Is this for football or basketball?

I wonder if the sanctions are serious, which stems from the previous regime, Jim O'Brien and what he did.

I wonder how much this impacts Greg Oden, Mike Conley and the others in that remarkable recruiting class for next season.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State was placed on three years' probation by the NCAA on Friday for violations by its men's basketball program.

The school also has been ordered to pay back basketball tournament revenue.

The NCAA's announcement marks the final resolution of a two-year investigation into the Buckeye basketball program run by fired coach Jim O'Brien.

3 years probation, have to take down the final 4 banner from 1999, reduced recruit visits on campus, and have to pay back about 800,000 from revenue for playing with an ineligible player.

As long as they didnt **** with this year's team, I'm fine with it.

The Buckeyes already have Greg Oden in the bag, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Yeah, we have Oden, Lighty and Cook all signed on, giving us the #2 recruiting class in the country(UNC was #1), so I' not upset about the campus visits being reduced.

I'm just happy that the current players didnt get punished for the past years.

When sanctions get handed down, they allow the players who signed before the sanctions come down the option of looking elsewhere.

But in this case, the sanctions werent that serious.

There was talk that if it were serious, he could look elsewhere.

You must've missed last year(while you were working during those NU losses) when the NCAA investigated those claims and said that there was nothing to them.

I hate how a current program has to pay the penalty for the sins of another coach. OSU has enjoyed a great season this year really for the first time since Scoonie Penn and Mike Redd. I think the sanctions should follow the coach...any school that hires him has to deal with the sanctions for life until the probation runs out...so a coach that sits a year wouldn't get out of it.

It's pobably because the player received improper benefits from an OSU booster, so while Jim O'Brien might've known about it and got fired because of it, it falls on the Unviersity because it was a booster that hooked the guys up.
