I don't. I work for myself as a photographer. Set my own hours. I'm working right now, at home. I walk around in sweats most of the time. Don't have to deal with traffic much. Can blow off a day anytime I want to. Except Saturday. That's my money day. I work most Saturdays, all day.

Right now my job is cool. As long as we are growing & spending $ on gear & new tech then I am happy. When we were penny pinching a few years back & they were pressuring all the employees I hated it.

I always take my vacation this time of year so I am soo ready to take a break from work. But mostly I enjoy my job and I make a decent living enough to be on my own, buying a car, and going to college.

I'm neutral. I really liked it up until a week or so ago when I learned I'm stuck in a dead end job. So, I did something about it. Going back to school to finish what I should have 10 years ago.

Depends on the day...I'm subbing part-time; working with toddlers...well, sometimes it's pretty much full-time...What I like about it is that they can't complain if I want to take time off...what sucks is I pay my own health insurance. Most of the time it works out well...so I guess I'm neutral. I actually like the kids and my co-workers most of the time.

I was on the "hate my job" side for many years as I built up my studio biz. But, I'm happily on the "life is sweet" side, these days. Working for two networks and filling in the gaps with my own studio clients when I have time.
I can honestly say I love my jobs... the money, the work, the people.
Not very often in life one can say that, so I'm enjoying it. Add to that the greatest wife in the world and a beautiful baby on the way, and I honestly have to pinch myself, daily.

I am the Managing Partner in a company with about 150 employees. Somethings are good, some are bad. I put in 80-100 hours per week at all sorts of odd times of the day and have to travel pretty frequently.I pay my self OK, not great, and I have about 1/3 of my employees making more than me. I really have mixed feelings, somedays it is great fun and some days I wake up and want to head straight to the social security office to begin collecting benefits.

I'm sticking out until I'm profecient in the new design software I'm learning then shakin' the dust off. Once I've got this software down I'm looking at 90-150K/yr anywhere but where I'm at currently. A Nice improvement from the 55-60K I'm making now.

I love my job. Sometimes there are things that I don't much care for, but as someone mentioned earlier, you only need look at past experience to see the good. It's easy for me. For 10 years I wore a uniform to work. I turned wrenches, chased wires in schematics, trained the untrainable, and took orders from those too incompetent to read and shiit at the same time.

Now I'm a civilian w/the DoD. I make good money and best of all I do more directing than working. I'm not a supervisor or anything like that, I just oversee contracts. I determine (along with my 14 co-workers) whether the government is going to accept aircraft in a multi-billion dollar contract.

The best part of my job. Being responsible for Flight Releases on brand new aircraft, each of them flying for the very first time. I also enjoy the fact that if I ID a fault with the aircraft somebody else gets to fix it. I get a call when it's fixed and then determine whether or not the gov concurs with the corrective action.

The part I don't like... I have several course I have to take to get my level two. The courses aren't easy but they aren't bust your ass hard either. The biggest problem is funding. Our training budget was one of the first budgets hit by the war against terror. Normally, a new person can finish all 6 courses for level cert and the 7 courses for commodity cert within 18 mos. I'm now 12 mos in and I'm just now going to my 4th course for level II cert. 2 more to go, but then I still have 7 more for my commodity cert. The good news is that I'll have NASA, Aircraft, Aerospace, NDI/NDT, ISO (maybe, yet TBD) FAA, FCC, and Mechanical certifications. I'm not interested in moving but I'll be very marketable! How could I complain, other than to complain about the time and funding?

Don't feel bad, I haven't gone on vacation in nearly 3 years. Two years in Houston was b/c I was too busy. We were exercising nearly every other month and the time in between was spent preparing for the exercises and correcting our problem areas. The last year here in Amarillo I haven't really wanted to take a vacation. I really enjoy my job, plus my wife had a baby in Sept. so it didn't make much sense to vacation anyway. I'm sitting on nearly 300 hours of leave. My max carryover was supposed to be 240, but I transfered 200 hours that I couldn't take in Houston for the reasons I mentioned earlier. Through whatever loop hole I didn't lose anything to the use or lose policy.

The good news... I'm going to San Diego for a week for training and then as soon as I get back we're heading up to Colorado for a 10 day vacation!!!

I forgot to mention this part about my job earlier. It's certainly a like. As most of you know I'm a proud father of 3. 6, 2, and 5mos. I can't afford to work a job that could have lay offs or something of that nature. That's not to say we couldn't have a RIF or something of that nature, but b/c of the program I'm more secure than most. And, even if we did have something happen I would be offered a job of equal or more pay by the DoD. As my supervisor once put it, "you could come in to my office, smoking a joint, tell me to F*** off, and then I could call and see about getting permission to start the firing process... but there's no guarantees even under those circumstances." Naturally I'd never do anything like that. Unfortunately there are other people that I sometimes wish would do that, that won't either! lol

I love my job, love the field, it has it's stresses. I have been very angry about my work lately. I'm fighting for a raise I should have been given long ago. I like my job, not my bosses. I operate a 10 ton crane at a pipe plant. Basically building loads of 21 ft pipe all day.

If they could find somebody to run the place with an ounce of common sense we could make some money at this plant.

They are making some capital improvements to the tune of 13 million dollars, new coil slitter, new saw, so the job should be safe for at least a couple years. If the Chinese don't put us out of business with all their imports.

The politicians in this country need to put a stop to the outsourceing of america's jobs.

4 years of 3 years of company bankruptcy, one year out of bankruptcy the President and VP's had their floor remodeled. Our company floor frigde broke. We had to wait 3 weeks to get an ok to purchase a new one. Upper management is a bunch of BS'ers and look out for themselves. Now WP is going to be sold to a Brazilian steel company!

Amazing to me that every Steel company in the US is in the same boat. Is it the overseas steel dump. Or the Jag-offs that run the US steel companies being idiots?

I love my actual job. Some parts of it are tedious, but ironically enough I know that those parts make me the money so that kinda balances out not wnating to do the tedious ****.

I dislike my boss greatly though. I mean, dont get me wrong, I can do what I want, boss dont really care cause he knows the work gets done almost as soon as its assigned, but he is this little guy. Little shortman. Napoleon syndrome to an extreme degree. He talks down to almost everyone (not me or one of my collegues, but everyone else) and belittles people at almost every chance.

I just want to punch his face.

But the money is good and he dont bitch at me so I shrug it off and ignore him.

Only got a year or so left there before I do it on my own anyway.

Tell your daughter to focus on applications programming because unless she knows someone in the industry, she wont get a job.

I know five people that tried for between 5-10 years to get into the industry before finally breaking in. Its VERY difficult because of the good ole boy (and girl) system of the industry.

We have one of your mills in our plant. Small world. We make bridge decking for Wheeling Pitt. The guys get paid from Wheatland Tube but the foreman are for Wheeling Pitt.

As for the steel industry, and the pipe makers specifically, when the imports of foriegn pipe go from 9300 tons to 400,000 tons in 4 yrs. you'd think the politicians would see a problem with that.

Most of WP employers are rent-a-workers. It's cheap than paying benefit's. I have little in any issue with the plant guys. It's the suits in the main building that have me banging my head on my desk.

Wanna hear/read something funny!

Last month WP reduce it's steel making. For Sale Signs every where IMO.

Decking side needed a high gauge steel. So we (WCC) purchased steel from Mexico!

It wasn't up to specs, but it was cheap. Well our deck properties where blown. Customer wasn't happy. Seems sales gave him a kick back to make him happy!
