That would be a nice temporary administration. :unamused:

http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2006/3/2/134413.shtml?s=ic

An anti-war group that belongs to the umbrella organization United for Peace and Justice (UPJ) has announced that it intends to topple the Bush administration during a March 15 Washington, D.C. protest.

In a message headlined "Storm the White House" that appears on the UPJ Web site, the group Political Cooperative is urging its members:

"TAKE THE WHITE HOUSE BY STORM, Stop Genocide, Torture and Occupation."

The message goes on to explain:

"We will not allow the Slave Holders that Still Prevail in this Country to Rule us any longer . . . The Administration is Criminal and if they will not step down, we must storm in, show them how many of us do not accept a criminal government."

The Political Cooperative goes so far as to announce its plans to install an interim government after the Bush administration is toppled:

"The Political Cooperative will put a new, temporary government in place that is comprised of people from Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and all the organizations that have finally made us aware of the truth of the savage practices and illegal policies of our government in assassinating our own officials as well as people throughout the world who oppose their criminal activity."

Bush-bashing filmmaker Michael Moore apparently endorses the coup plan, linking to the "Storm the White House" message on his Web site.

I'll tell you how it's going to turn out. Getting around the city is going to suck and I'm going to bash some hippie skulls that's how it's going to turn out. They'll fvck up my commute and I'll kick them in the teeth. It's a lose-win. First I lose and then I win. Hippies always lose because they're hippies and that's what they do. They lose and b!tch. I see alot of protesters bleeding from the head with burning eyes from the gas only to be piled on top of eachother in a patty wagon, short clips of some no makeup wearin hairy armpit granola eating chick screaming (power to the people!) then a leather glove holding her face like a bowling ball shoves her into a van. (storming the white house) is a no win situation.

My parents were lucky enough to have had dinner with Dubya at the White House recently. They were pretty jazzed about it. I'm glad they were able to get that in before the coup. I suppose I'll never get the chance now. Pity, really. My wife will be especially crushed.

So anyone think it will take more than 10 minutes of White House security personnel beating all traces of fecal matter out of anyone who gets too close to the fence before the organizers of this event rethink the idea of announcing their intentions in advance?

How'd your parents manage that?

The 1966 Texas Western (now UTEP) Miners who were the subject of the film "Glory Road" were invited to the White House for dinner recently. My second dad (The first one died at 42. I was 11.) was a part of the athletic staff for that team for several decades and was a consultant for the movie. I'm proud to say that he's the guy who is most responsible for Don Haskins' admittance to the Basketball HOF.

Texas Western's claim to fame is that they were the first team to start five African American players and win the NCAA championship. It sounds like an obvious tactic these days, but I've read the contemporary press clippings. The world was a different kind of place in 1966. Some of the stuff that was written at the time is simply unimaginable under today's standards. Coach Haskins was either a guy who was the first to calculate the possibiities or he was just unable to distinguish between skin colors. I like to think that he just didn't bother to think there was a racial difference that could matter and that skill should be the only yardstick.

Anyway, the surviving members of the team (Bobby Joe Hill died a while ago) and the coaching staff were invited to the White House for dinner last week.

My dad (who lived during the Great Depression in a railroad boxcar that had been converted into the family home) and my mother (who spent the later part of the same period in rural Alabama picking cotton as a child) were astounded to discover that during this last part of their lives they had been invited to dine with the most influential man in the world.

In my opinion, they are precisely the kind of Americans who should enjoy a few moments in the sun. They are indeed the salt of the earth and I have been well blessed that they are my parents.

When you get the chance to watch it, take it all with more than a grain of salt. By every account I've heard from the men who lived it, the story told in the movie bears -- at best -- a loose resemblence to the reality.

Hey, it's Hollywood's version. Hollywood does stories, not history. Jerry Bruckheimer is wealthier than any historian I can think of for a damned good reason. And that reason is not because Mr. Bruckheimer's storytelling is the most accurate source of the truth available.

If it's not the hippies themselves fvcking up my commute (I drive. I hate riding the metro with the trolls. Crowding cramping crunching, reading their damn newspaper then stumbling all over me. Or it's the tourists, season's about to begin, coming in riding during rush hour. WTF are you thinking you dull witted troglodytes? It's rush hour, yes it's packed, get in the train and put your arm down you stank ripe KC sister diddler. Yeah, they're the guys that punch you in the back of the head and run when you turn around to jack their jaw for'em. Leftist-anarchist, soccer hooligan, hippies, thugs, I've thumped'em all. Leftist anarchists are the most enjoyable though because it's sweet justice to see them cry for their mommies through broken jaws and busted teeth. Not such a bad ass any more are ya? Generally I'm a fun loving pretty much hanging out kind of guy, but these fvckwads show up asking to be thumped on and generally intimidating people until someone who won't be intimidated by their bs comes along and kicks their teeth so far down their throat they have to shove their tofu up their asse to chew. I kinda liked the metro when I was in DC a year ago. Very easy to get one place to the other. Although, when I was done with my 'tourist' activities, I found it was crazy crowded when I went to take the metro all the way back to my hotel. And it wasnt a short ride either, so it wasnt so much fun.

The innuendo of which I speak was in reference to your, I presume, specific choice of guillotine as means of exocution and the hippies choosing the Ides of March to stage their little party.

And the citizenry does have recourse through revolution, however, the fundamental key to that is a well armed citizenry. The best insurance of a representative government is a watchful, wary, and armed populous.

