PHOENIX (AP) -- The Arizona Cardinals signed Kurt Warner to a three-year contract Tuesday, ending speculation about their quarterback plans.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The deal means the 34-year-old Warner, a two-time NFL Most Valuable Player who started 10 games for the Cardinals in an injury-shortened 2005 season, will enter training camp as the starter.

This is a good move for them, despite Warner's age.

Darren Urban, of the East Valley Tribune, reports Arizona Cardinals QB Kurt Warner's new, three-year contract with the team could be worth as much as $22 million if he hits all the incentives during the life of the deal. Warner is expected to make around $7 million in the first year of the deal. Warner had been scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March. Warner will return as the starter, with QB Josh McCown expected to leave with his own free agency. Warner will be 39 by the end of the contract, but vice president of football operations Rod Graves said the deal is structured in such a way so the Cardinals can absorb the entire thing if Warner's play remains at a productive level.

Insert Jake Plummer joke here.

Warner’s 85.8 quarterback rating last season was the best QB rating for a Cardinals signal caller since Neil Lomax in 1988 (86.7) and his five 300+ passing games in 2005 led the NFL and were the most 300+ passing games he has had since his NFL MVP season of 2001.

Maybe this isn't a bad move.

A lost and floundering team signs an old and broken QB that has to be protected by a poruous O-line. Nothing much worth mentioning here. Even though Jake wont come out and say it, I imagine he considers his departure from AZ as a "rescue."

It's worth noting that no QB has thrown more than 15 interceptions in one season as an Arizona Cardinal since Plummer.

And none of them have taken the Cardinals to the playoffs either.

I guess it's a good move. He gives them the best chance to win right now. If they don't at least make a significant improvement this coming season then Green will get canned.

He has taken Arizona to the playoffs and won. He has taken Denver to the playoffs and won. What has your QB accomplished again?

Your a tool.

The Cards started 3 different QBs in 2005. Total Int's 21

In 2004 again 3 different QB's. 18 total Int's

In 2003 2 different QB's 21 total Int's.

Not to mention none had more than 13 TD passes!

Did I mention their record the last three seasons?
4-12, 6-10, 6-10

Oh ya Trent Green looked great in the pro bowl also.........

Denni will shore up that OL thru the draft and via FA this offseason. Id almost gurantee a playoff spot for the Cards next year. I am really excited to see how the hometown team does next year. The only real x-factor is Graves, Cards usually always have money, but they are cheap. If they use up their cap, they will be a real solid team. Them moving into the new stadium will also be a big boost here in the valley.

I would not give Kurt Warner a $3 contract.

The guy is way past his prime.

He's sucked in the playoffs everywhere he's been. He's laughable. He's ridden defensive performances to his only playoff wins. Any quarterback could have done that.

Apparently not TrINT. He's still sitting on zero at age 35. Hilarious!

TrINT is a loser and will retire with that legacy firmly in tact. He's a true Chef through and through.

You should go find an Arizona board to troll Bob. They're one of the few teams whose playoff history is more pathetic than yours. Of course, they have won a playoff game more recently......with Jake Plummer under center.

Through no fault of his own. He's been extremely good in Kansas City.

So TrINT needs a defense to carry him? Gee, according to you that's a badge of shame for a QB.

Extremely good, but not quite good enough.

You better pray Roaf and Shields decide they want to dedicate their tired old bodies to a new offensive scheme (highly unlikely) Green is breaking down and it's showing. It's downhill from here for stint-leg.

Sure doesn't. He needs one that doesn't ABSOLUTELY SUCK.

Oh, so losing Al Saunders will change nothing at all? You're telling me you have a new head coach and new OC, and with a straight face you can say:

"Nothing is Changing! There will be no changes in our offense whatsoever! Our coaching staff has kept the brains of Saunders and Vermeil. Trent Green is 22 years old and Roaf and Shields will return, God willing!"

CO, you're confusing the laundry-list of Chef excuses. I know, I know, it's hard to keep track of them because there are just so many.

Last year was the O-Line, the year before was the bad defense.

You insinuated that Roaf and Shields would have to dedicate themselves to a "new offensive scheme."

You are wrong. We will be running the same scheme. Solari might call the plays differently, but that will be the only real difference.

You are a dumbass. Goodnight.

DEFENSE.

If Dick4Meal had bothered to address the defense when you had that dominant offense, you would of gotten to the dance...

We kept telling you, and you were always in denial...now Dick4Meal and Sanders are both gone, your offense is old except for diaper boy and even the defense, while improved, is old.

There is only one starter over 30 on our defense. How does it feel to be pwned?
