Patriots release Chad Brown
Foxboro, MA (Sports Network) - The New England Patriots have released three- time Pro Bowl linebacker Chad Brown.
Brown spent just the 2005 season with the Patriots and ranked 10th on the team in tackles with 54, including 35 solo. He also forced three fumbles while playing 15 games, starting five.
The 35-year-old veteran has also played for Pittsburgh and Seattle in a 13- year NFL career. He was a second-round pick of the Steelers in the 1993 NFL Draft.
Brown played four seasons with the Steelers before signing as a free agent with the Seahawks in 1997. After playing eight seasons with the Seahawks, he signed as an unrestricted free agent with New England last May.
The former University of Colorado standout has 1,097 tackles, including 813 solo, with 78 sacks and six interceptions in 178 NFL games. He earned Pro Bowl nods with Pittsburgh in 1996 and Seattle in 1998 and '99.
New England also released guard Ryan Krug, who was a member of the club's practice squad three times during the 2005 season.
I wonder whether Shanahan is still interested in Chad???
