"I think a lot of students wouldn't really pay that much attention to it," Fitzgerald said. "They would just be like, `Duh, that's why we do it.'"
About 30 percent of women surveyed said spring break trips with sun and alcohol are an essential part of college life.
Also, 74 percent said women use spring break drinking as an excuse for "outrageous" behavior that the AMA said could include public nudity and dancing on tables.
Of the 27 percent who said they had attended a college spring break trip:
_More than half said they regretted getting sick from drinking on the trip.
_About 40 percent said they regretted passing out or not remembering what they did.
_13 percent said they had sexual activity with more than one partner.
_10 percent said they regretted engaging in public or group sexual activity.
_More than half were underage when they first drank alcohol on a spring break trip.
The AMA said the findings highlight the need for alternative spring break activities. For
Like maybe they should add AND do NOT get drunk in a disco and let 2-3 guys you've never met before give you a ride home.

keep it safe ladies....
CHICAGO - The American Medical Association is warning girls not to go wild during spring break. All but confirming what goes on in those "Girls Gone Wild" videos, 83 percent of college women and graduates surveyed by the AMA said spring break involves heavier-than-usual drinking, and 74 percent said the break results in increased sexual activity
who knew?

Yeah Ok so with that logic any girl in America should never go home with someone from a bar after she's had a drink because she will end up getting murdered?
Nobody really knows what happened to Natalie Yates but I've seen some interviews with the scumbags who gave her a ride home and they've all changed their stories several times.
Did she make the best choice? Probably not. Did she deserve to get murdered? Absolutely not.

Actually I was thinking of the kid who got killed in Aruba.
But, yeah, any girl who gets drunk and goes home with a guy she doesn't know is doing something really stupid.
All I know about the woman you mentioned was I think I heard something in passing on Faux news when I was suiting up at the gym yesterday or last weekend. I don't watch tv news.
ps, and of course no one "deserves' to be murdered. Actually I can think of a few politcos, but that would be for the other board, and stating one's views on that is likewise really stupid.

No we thought about taking it there last year for opening day. Glad we didn't bother.
Bendog I mispoke. The Aruba kid you were referring to is Natalie Holloway not Yates.

Not if they want the pipe layed to them. Happens all the time on spring break.

I think what they're saying here is not so much the risk of getting murdered or injured, although that IS a serious risk.
I think what they're saying is, don't get so drunk that you let three guys run a train on ya.
Drink a little less, and you won't regret your sexual activities

Is it leagle to lock teens & or college aged children in your house during spring break?

Serious risk of getting injured or murdered? I'd say the risk is less than 1%. For every Natalie Holloway, thousands of spring breakers did just fine laying on their backs.
True, if you get hammered you might regret what you did. But, that is why all the females attend spring break. To get hammered & possibly score.

I suspect Natalie got "in trouble" when she tried to say no to pulling the train.

Mine are 10 and 12 and I am worried too. Probably over protective in some cases.
I remember a couple of spring break trips I took and they were crazy, but tame by today's standards

I have already stated that once I have children, even the boys are going on the pill.

Lock ourselves away, and get caught up on grading. Then reteach everything that was chemically wiped from their minds.
Actually the Highscool kids aren't that bad around here. I couldn't imagine the fears of having a teenage kid living in daytona beach... damn that would be scary.

I apologize for my PM. Discothèques are still popular in Europe, see e.g.
http://lilt.ilstu.edu/jhreid/Angers/angers.htm
"There are organized trips to discothèques throughout the semester."
I did a little research on Natalie, and frankly it's even sadder. I'd assumed that Aruba, being Dutch, had a euro flavor like you'd find on the baleric islands or malta, and that the kid got picked up in fun nightclub, but instead it looks like a crappy chain bar you'd find in cozumel.

Sadly, for what her parents spent sending her to Aruba for a week, they might have paid for a foreign exchange for a semester, where she'd have had more supervision.

I am gonna take a beating for this, but I am gonna say it anyways...
What a bunch of PC garbage.
Only females drink too much on Spring Break?
Only females have unsafe sex on Spring Break?
Only females have multiple sexual partners on Spring Break?
Only females black out and regret what they did?
Now, as a college kid, specifically as a college dude, these are goals that are aspired to by millions. In other words, they WANT to get drunk, laid, and pass out in a pile of their own refuse. But, its garbage to only put it out as warning to women. If this kind of behavior is unsafe for the goose, what makes it safe for the gander?
Granted, 1 in 100 college kids, regardless of age, will give this warning more than 10 seconds thought, but still. Its either unsafe behavior, or it isnt. And, yes I realize that the ladies have to worry about sexual predators, but there are predators of all kinds out there...
Every March here in Cabo I am forced to walk around with a perpetual hard on because of Spring Break, damn kids!
