He apparently paid the Skins 4 million in exchange for a release, or at least thats what the guy on ESPNNEWS just said.

Wow, not shocked he got release, but he had to pay 4 mil to do it.

That should tell you how badly he wanted out of Washington.

I guess he's not a "True Redskin." Ha!

He'd cost too much money and as much as I would absolutely love throwing Gold's ass out on the street, we cant afford the bonus hit.

Not sure of the details, but apparently yes.. The team seems to be playing up the cap-saving aspect of it.. Waiting for more details to come out..

I believe it does.

From what little playing time he got, he seemed to make plays. I still never understood why he was benched exactly. Maybe he's just stupid.

If so, that saves $7m against the cap.. Not bad for relief of cap purposes...

It was a pissing contest between him and the coaches.. He also was very slow to recover from his injuries...

Thats F'd up. The only way we will let you go is if you pay us to leave, but remember if you stay here you won't play.

He hasnt played in two years so he has a "durability" knock along with not get along with Greg Williams... regardless of his potential it brings down their value. Courtneys durability knock dropped his price WAYYYYYYYY down. This is a much better signing than TO or Abraham. A boy can dream right?

I think he was benched because he wouldn't play w/in the system(what I heard). he wanted to just freelance and make plays and celebrate. gregg williams wanted him to do more coverage and taking on blocks.

Wasn't it Marvin Lewis who said, "Lavar just doesn't get it."?

Yup. Once they clear the check, it goes back to their cap. But they have to clear the check. They can't just "put" it there without the money actually changing hands.

The mistake teams make is how to use Arrington. I would put him down at rush end in our 4-3 and point at the QB and tell him to get the man. Nothing complicated, just get upfield and chase down the QB or RB.

Good idea but I don't know if we have the Dinaris to sign him. He's had an injury history as well...I can't figure out why we didn't put Williams at RDE on passing downs.

He would be great in that role! I never understood why he wasn't used that way. He could be like Charles Haley.

Damn, guess we won't be able to see Skins fans putting him in their lopsided trade proposals anymore. This just means they'll continue to give Pat Ramsey actual trade value. He and 3rd round pick are going to net them Abraham, that's got to be more valuable than the 1st round pick it looks like the Jets are going to get from someone else.

I wish the Chiefs had hired Gregg Williams to be their DC two years ago. :(

First off, I am a big Lavar fan just like I am for Bailey still. Does this move by the Redskins surprise me? No, not at all. I hope he finds a team in the AFC (Denver) would be ideal for me and he plays lights out.

However, if a guy cannot buy into what Gibbs wants as a player and a guy like Gregg Williams can run a #2 overall defense in 04 and the #9 overall defense last year w/o Lavar, then I'm gonna keep my faith in the Redskin coaches.

Whoever does pick up Lavar will actually be getting a player we have not had for the last 2 1/2 years. Thats a "healthy" Lavar and he will be good for whoever picks him up if he stays healthy.

I will miss Lavar and hope he does well. Now go sign him darn it!^5

Under Marvin Lewis, Lavar played alot of rush DE and that year was where most of his sacks came from. BUT, they did not come when he came from the down DE spot. Arrington is not good when he takes on tackles 1 on 1. He needs to be coming form all over and not have blockers on him at the snap.

Yes, and Jake Reed and Robert brooks were supposed to shore up our 3rd wr spot. Release Brown and trade DJ for arrington? are you high? He has been released, why the hell would you trade DJ?

yah it appears the mistake in using lavar is to ask him to do anything that could resemble a defensive scheme or gameplan. maybe we should tie a steak around the qb's neck.

Yeah, I thought the same thing myself. It might be hard trading one of our players who is already under contract, for a free agent. :peace:

i'd say what i really think about that 1st move but it'd be too long to write so i'll just say this

thank God shanny runs the team & not you cause that is not an improvement as Courtney was very good last year & if healthy could be a force next year

Sean Taylor's trail is coming up, I read he was facing some "real" jail time.

Here it is:

MIAMI (AP) -- Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor faces up to 46 years in prison after two additional assault charges were filed against him Friday.

Michael Grieco, an assistant state attorney, said the charges reflect Taylor's alleged threatening of three people with a gun in an armed confrontation over an all-terrain vehicle on June 1.

Taylor, 22, now faces three counts of aggravated assault, each of which carries a minimum sentence of three years and a maximum of 15 years in prison. He also faces one misdemeanor battery charge that carries a potential one-year prison term.

Trial is scheduled to begin March 20

Wow, people talk about greedy athletes all the time, I wonder when the last time a player was so miserable about playing football that he paid a team to let him go?

At least this shows LaVar just wants to play ball and isn't concerned with money. I'd love to have him, but it'll never ever happen.

Lavar is nasty but just lets his emotions get the best of him sometimes. I cant count how many times i have seen a flag thrown for him hitting someone out of bounds.

Latest from Lavar. on The John Thompson shows places that he would like to play- NFC East teams (might be hard to play for Dallas), AFC - Pittsburgh, his son is there and San Diego- Loves Marty and Merriam is his boy.

Basically said it wasn't a good fit between him and coaching staff, and all thought it was best for if he moved on, he gets to plays in different situation and the team gets to keep some guys they might not have.

Jake Reed was one of my fav WRs for whatever reason. I don't know much about his off field problems if he had any so don't hate me if he raped cats.
