View Full Version : BAD news for Bolts fans?

You gotta read between the lines, a little, but a strange thing happened on "NFL Network" Tuesday ...

Chargers FB Lorenzo Neal was the guest host, and for some silly reason Neal and Rich Eisen were interviewing LT on "Chargers Cam." Anyway, Eisen asked LT about Philip Rivers ... and that's when the bad news started to leak between the lines:

1. First, LT let out a quick laugh ... then he actually deferred to Neal! He says, "I'm gonna let Lo handle this one," as if it was a hard-hitting question.
2. Even worse, Neal pauses, and then actually says, "well, in the first place, I'm hoping they bring back Drew Brees because Drew is a great leader" blah blah blah. Pardon me, but didn't I read the Chargers front office actually ANNOUNCED they were not keeping Brees?
3. Finally Neal says "but IF Philip is the quarterback, he'll have to listen and learn and grow," and he goes on in great pains to say that the rest of the team will have to make it easy on him.
4. Finally, after a pregnant pause, LT basically repeats everything Neal said, adding the veterans will have to "go out of our way" to keep the pressure off "Philip." Not Phil ... but Philip.

Broncos fans, I do believe we might be in for an entertaining couple of years in Charger-land. Not Ryan Leaf 'tell-your-grandkids' entertaining maybe, but certain to keep us happy.

I'm reading between the lines. Ricky Williams will be a Charger because he obviously shared his stash with the guys...

I don't know what I did wrong here but its my fault .... i tried to cut and paste an article, sorry.

Just read www.sandiegouniontribune.com for some of the most humorous articles sbout the Chargers. Marty and GM are feuding. Owners tells 'em both to quit crying or they are gone. Marty and GM don't even sit together at the Combines to evaluate talent. Marty claims he is being "setup" to fail this season. They won't bring back Brees and I'm expected to make the playoffs, what the F#&* !!! Trying to compete with Big Al to the North for the biggest Buffoons in the AFC West.:thanku:

Sorry guys...I had to get rid of all those posts to get rid of that crap.

What's with the Phil vs Philip thing...I don't get it....he's always gone by Philip. ???

I've said many times that Brees is/was better for the Bolts in the short-term but I still think Rivers will be better in the long term.

Big difference between Leaf and Rivers...wasn't Leaf thrown into the fire as a rookie? Rivers has had 2 years of grooming in the system learning under a one-time Pro Bowler. "They" have seen him in practice for 2 years and obviously think he can handle being the starter eventually (first year starter growing pains are obviously expected). Wouldn't Leaf's "bust" status have been exposed had he been groomed for 2 years before starting?

They should steal his credit card and buy everyone dinner. See how he reacts. This is the true "Leaf Meter"

the Chargers did not say they would let Brees walk. they said that he would be allowed to test the market and that they hope to re-sign him . if they let phillip run the show, they will essentially be throwing away this year and maybe the next while phil gets his feet wet. even the greatest qb's like elway, aikman, et al had rough first years. without an experienced qb, the chargers will be the best 9-7 team ever. personally, i hope brees goes to the nfc.

He was a d!ck in high school too. He played my highschool for the state champ. and flipped off all us fans. Of course we were throwing smack the whole time and probably deserved it. Much of Montana had a good chuckle when that bastar d fell on his face!

Totally agree. Way to ruin things for yourselves. Watch Rivers be a bust and suddenly its Ryan Leaf all over again.
