God im going to throw up.

I could see Trevor going there, but not Sarge.

Outside of Rod and Nails, Sarge has been Mr. Bronco the last few years.

Ugh.

Just about to post this. Good on him; I hope Baltimore stays away from an RB in the first round and gives Mike the opportunity to start. Looks like we'll be swapping '01 rookie of the year candidates with the Ravens in the end.

It's still early and with the big difference in salaries between Edge's and Mike's contract, I imagine Jamal will want something closer to what Edge got and Denver won't pay that. The Cards had to ante up to get Edge because of their poor history.

Colts won't be a factor til week 3 of FA, they already said it's their policy to wait til week 3 for prices to drop

so Denver right now is his only option, he could wait but the money will only get smaller & incentive based while people wait to draft the next stud RB(this draft is loaded like last year & some team will rather gamble on a Marion Barber III than pay Edge money for Lewis)

Well....at least he will come reasonably priced given that it doesnt appear that there is going to be a bidding war for his services now. I dont think the Colts are going to go after him. I think Polian is going to gamble that Maroney is still there at 30 instead of paying Jamal.

Lewis doesn't have a ton of leverage here. From everything that's been reported, there aren't any other teams even looking at him right now. Other teams have already addressed their RB positions already and there aren't many out there looking to break the bank on one.

The Broncos have the leverage that they can plug anyone in at that spot and get production out of them.

Right now Lewis needs the Broncos a lot more than they need him.

Why is everyone so enamored with Ricky Williams? We have greater needs at WR than RB and Williams is unreliable both as a football player and his ability to stay away from drugs. Why would we want that problem?

Can you think of a better spot for Jamal Lewis to land in? The most RB friendly system in the NFL and a contending team. If he wants to try and squeeze the Broncos for every last dime, tell him to go out and gauge his worth elsewhere and see what he finds.

Do not break the bank on this guy.

That sounds like a great strategy to me. The Broncos are one of the few remaining places any RB could go to and be able to contend for a SB.

That would be pretty nice at 29, although I think if he got that close and we still had that RB need, the Colts would move up to pre-empt us. Polian will sit and wait only if we fill our need.

I'm not as sold on Lewis either, but TO is intriguing. The Broncos' offense lacks a difference-maker. Plus, TO's getting up there and doesn't have many years left. He'd be wise to swallow his pride a bit and play for a SB contender.

Who knows ... regardless, I trust the Shanahan braintrust.

That just means he should get an incentive-laden contract that doesn't break a team's bank. Plus, it's a buyer's market for FA RBs.

why am i enamored with Ricky? he's still good, can go for 1,200 yards easy for us, durable enough to get 30 carries a game & not hurt oh & his cap friendly deal
too

any other RB with his talent will get alot more money so i want Ricky for the same reason i want Andre Carter, the money factor gives them better value

it's like asking who do you chose from Steve Smith & paying him 50-60 mil(he'd get it easy this year in FA) or do you sign TO for 20-30 with alot of incentives, you obviously pick TO to save cap & get wiggle room in the draft(more cap you have more options for trading up)

i like Lewis myself but if he wants Edge type money Broncos need to let him walk & get RW or draft a RB(though i still say Tatum can carry the load)

Lestat

well that's not true at all, Edge's ACL tear was alot worse & he's just fine now

the only reason Lewis blowed last year was conditioning & playing to not get hurt(which since he'll be like 27 when the season begins was smart)
i wouldn't go hurt myself for an employer if they weren't gonna pay me either

still rather have Ricky unless JL comes cheap

I hear a lot of people in here saying this.

The truth is we probably break even.

Jamal's ankle wasn't 100% last year and he was tentative hitting the hole. He's definitely lost something. You better hope and pray that what Jamal has lost isn't gone forever. It's been two (2) years since Jamal has been an above average running back. While he was an elite back in 2003, he was average in '04 and downright pathetic in '05.

I have heard possibly the Colts

Colts GM already stated that they would wait until the market calmed down 2-3 wks before making a move. If Lewis is still around at that point means the Broncos dont think he's worth the risk. At this present time the only thing stopping a deal for Jamal would be excessive financial demands or that Shanahan changes his mind and goes in the draft direction.

Noone has badmouthed MA except a few chuckles about "second hand smoke"...

There is no question IMO that he wore down despite being spelled by Bell. We can get some fresh meat in the draft. I'm not on the Lewis bandwagon at all. Give me Carter and T.O.

I don't know if the Egirls are torturing T.O. by not releasing him or that they are considering dumping McNabb. One has to go.
