Whoever came up with this idea of WBC and had fortitude to make it happen despite its oppositions must be commended.
Anybody watching the USA vs Japan game? It's baseball fan's delight! In the middle of March, with all the nationalism, this is better than world cup soccer!

I was slightly enjoying it. Until that. Now its a flawed victory if we win, weak.

who makes that call nowadays? especially at such critical point of the game? what a shame on such a nicely played game.

I went to the game, but they never showed a replay of the call. Was it that bad?
The Japanese were so ticked off by the call, they refused to go back out on the field for 5-7 minutes. The umpires were waving them to come out of the dugout and they just stood there. I was wondering if Sadaharu Oh was going to pull his team in protest.

that was bad. there was no basis to reverse that call by the second baseman referee. this is not soccer, where an umpire can mess up the whole game! it just puts damp on all the good things the people in baseball is trying to do with this great game.
also we really didn't need the referee's help to win this one.

That was a bad call, ruined a great game between two baseball powers.
I loved that US won but its kind of tainted.

Yea, I saw that. The second base umpire made the right call on saying the man was safe, but obviously when the home plate umpire asked, he said he wasn't sure. At least be very sure to overturn something that big. ESPN replays showed it was a bad call. O well.

ESPN did a split screen of it and the tie goes to the runner. I believe we have a sense of fair play and that was simply a bad call. Worse, it was an overturn. I don't blame the Japanese team from protesting.
