Raiders only need to cut Gibson and Collins to shave $20m of their number. The skins are trying to restructure everyone on their roster probably.

Madison, Milloy and Jones.

OK, I will take the younger of Jones or Milloy, and pass on Madison.

If Stephen Davis is the one released in Carolina, he might be worth a look. Big strong runner would do well in the AFC West.

I feel bad for Mike Anderson. Guy has been such a good part of this team and has done everything we asked of him and he is released unceremoniously. Cant hate the guy that carried on the salute when Portis wouldn't.

Because the way it works is that Lepsis and Warren's current 12.75 mil is on their cap for the deadline friday. It then drops off when they are free agents and if they sign new deals it would be prudent to say that Denver had at least 7 mil to sign before other restructuring occurs.

Gibson's 10 million dollar option wasnt picked up. His bonus acceleraton was only 800K.

It looks like we cut Ron Stone, Dennard Walker, and Ted Washington.

We're at 8 million and change over the cap now from what I can tell.

The good part about this whole senario is that the last two years Denver has drafted pretty well, but more importantly they have spent wisely in FA. They have really straightened out their cap. Denver has very little dead money on their roster thus they are utlizing every $$$ of the cap, unlike the Redskins Chefs ect....

Adams, Buckner, and the Texans Coleman. Either one of those guys would look nice here. Coleman is up there in age(same age as Fergy) somewhat but still a pretty solid guy. 25 career picks, means he can catch ;D

Collins alone would clear enough room, or Alvis Whitthed + Brad Badger + Adam Treu + (either Hamilton or Curry) would do the trick.

Here's where we stand as far as I can tell

We were at 121,122,304.00

New cap is 94,530,000.00

Total overage 26,592,304

Less Gibson 9,397,000

Less Washington 1,759,000

Less Stone 2,760,000

Less Walker 4,200,000

We're coming in at 8,476,304 over the cap right now.

Some news:

Browns sign DT E Kelley

Dolphins signed PK Aolam Kimrin to NFL Europe

Dolphins could possibly cut DT Kevin Carter, QB Gus Frerotte, and LB Junior Seau. Dolphins have approached Frerotte and Carter about restructuring, while Seau is expected to be released.

Raiders are close to 30 mil over the cap, Chiefs 25 million, Jets 25 before some moves last week. Bucs, Titans, and Falcons are each at least 13 mil over.

LB D Brooks, DE S Rice, and QB B Griese of the Bucs could be released due to cap restraints.

OG Shields has said he will play again next year but not sure where as he may be cut by the chiefs to save money on the cap.

Jets are having a hard time finding any suiters to take on Abraham's 8.3 million salary with everybody being cap strapped.

QB Pennington chances of staying improve with the cap at 94.5 as his 12 milion cap hit if released would be too painful.

Chicago Bears have 17 mil in cap room and are expected to be active players.

RB T Henry agreed to a new contract.

McNair's $50 mil bonus officially declined. WOW TALK ABOUT OVERPAID!!! His cap number is rumored to be anywhere between 23 million and 14 million. OUCH!!

Colts agree to Multi-year deal with LB Brackett.

Jaguars sign DT Meier, LB Gilbert to contracts.

I honestly think there's a good chance we'll bring him back in. The guy is just too valuable to us. He had a solid year, can play two positions, is obviously a leader... and beat out the other guys as our starter. Even if we're going to bring in someone as the starter, I'd love to have Anderson back as a back-up.

Probably depends on how much they end up over. If they dont make any effort to bring the $20m plus down any the NFL should enforce heavier penalties than just fines or draft picks.

Abraham on way out

A trade of Jets defensive end John Abraham is "pretty much done," according to an NFL source, but that transaction along with many others by the Jets and other teams continued to be impacted by the league's growing labor crisis.

Details of the swap were sketchy -- the trading partner and what the Jets would get in return for dealing their disgruntled sackmaster were unspecified. But this much is known: An Abraham trade won't help the Jets get under the salary cap by today's 10 p.m. deadline.

By one accounting, the Jets are $11.1 million over the projected cap of $94.5 million, and a large portion of that figure is the $8.33 million for the franchise tag they pinned on Abraham for the second straight year.

But the Jets can't trade Abraham until the start of the NFL's new calendar year at midnight, meaning they must clear money by this afternoon in other ways.

They could do it by releasing center Kevin Mawae, guard Pete Kendall or both. Mawae is due to count slightly less than $4.5 million under the cap, Kendall slightly more. There are also talks aimed at reducing the cap figures of wide receiver Laveranues Coles, defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson and others. The Jets also will reluctantly allow tight end Chris Baker to become an unrestricted free agent Friday.
