Looks like wisenhunt wants to stay with pittsburg after meeting with oakland. The raiders are looking to become the joke of the NFL if they already arent.

I'll take the job. I can run that team under just as well as the next. In my case it would be on purpose but could you really tell the difference?

I've already put my name in the hat to coach the team...without the sack on my forehead.
What's wrong with going 0-16? I could help them make history. Al Davis loves stuff like that.
If you were coach of the Raiders, what would you do?
Move Randy Moss to DT?
Make Sapp run laps during games?
Bench Collins, and only play with 10 players? Just snap the ball right to Jordan and run every play. It can't be any worse then what they already do.
Lets here what you would do. This should be good.

I would make that fatass run laps during practice! I bet he hasn't done that since high school!

Yeah, but it would be so much funnier to see him doing laps during games.

That would depend on one's perspective, I suppose. Some might debate whether administrative decisions made by Al Davis have been all that much worse than those made by Carl Peterson in recent years...

Didn't this same exact thing happen the last time the Raiders were looking for a coach? They had a few coaches turn the job down, so they settled for Norv. Now they are going to settle for Shell.
This team isn't getting out of last place for a long time.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. They could get out of last place if Big Al dies - and from the looks of him, that could be at any moment.
In fact, I keep telling people around here that I think he died a few years ago, and the Raiders had him stuffed by a taxidermist to prop him up in the owner's box at games. He's nothing more than a big, angry-looking puffalump (whose soul is currently burning in hell).
Gary Barnett and Neuhiesel. Get Ryan Leaf outta where-the-f!@k ever he is. Move over Indy!!

And what is up with Art Shell? According to the article, he has already told Davi$ that he is ready IF they decide to hire him. That's like telling a girl, "Ok, you go have sex with all those other guys, and if none of them are any good, then call me . . . "

Whisenhunt, Petrino won't coach for Raiders
By John Clayton
ESPN.com
After having a good visit Wednesday with Raiders boss Al Davis, Steelers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt informed the Raiders that he would stay with the Steelers.
Whisenhunt left Oakland Wednesday night on a red-eye flight without an offer. He was told by Davis that the team would get back to him in a couple of days. Conversations with the team and Whisenhunt continued Thursday morning until Whisenhunt decided that staying with the Steelers was his best move.
While talking to Whisenhunt, the Raiders apparently made an offer to Louisville coach Bobby Petrino, who turned them down Wednesday night, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported. It was the third overture to Petrino, who said he was flattered but wanted to remain in Louisville.
With Whisenhunt out of the picture, the Raiders could move quickly to return former Raiders coach Art Shell to head coaching duties. Shell interviewed Feb. 2 and told Davis he's ready to serve when necessary. Shell is in the Tampa area for the next couple of days, but he told Davis he's ready to accept the job if offered.
Whisenhunt's agent, Eric Metz, stayed over in Oakland on Thursday night, but he left town Thursday without any deal being offered and knowing Whisenhunt's decision.
For Whisenhunt, it was going to be hard to leave a Super Bowl team, particularly one with the youngest quarterback to win a Super Bowl, Ben Roethlisberger. By staying, Whisenhunt can continue to expand the passing offense around Roethlisberger for an organization that has a chance to return to the Super Bowl in the next few years.
The Raiders had the luxury of waiting until after the Super Bowl to hire a head coach because they have the ability to keep many of the assistant coaches from last year's staff. Should Shell get the job, he will only have to make a couple of hires.
Hilarious! Ha! :giggle:

Just glad Petrino had the good sense to turn them down. He could be in line for a good job next year. Will have a great offense at Louisville next year if they stay healthy - probably the best RB in the country and one of the best QBs

Last night JT the Brickhead was saying how the Raiders job has always been a coveted and proud position.....Madden, Flores, etc.....
Wrong again!
When I heard today that Whisenhunt wasn't going for it I definitely chuckled. JT is always looking for acceptance by gaining "bad boy Oakland" friends.
The fade is going nowhere fast. How much time can Ted Washington and Sapp have left? Or should I say...when will they cut their losses and FADE into the sunset with their SB rings?

Whisenhunt was never offered the job.
Petrino claims he doesnt want to move his kid since it's his SR year of HS. Davis offered him 5 years 18.5 million but with only 2 guaranteed. If he bumps that to 3, I'd say we'd probably get him.
