And apparently the Raiders have tendered offers to at least
6 free agents.

Broncos | Team still working to sign Dayne

Lee Rasizer, of the Rocky Mountain News, reports the Denver Broncos continue working through issues of structure and length in negotiating with free agent RB Ron Dayne (Broncos). "We've been pretty much butting heads on the same stuff," Dayne's agent, Len Rowe, said after the latest round of negotiations Friday night, March 10.

I wouldn't read too much into it ... where else is Ron Dayne going to go and get a better deal than what he'd get with the Broncos?

Let him walk if he is asking for too much....Mike Bell is the answer...

They're probably stalling since they heard about the Broncos' supposed interest in Lewis

With the glut of quality RBs available, it's a buyer's market.

dayne i appreciate everything you did that overtime run in dallas was beautiful, but if you are asking for too much don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Ron Dayne is screwing himself imo if wants more money than he deserves. Where else can he go and be one of the feature rb's in a system that he flourishes in.

Im sure the Williams talk didn't help either. Its clear that Denver doesn't think he can be the elite back some posters here believe.

maybe its the other way around and denver is lowballing him thinking they might pickup a rb and he would be #3 again.

That's fine by me ... I'm not convinced he's the answer at RB either.

If he doesn't like what he's being offered, let him walk. I have a hard time believing that there's a big market out there for Ron Dayne.

That's funny right there, I don't care who you are!

He's making a BIG mistake. Someone needs to tell him to look at the Broncos running game the last 10 years, before him and his agent start butting heads on money. Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya! If it doesn't work out you will not find a team that is very interested in you.

Even if Dayne and the Broncos do come to terms, I don't like the "butting heads" verbage. That reeks of "me, myself, and I" instead of "team."

You guys have to understand that this is his agent talking, not Ron Dayne. His agent is there to get him the best deal possible so I wouldn't read anything into these statements.

You're talking my language. I'm really hoping that the Cardinals sign Edge and the Ratbirds either lock up Lewis or Taylor. That's less teams in front of us that need a RB and enhance our chances at landing LenDale.

I knew you would say that. Youve been pimping him and Leonard Pope pretty hard lately. Id love to have DeAngelo too....but I think White fits our power style a little better. Id be thrilled with Williams though. Kinda ironic we are on different sides of this issue given our wildly divergent views about U$C. ;D

If he gets to the mid teens, we HAVE to get on the phone. A 3 and a 4 should be able to move us from 22 to 16 or so. Ive been preaching about holding on to the picks and I strongly feel that way but White slipping to the mid teens would be an exigent circumstance where we would have to make an exception, especially since it would be a package of mid rounders as opposed to the other 1st (which will unfortuneatly probably be gone anyway) or the 2nd.

If those two teams I mentioned (Arizona & Baltimore) address their RB need through free agency, I can see DeAngelo Williams and LenDale White tumbling a bit, perhaps even farther than the mid-teens. Look at the teams drafting 10-21.

Arizona: Hot & heavy after Edge. If they get him, they'll take someone else at 10
St. Louis: Just used a #1 on Stephen Jackson two years ago.
Cleveland: They've got enough RB's including the re-signed Reuben Droughns.
Baltimore: They want either Taylor or Lewis back. Just lost a starting DT.
Philly: Just re-upped Westbrook and have other needs to address.
Atlanta: Possibly, but they've got more pressing needs.
Miami: No chance, used the #2 pick in last years draft on Ronnie Brown.
Dallas. They could take a RB. They've kind of got a RBBC going at the moment.
San Diego: They've got some guy named Ladanian in that spot.
KC: Ummm, no.
New England: Another maybe. Dillon showed signs of age last year.

So if Arizona & Baltimore take care of their RB spots through free agency (as they are reportedly trying to do) there's a very good chance that we could see two very good RB's slide down the board to within the Broncos reach with possibly a modest trade up.

Great post CO, the Eagles are looking at Mike Anderson and no way the Falcons take a back with the tandem of Dunn/Duckett on the books and there's no way an RB goes in 1-9.

Your getting me really excited now, CO. I cant sit still. ;D

I can see, in my mind's eye, White in that blue home jersey mashing through the pile for a goalline TD right now.

Vikings | C. Taylor signed
Sat, 11 Mar 2006 17:30:19 -0800

Mark Craig, of the Star Tribune, reports the Minnesota Vikings have signed free agent RB Chester Taylor (Ravens). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

If they don't sign Jamal Lewis, they'll likely take a RB with the 13th overall pick.

There is nothing in this thread that even begin to show Dayne as being "greedy" so I don't understand why you and so many others are jumping all over him about it.
