I doubt this hurts the Pats, they still have Daniel Graham and Ben Watson out there to take up the slack.

This move just replaces losing Robert Royal to the Bills.. Good move, though I would have preferred a younger guy..

The NFL can't take picks that you have traded away already so cap be damned.

Why waste any money on a backup TE, when you have a good starter in Cooley?

Stop spreading myths! No cap hell since CBA was extended...

Why waste any money on a backup TE, when you have a good starter in Cooley? Cooley is actually an H-Back.. We still need a true blocking TE who can catch some passes here and there..

cap hell is all a myth. These owners make out like bandits. The only one who actually spends any money is Dan Snyder and he gets blasted for it just like George Steinbrenner.

I'm actually a little disappointed with the Broncos FO so far...I know it's early, but they don't need that much more help. Now is the time to go out and put the team over the top.

I still think Bowlen is one of the better owners in football and all of sports. Just look at the eagles...They are steaming mad with that cheap @$$ owner. they are under the cap by some really ridiculous amount and yet their owner doesn't do jack every year.

don't believe cap hell...it's all about owner and team propoganda. Snyder just chooses to spend the cash, just like steinbrenner. The others just pocket it and make it out to seem that if they dish out big contracts that cap hell will follow. BS...they just pocket money. No one is worse than baseball owners.

I agree.. The Skins have also gotten smart in the way that they structure contracts, give money in bonuses, extend and restructure contracts, etc to may things work each year. But your ultimate point is correct. Why does Dan get blasted for spending his considerable wealth on improving his beloved team? There was an arguement to be made in the early days, but that has all changed since Joe came back..

I think you are missing Socal's point. The draft will be full of blocking TE's in the 6th and 7th rounds...why overspend on one?

While I agree a draft choice might have been a better move, I don't think we overspent on Fauria. Keep in mind Royal was a free agent and we would have had to pony up some money to keep him. Buffalo overspent in my opinion..

If we can got Fauria for about the same money (or less) than we were going to dedicate to Royal, it's basically an even swap.. I still hope we draft somebody else to mold for the future, but for now I will trust Joe..
