View Full Version : More Nuggets trade rumors...

Reminder: Pure rumor right now with no one coming forward to claim it to be in fact true, but some sources from this area are saying that the Cavs have contacted the Nuggets for the services of PG Earl Watson
Cavs starting PG Larry Hughes just had a 2nd surgery done to his finger and will likely miss the rest of the regular season, and possibly the rest of the year. Since Hughes' injury, the Cavs look like just slightly above average out there as the playoffs are still there, but even LeBron admitted today that they do not look like a team that will go anywhere in the playoffs currently.
So Cleveland is shopping around for a PG, and right now it seems as though the Cavs are talking with Denver for Earl Watson and New Orleans/Oklahoma City for Speedy Claxton.
Nothing about what the Cavs are possibly willing to give up or anyone who could be in this deal, just that they are looking into a potential trade for a PG.

It will be interesting to see what the Nugz do, they sure have a quandry on their hand. Their are a lot of guys on the roster with so much intrigue:
K-Mart: Huge contract, bad knees, and bad PR. He's a good player and a team leader when healthy, but dropping his contract would help in the future.
Nene: Injured young talent is likely to leave in the offseason unless Martin is dealt. Asset to teams b/c of his expiring contract.
Watson: Obviously unhappy with his current role as a team can only have so many point guards. He may be the best fit of the three as he provides two elements the Nugz are stuggling with (3 point shooting, defense).
Boykins: As popular as he is, he could be a guy thrown in a trade to make it work. It's hard to imagine Kiki dealing him considering his popularity.
Miller: The wild card to be traded as he was rumored to be on the move last summer. He's a good player but is streaky. Watson may be a better, cheaper, alternative.
Lenard: Butterball was sorely missed last season, now he can't get down court but wants dealt. Problem is, who wants him?
Johnson: His role has decreased to "DNP - Coach's Decsion", but it's doubtful a team will want him knowing he's likely not back next season.

Watson and Nene for Hughes?

Watson and Nene for Hughes?
I doubt it will be for Hughes, because Cavs are looking for a stopgap PG until he is healthy, and plus he would start for the Nuggets once healthy, which leaves Denver with 3 PG's yet again.
I honestly wouldnt be surprised to see it be for either Varajao or Pavlovic, although I'm hoping you guys just take Ira Mewble for him straight up ;)

Do any of you guys think Watson may actually be a better fit as our starting PG then Miller?
I love Dre's ability to score and find the open man but I love the fact Watson can actually drop a 3 and plays tough D.

Larry Hughes is a shooting guard

I don't want to hear any more rumors, I want to see the Nuggets make a move. Specifically one that sends Kenyon Martin out of town. I've officially had it with that pussy.
He played part of the first quarter and then decided that he was done for the night, a far too common occurance. I'm sick of the Nuggets paying this piece of **** max money to play when he feels like it.
I honestly don't care what they get back, just get him out of here as quickly as possible. What a joke Kenyon is. Take your girlfriend Dermarr with you when you go, asshole.

I couldn't agree more. I was so excited when he signed, but now I just want him to leave.

I went to the game tonight. Something needs to happen. The Nuggets really sucked. No effort. Want a joke.

Excellent summary. Thanks, I've been out of touch. I sure hope we don't trade Boykins - he's too cool.
And I agree 100% with your Miller/Watson analysis. I wish we could get a decent 3-pt shooting guard in exchange for Miller and Voshon. Who do the Cavs have at the 2?
I thought Dermarr was a bit overrated because they started him during the long winning streak
down the stretch last year. People forget, but once they pulled him for Boykins or Person, Dermarr usually sat the rest of the game ... and remember he's linked with K-Mart, to some extent - for better or worse.

All I will say is this -- Boykins sucks at life.

I know I'm the Dre homer so everything I say has to be taken with a grain of salt, but while I love Watson, he's not near Dre as a PG. The offense flows better when Dre is in there. And as for Watson's three point shooting, he was really hot for a while there, but he's cooled down recently. I still think you hold on to Dre unless you get an offer that knocks your socks off.

How about LeBron James last night?
43 points 12 boards 11 assists 4 blks 2 steals. That's a great line. To me, that's much better than scoring 81 points. He had a monster dunk on Delonte West in that game too.
LeBron should be completely dominant in a couple of years.

No flow last night. Nugs have one of the worst Half court O's I have ever seen( Last night was a PRIME example). If Dre is responisble for the "flow" he should be let go, traded, or shot.

The flow isn't Andre's fault, IMO.
I think there's a couple things, but the fact is, any team that can play even halfway decent defense can figure the Nuggets out: Pack it in the middle and make us shoot.
More often then not, here's what happens: Carmelo is double teamed, he kicks it out to a wide open shooter, and then.....
Clank.
Once we can get a guy or 2 who can hit a jump shot, it's going to open things up in a big way. Until then, we're not going to have a halfcourt offense besides feeding it to Carmelo. In fact, shooting percentage be damned, I'm about ready to just say **** it and let Carmelo shoot everytime down the floor.

its like kmart took all the failings of the nets and teleported them to denver.
its perfectly fine to try to run to score easy points, but don't BUILD ur team to run.
