Fri, 10 Mar 2006 10:57:33 -0800
Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the New York Giants have reached a deal on a four-year contract with free agent CB Sam Madison (Dolphins). The deal is worth $7.4 million and includes a $2 million signing bonus. He will have base salaries of $900,000 (2006), $1.2 million (2007), $1.5 million (2008) and $1.8 million (2009). By gaining four or more interceptions in a year, he can receive $250,000 through incentives.

$1.4m cap hit for a quality player. That's a great bit of business right there.

Sam Madison, the great defender for Miami, came up with one of six (that's *6*) interceptions against the Raiders. Final: Dolphins 27, Oakland 17. Monday, December 07, 1998 yep ...sam looked good that game

That's a solid pickup and a great contract for the Giants I thought Madison would have gotten more.

I know it's true but doesn't free agency start at 12:01 am tommorow ? Why do they have a start time if teams can go ahead and jump the gun. I am assuming they are pre announcing the deal and he will officially sign tommorow but why not wait the extra day ?

same reason the rams were allowed to sign glover ... cut players can sign at any time they like only free agents have to wait until free agency officially starts

Unlikely as money is a bit tight and if I went over for a game IŽd prefer to go to Denver as I havenŽt been to the new Mile High yet. The flight across the Atlantic is the expensive thing, so if I ever get that money, the extra 100 for the domestic flight to Denver wonŽt break me. If I spent that kind of cash on flights, IŽd like to make a holiday out of it and IŽve got something booked up for the summer already. Thanks for asking.

WOW
What a great pickup for the Gman...good player and he came at a very reasonable price.
Sometimes I think we overpay Bailey and this doesn't help that feeling.

:spit: The best corner in the league? We actually got him for a fairly reasonable price considering he's probably going to be one of the best all time at his possition.
