Why should this suprise anyone? Chertoff didn't know people in the Louisiana Superdome were having problems when it was all over the television news 24 hours a day. Just another example of why this administration needs to go.

Scary thought is how many other instances has this happened? I've heard of delegation of authority, but this fiasco gives it a whole new meaning.

Almost akin to Reagan's "convienient amnesia" concerning Oliver North's activities during the Iran Contra affair.

Moral of the story:

You can't entrust the reins of government to people who don't believe in government.

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff was not aware a Dubai-owned company was seeking to operate terminals in six U.S. ports and that his agency was leading the review until after the deal's approval, an administration official said yesterday.
Mr. Chertoff's spokesman, Russ Knocke, told The Washington Times the issue rose no higher than the department's assistant secretary for policy, Stewart Baker.

And to think I sometimes get pissed off at the pot holes here in cabo, God what the hell is happening up there guys?

We're witnessing the complete meltdown of this government. Short of a Coup D'etat, the only thing worse than what we're seeing now is the prospect of Bush not getting impeached and another two years of this madness. Never in my wildest dreams did I think Hillary Clinton might not seem that bad a choice. How could she be worse than this abortion?

In a word . . . burnout. Bush's "team" has been playing a long time, lot's of long hours, lot's of criticism, lot's of failures.

If I remember right, each Cabinet post brought in not only a new top guy, but the assistant leadership positions also. Those people have been on the job 6 years now, trying to lead the bureaucracy that they have tried to eviscerate, tried to remake from top to bottom. They picked a tough row to hoe, and now I think with all the failures they have had, it's starting to wear them down.

19 year-olds strutting around showing off thong panties does tend to energize the office. If Bible-reading, famous-quotes reading, and hard work was all there was to motivation, there wouldn't be much achievement.

We're witnessing the complete meltdown of this government.

Everything is going according to Grover Nutquist's plan on that front.

The grand plan is to dismantle the government so that the corporate interests who put Bush in power are the government.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think Hillary Clinton might not seem that bad a choice. How could she be worse than this abortion?

I cringe at the realization that I might have to pull the lever for her.

The one bright side is that having Hillary in the WH would mean having Bill back in the WH.

If the DEMS can't win the WHITE HOUSE next time we are doomed. Bush and his clueles cronies are making it pretty easy for the DEMS to win IMO, although I thought AMERICA had already gotten it's wake up call last time so who knows. One thing for sure the average JOE American will not be so quick to pull the trigger on another REPUBLICAN without some serious thought. Corporate AMERICA is already lining up to vote in the next REPUBLICAN, Bush has been a wet dream for them. RELIGIOUS freaks that vote based on ONE issue will vote for the REPUBLICANS even if they tear the country apart at it's seams. If the religious community wants to get involved in the political scene, fine let them start paying taxes like the rest of us !!!!

So corporate America and the religious community is a given to the REPUBS, the rest of us better show up at the polls this time ! Hillary is starting to look real good about now, Bill's help won't hurt either. We really don't have a choice, anybody but another REPUBLICAN !

What an idiotic comment. People who attend church don't pay taxes? I could just as easily suggest that if you belong to the Kiwanas club you have no right to vote since that's a non profit entity also.

Corporate America contributes to both sides to cover all their bases, and in case you didn't realize it...Bush got only 12% of the black vote last year, and blacks have the highest rate of church attendance of any ethnic group. They are also overwhelmingly evangelical. Hence, your supposition that the so called religious vote is purely Republican is nonsense.