Here's how it's going to go down:

Hippies storm capitol. Hippies summarily thumped down by law enforcement. Hippies cry about mistreatment after attempted coup d'etat (for which they should be executed, but won't).

Let's just say, I'm stuck in traffic, slowing when the hippies are crossing the street might not be on my list of priorities. Wait, it will be. No sense in dinging up my car when I could accomplish the same thing with my boots.

On Serious note, DC has more police departments, and security folks then anywhere in the world. The Federal Protection Service got a whole bunch of new tools and dogs that they need to test. The threat to storm to White House is a federal crime and can be consider a dangerous threat. The Secret Service will be knocking on some doors pretty soon.

It is in no way, shape, or form the same thing as saying "I hate the First Amendment", or parts thereof. My disdain of people who engage in protests is wholly separate from the right guaranteeing them the freedom to do so. Your presumptuous leap to a conclusion that is wholly separate from my statement is further indication of your intellectual dishonesty. You don't even bother to ask the question "why?" but rather to assert a conclusion that is not supported by the statement, but that's just par for the course for you.

When you say "I hate protestors" you are not specifying anything other than the person's act of protest itself as the object of hatred.

When you say "I hate people who engage in protest" then the grammatical object is "people" (in which case the hatred could be about something else.)

I actually dont know crap about the "kent state" thing so if its actually a touchy subject Im sorry......Kent Sate .... where to begin ....well the overall jist is a demonstration over the draft lottery and Cambodia, lasting 4 days ends up with the Ohio state gaurd shooting 4 people ...........
But the abondon ROTC building was on fire , these prostesters where cheering , but according to police officers and firemen , they was hit with rocks , this forced the Gov. of Ohio ( dont remember his name ) to call in the Ohio guard ..... The next day the Guardsmen tried to use tear gas to break up the crowd , that had no effect , then there was some more rock throwing and the guard opened fire , but the pisser is 2 of the students that were killed were not protesting it is alleged they was walking to another class ........This happened back in the 70's and Mega props to amesj , for knowing it ..... it was an ugly time ..........

Scathing report , and I couldnt disagree with it , alot of the emotion over that time , what the author didnt touch on was significance of kent state and why it had such an impact ......... back then when you said protester , you thought of some dippy hippy , high on weed , free love ,commune living ,kids , that didnt understand , that were bad people in this world , that wanted to bad things ....But Kent state showed a new kind of protester , a Richie Cunningham with an attitude , a well to do Kid from the suburbs , Kent State realy changed the face of protesting and who protest ...........

That's Democracy. Gotta deal with a lot of different people and views, and keep the pot from boiling over. It's no surprise that there are only what, 5-6 Democracies that have been in existence longer than 100 years. Even Great Britain wasn't a Democracy before 1911 when the House of Lords was stripped of their veto power over the House of Commons. Democracies are hard to maintain, mostly because the strongest elements of society hate to lose control. Law and Order, baby. Law and Order. It's nearly irresistible sometimes. Just read Henry Kissinger's memoirs of the Nixon years (Kent State was a part of that). What Nixon and a whole lot of other people were scared of was losing the sense of Law and Order. And there was certainly a lot of domestic lawlessness and disorder in those times. Now there is not, but the strongest elements of society like to keep things on the edge of that, so their power is needed. It can get to a vicious circle if there are not enough people that recognize the price of freedom is eternal vigilance, and that eternal vigilance has to start at home. Money and power cliques have to be balanced by citizens. This is a great country, and we didn't get to this point by allowing big money and power cliques to shove Joe Lunchbox around. We got to this point by Joe Lunchbox countering the tendency to consolidation of power by money, power cliques, big business.

What made this country what it is today is labor, unions, the Progressives of Theodore Roosevelt, the "Organize or Perish" movement from 1885-1912. Naturally, a progressive society needs the individuals with grand dreams, the builders, the entrepreneurs, those individuals with the megalomaniacal drive to be the Supreme Ruler of All Mankind, but no way you allow them to get too carried away with themselves. This country is what it is because the mass of the Great Unwashed is a check on those megalomaniacs that potentially have the charisma, the Machiavellianism, the money to become a Supreme Leader type of guy. What made this country great is people that knew well enough and had the backbone to say, "Hey, that's enough from you. Shut up and sit down. We'll decide what the best course is, I've heard enough from you." It's actually a good argument for the 2nd Amendment, the right to "Keep and Bear Arms."

There is a very fine line between Democracy and anarchy. We are all very lucky to be Americans, in a society where the bureaucrats aren't ruled exclusively by bribery or nepotism, or fear of assassination. We are a very solid society, the oldest democracy on this planet. I think the idea of spreading democracy is a great idea. That is the new "Organize or Perish" deal for the planet as a whole. Either the democracies that now exist - and there are only a handful - organize against the anarchist countries, or the democracies will perish.

Excellent post.

As for spreading democracy, I'm all for it, but if Bush's Iraq fiasco proves anything, it's that you can't force democracy on other people at gunpoint.
Indeed, this is a contradiction inasmuch as democracy = self-determination.

(Not that BushCo is really trying to spread democracy; BushCo is trying to spread global corporate hegemony and call it "democracy" or "freedom" when it is, in fact, serfdom and neo-feudalism.)

I say let the Wackos run the country. They couldn't do any worse of a job than what's being done now..
