Dean blames party's "skullduggery" for withdrawal of popular Ohio Senate candidate
MIAMI Democratic party chair Howard Dean says he's not happy that Iraqi war veteran Paul Hackett is dropping out of the race for U-S Senate in Ohio.
Dean told a student audience in Miami that "some skulduggery in Washington" improperly led to Hackett's decision to end his bid. And he said Democrats will have a tough time winning if similar things happen to others.
Hackett was vying with Ohio congressman Sherrod Brown for the Democratic nomination. He said that Hackett was a "great candidate," and that a primary in Ohio wouldn't have hurt the party. Hackett says he's ending his eleven-month political career.

LOL No I believe this is ......But then you are a republican , American constitution means nothing to you ........
Whistleblower says NSA violations bigger
WASHINGTON, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- A former NSA employee said Tuesday there is another ongoing top-secret surveillance program that might have violated millions of Americans' Constitutional rights.
Russell D. Tice told the House Government Reform Subcommittee on National Security, Emerging Threats and International Relations he has concerns about a "special access" electronic surveillance program that he characterized as far more wide-ranging than the warrentless wiretapping recently exposed by the New York Times but he is forbidden from discussing the program with Congress.
Tice said he believes it violates the Constitution's protection against unlawful search and seizures but has no way of sharing the information without breaking classification laws. He is not even allowed to tell the congressional intelligence committees - members or their staff - because they lack high enough clearance.
Neither could he brief the inspector general of the NSA because that office is not cleared to hear the information, he said.
Subcommittee Chairman Rep. Christopher Shays, R-Conn., and Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, said they believe a few members of the Armed Services Committee are cleared for the information, but they said believe their committee and the intelligence committees have jurisdiction to hear the allegations.
"Congressman Kucinich wants Congressman Shays to hold a hearing (on the program)," said Doug Gordon, Kucinich's spokesman. "Obviously it would have to take place in some kind of a closed hearing. But Congress has a role to play in oversight. The (Bush) administration does not get to decide what Congress can and can not hear."
Tice was testifying because he was a National Security Agency intelligence officer who was stripped of his security clearance after he reported his suspicions that a former colleague at the Defense Intelligence Agency was a spy. The matter was dismissed by the DIA, but Tice pressed it later and was subsequently ordered to take a psychological examination, during which he was declared paranoid. He is now unemployed.
Tice was one of the New York Times sources for its wiretapping story, but he told the committee the information he provided was not secret and could have been provided by an private sector electronic communications professional.

That's where I would start, and then, I would look at comparitive history from that period, which supports his existence (see Josephus, Pliny, et al.). You really have to jump though some theoretical hoops to come up with the idea that he didnt exist at all.

Im not talking about impact on individuals, but history. Jesus had a major impact on the dominant western philosophy and social structure since his entry into public knowledge. The two largest empires during the period following his life have been largely associated with Christianity. Rome and America. You can include Great Britian, Germany, and the western European Empires in there too.
When you include the spread of Christianity into S. America and Africa that eventually followed through worldwide trade, you have a HUGE worldwide impact.

You are entering into the main skeptical argument against the resurrection. You dont trust the accounts of the Bible and that's understandable if you havent been exposed to it much. That's part of the reason why the Bible has 4 different accounts of Jesus' life, events, and ultimately his resurrection. The resurrection is also a major theme included in Paul's letters. Paul was a Jewish government official who had been in the organization that pushed to have Jesus crucified and to have his followers killed. Paul literally killed Jesus' followers. "Christians" were seen as a threat to Jewish power under the rule of Rome, who would have possibly squashed the Jews and removed them from the political process completely if Jesus had led a revolution.

You dont have to have faith to understand by reading that information that Jesus was a significant historical figure whose existence led to some important historical events. Logic is needed there.
There is so much evidence for Jesus' existence that one would need more faith to deny it than to aknowledge it.
Also, being around the Bible doesnt really equate to being exposed to the information between its' covers. It takes some education to understand what is happening there. Especially if you find some of it illogical.

Dont trust King James, look at a greek interlinear (which gives original Greek and the literal english translations side by side) or look at a translation that you are more comfortable with. Skepticism over translations is an issue that many Christians face, and one that is adequately resolved by getting the appropriate materials that one feels comfortable with. I have the original Greek (new testament) and the original Hebrew (old testament) texts. I have also found Bibles that point out disputed translations in footnotes below the questionable texts, which I like. None of the translation differences are dramatic enough to cause me to question the authenticity. Ironically, the King James Version is notoriously bad for use today.

Clark Griswold is expecting a Xmas bonus check in the mail to pay for a pool for his family that he had been dreaming about during the movie. The thing comes in the mail and his whole family gathers around him to see what he got because he had been hinting at a pool or something big during the movie. He opens it up and finds a subscription to the "jelly of the month club" instead of a bonus. His boss had cut out the bonuses that year as a cutback without telling anyone. He goes on a explitive-laced tirade for a couple of minutes, and makes a rhetorical request for his boss to be brought to him as a christmas present. Cousin Eddie is a hick redneck with a couple of brain cells battling it out for Clark. Eddie drives his trashed out RV over to his bosses house and kidnaps him on Christmas Eve.

I would vote Republican a lot more, but I have two hot issues with the current crop of Republican candidates - one, I will not vote for somebody that supports cutting taxes on incomes in the million and up realm, period.
Two, I like clean air, clean water, clean land, and wilderness areas, period.
I have to hold my nose a lot voting Democrat, but those two issues are clearly in the Democratic platform, and completely off the table in the Republican platform.

LOL that brought back a flood of memories , this one earned me a trip to the hospitial , but I hitchedup the hay wagon to Dads John Deere , and me and my buddies went out to go party , well I was 3 sheets to the wind , when the bull ( charbray) came walking up looking for some hay , I told Buck , I can ride that bastard , so I climbed up on the tractor and leaped on to the back of this bull with no riggin........ He stomped a mud hole in me right there on the spot ......
