's, so if they were to trade Foster, they could draft a good one in the 1st round and use Cornell Green as a stopgap for a year.
The Broncos don't need a LB, so this is all moot. Now if it were Ed Reed they were offering up, that'd be a different story.

I can't even count the number of ways this deal doesn't make sense.
Our LB corp is the best unit we've got, why would we put more money there?
Ray, Ray is nearing the end and wants another mega-deal.
We blew our wad on Ian Gold last year.
We already have a play-making LB in a non-playmaking role (and out of position IMO).
Unless Denver plans on moving to the 3 - 4 this is absolutely ridiculous.

This is hysterical! ROTFLMAO I cannot believe any newspaper would print that lind of trade rumor. An aged MLB on the downside of his Career both on the field & on the Dance floor for one of our 2 starting Tackles? Hilarious!
This should go into some kind of hall of shame. What would we even do with Ray Ray other than CUT HIM loose at the end of training camp? Get it Cut him! Hilarious!

I don't know how this works salary wise, and I know it is far from realistic. However, think about the defense we could field if we made the right moves.
LDE - Courtney Brown
NT - Gerard Warren
RDE - John Abraham
L OLB- DJ Williams
LILB - Ray Lewis
RILB - Al Wilson
ROLB - Ian Gold
LCB - Champ Bailey
RCB - Darrent Williams
FS - Darnell Bing :)
SS - John Lynch
I think I just shat myself thinking about that defense. We wouldn't need anymore playmakers on offense, we would have the return of the Orange Crush. That would be as good a defense as any in the NFL. The only thing that would make that better would be if Darrent had three more years of experience and if we got Urlacher instead of Lewis.

With this line-up Abraham would be playing OLB, Ian would probably be a better fit inside, Mike Meyers would be the starting RDE and DJ would be on the bench.

Other than the fact Ray Ray is an ex-felon in the drug program and wanted a 100 million dollar signing bonus and is on the end of his career, this all makes perfect sense.
Interesting move if they pulled it off. I wasn't too impressed with Foster last season but he is only in his 4th year now and I like continuity on the OL. I think this says more about PJ Alexander though. They like him and Green enough to possibly consider this.
DJ Williams on one side of a 3-4 would be sick, however Ian is too light for that. IT would never work. You need OLB's that can work a Tackle over standing up and Gold could not do that. The face of a OLB should look like Porter from Pittsburgh, or better yet Greg Lloyd. We would have to make an attempt to pick up Peterson as well.
This won't happen though. There is no way Denver will switch to a 3-4. They would have done it already if they really wanted to.

I see somebody believes in the front office. In reference to Rick Smith's promotion saying that we have the best management and he wanted to stay in Denver, even though their have been offers from 49ers and vikings.

This trade is dumb, but not nearly as dumb as all the people saying Ray Ray is finished.
no way are we moving to a 3-4....no reason to, why would we make all of our vets that have been in our system for years learn a whole new system in only a few months....taht is a decision that would have been made a long time ago.
i do think that lb core is enticing but i dont see it happening...webster is a good pick up i think, but i hope chukwurah comes back, i liked him a lot on special teams
