at present we are at about 92 mil -- 2 mil under the cap-- If the CBA is agreed upon then we would be 12 mil under the cap.
with that being said-- Next years cap would also increase $5mil. and all the rules being in place then we would be in good shape to sign big guys and still be under the cap. the way we would do this would be through very attainable incentive laden contracts for boht this year and next. how is this this is because incentive laden contracts do not go against the cap until next year. a little trick. there has to be a base contract. so here is an idea let me here your comments--
Sign TO incentive with a very incentive laden contract around 4 mil maybe 5 then have him with incentiives get up to 7 mil for this year.
trade for abraham and 3rd rounder for this years draft. cannot restructure but lay the foundation for next years contract to be guarnateed. That is all abraham wants is guaranteed and either way he will get paid so he will be fine. or give him an incentive laden contract. we upgraded 2 postions and made our team more foramable.
In the draft-- get a DT, TE, WR, corner, Mikes RB, and do not let mike draft marcus vick. I dont want to be embarrassed again by another clarrett
we should be A-O-K

Actually it's closer to $5 million under.
They were' about $900,000 under after releasing Pryce, Anderson & Putzier. Lepsis' new deal saved them another $1 million. Brown's deal saved them another $3 million. That's about $4.9 million under as we speak, give or take. Gerard Warren's new deal will put them further under. If he walks, they'll gain an additional $7.6 million in cap space.

Klis reported this morning that after the Courtney Brown extension the Broncos are closer to 5 million under the projected cap of 94.5. So if the CBA goes through, Denver could have close to 15 million in room. Plus, there is still Warren to deal with which will result in more room.

Here's every scenario
New CBA plus Warren re-signed $18-$19m cap space
New CBA plus Warren moves on $22m cap space
No CBA plus Warren re-signed $7-$8m
No CBA plus Warren walks $12-$13m space
The above are off course estimates, but if Warren signs and a CBA is agreed his signing bonus can be porated over 5yrs plus the 30% rule doesn't affect his deal and he can get a basic minimum salary for the 1st year of the contract thus lowering the 1st yr cap hit, without the CBA his signing bonus is porated over 4 years and he'll get a decent 1st year base salary in accordance with the 30% rule, so we could be talking around the $5m mark similar to Lepsis.

Nice breakdown. Any way you slice it we're in pretty good shape.

I think either way, we'll be able to sign the same amount of people. In fact we might have more options if the deal isn't done.
You overpay in free agency, but with no new deal in place, the mass of free agents will be more willing to negotiate if they know that most teams do not have any room to play with. If a new deal is done, there will be fewer free agents because teams will be able to keep the guys they want and the few that remain will put other teams in bidding wars for them.

I can't wait to see Terrell Owens lined up opposite Rod Smith with Lelie in motion, and Tatum Bell in the backfield, maybe with Dan Graham at TE.

Great news if this is accurate (which it looks to be). Shanny and Sundy must be licking thier chops. I'll eat my had if warren walks with the CBA. I'm definately pulling for JA to come to town. Still on the fence about TO. Really wish Ricky didnt fail a test, but no way in Hell I want J cokey lewis.
Just a note about the media: I think Klis and Legward have done an allright job. Burger Bill needs to move back up north where the fanbase apparently doesnt care about facts.

IMO if the CBA is not agreed Shanahan will then approach Jake, Champ and Al to restructure.

According to this Scout.com article, we're actually going to get some of the cap taken away from us now...

You have to remember though that if the CBA is agreed their are other teams going to be $30-$40 million under.

Who runs our cap? Every year we are major players in the market.
Who gets the props......

I've a funny feeling ESPN's cap count was already including these numbers anyway because I read a few weeks ago about the Vikings getting the extra $7 million.

I don't understand why people think Terrell Owens is in the market to sign an "incentive laden" deal. Terrell Owens is still looking for his guaranteed money that he got screwed out of when his agent filed the papers late.
Plus, if he falls short on his incentives, we'd risk him melting down on our quarterback.
No thanks of the incentive laden deal.

Can you honestly see any team giving him a deal worthy of his talent alone without taking into consideration the other **** that comes with him???
