I knew my share and were they annoying. Only to be taken over by Cowboy fans during my high school years because of where I grew up. I had a friend named David Martinez and he would talk sh*t about Denver. After the MNF game against KC in 94 I were a Bronco shirt the next day and the last person I wanted to see was him. Sure enough before the first bell rang "What happen Soto (my last name)" "I told you Broncos suck" The last game at Mile High when the score was something like 31-0 I looked in the phonebook for David Martinez I called the only David Martinez in the book hoping it was him and it was. Asked him if he remebered me which he did. Unloaded years worth of sh*t on him and told him I would call him back after the game. He said he wouldn't answer which he didn't or ever again. I know I wasn't the only one that had to deal with 49er fans growing up. Anybody else grow up with cocky 49er fans only to wonder. Where are they now?

All of my buddies that were Niner fans are probably all Steeler fans now...

Great post. So, so true. I was sick of the bandwagoners. I had this friend when I was little. Watching games with him was such an annyoing experience. His motto was "I want whoever is winning to win." He said that all the time. He always rooted for the obvious choices coming into a game and then would start rooting for whoever was leading or had momentum. No loyalty at all (except to Alabama football.)

We kind of grew apart but He was a niner fan in the eighties, then a Cowboy fan in high school, and I can only imagine he's currently a Patriots fan but considering the move to Colts or Steelers depending on how next season goes. He'll probably end up being a Bronco fan, though. ;)

Yeah, i know those losers. I saw this old friend from claifornia in Cherry creek mall when i came out for a game. We always talked about the Broncos in 1988 and 99 (then dropped the loser as a friend). I came up to him at the mall to say hi and there he was, twirp wearing a Cowboys shirt. This was a few years before we won the two superbowls. I wonder if he switched back. OF COURSE HE DID. Losers need a winner.

The bandwagon fans from my childhood were cheering for Pittsburgh. I was ready to kill most of them the day after the Rams/Steelers Super Bowl. Especially the frecklefaced queer who stood there telling people Terry Bradshaw was the best quarterback of all time.

In my youth it was the Cowboy fans....including my mother! She was pretty die hard until Jerry Jones took over the team and got rid of Landry. She was incensed so she said she was switching to the Lions (where she was born). We had many arguments and then the Cowboy-Bronco SB where she tongue lashed me for years. To this day they are only slightly more hated than the Raiders. Where I live it was SF, Steve Young connection. Tons of 49er jackets. Talking crap to me to this day about that SB. But funny thing, all those jackets must be in mothballs, because you don't see them anymore. Their replaced by jackets of the current SB champs each year. Pathetic.

Always a Bronco fan....growing up on the Jersey shore, everyone was either for the Giants, Eagles, or Cowboys...a few Jets...

My older brother is a niners fan. He still tries to keep that cocky attitude, but it doesn't mean so much when that team is in last place every year.

I grew up as a Niner's fan (lived in the Bay area), and my brother is still a big fan. I guess they are my NFC team, but the Broncos have been my team since 1975.

When Denver won XXXII, I called him, and all he said was, "So what's that make your record now? And who is still 5-0?" Dammit. 8-)

I was dating this girl back in 96 (I think) who was a 9'ers fan. I was watching a game that Denver lost to the niners. She calls right after the game to talk ****...I dumped her on the spot! Wasn't the only reason but was kinda like the final straw!

my brother is a 9ers fan. He still is to this very day. Its fun to give him crap about how bad that team has become and how they started to suck when the NFL made the cap.

Niner fans were basically just gay Raiders fans. That's all I've got to say about that.

I spent from 1977 to 1992 in the SF Bay Area.

You can imagine my pain.

I grew up in NM, too. Boy, 1989, you couldn't FIND a Cowboys fan.... 4 years later, and they were coming outta the wood works. Every team, including Denver, has bandwagon fans. But, good God, for my money Dallas is far and away has the worst bandwagon fans in the nation. In the 80s it was Niners fans... a few Faiders fans... In the mid 90s, a bunch of Packers fans... then Denver caught fire.

Yeah, whats worse was, I remember right after the 2nd SB win in '99 I was in Mississippi where I was first stationed, Id get so much crap for wearing my Bronco hat there, ppl telling me i was a bandwagoner and such. I got soooo friggin mad that, first chance i got leave and came back home I grabbed and found all the old Broncos tix I had from the early 90's when we were somewhat mediocre and put em up all over my room, truck, etc to show ppl where I've always stood. And thats worse is when your in a foreign land, and your team is on top, ppl assume your are one. I guess my point is, not only do those losers show themselves as, well, not true fans, but they screw it up for us diehards as well.

That'd piss me off as well.

Another one that always got me is when we were winning Super Bowls I'd see someone wearing a Broncos jersey, go up to them and try to talk Bronco football only to find the dreaded bandwagon fan :pity:

Santa Fe. Havent lived there since 1988... seems like forever. I love the town - location, size, weather. On the other hand, its the only place you can have a conversation with someone about the affects of the aliens on the environment - and that person be sincere.

How about going up to a guy a few years ago in a sports bar where he was wearing a Portis jersey. Tried to start some talk and see if he was going to the Denver vs Charger game in San Diego. He replied, "Oh, i am not a Broncos fan. I wear the Portis jersey because he is on my fantasy football team." What a loser nerd. I just gave him a "What the F**k" look. When Portis got traded, I thought of that dork and what he would do with the jersey now.

My sister was one of Steve Youngs 1/2 hour dinner dates when he was single (still just pisses me off to this day) - so all my 3 sisters and mom can talk about is ....' how are the 49ers this year (and that be the extent of their interest in the NFL)?' I hate talking to them about football b/c of that one experience and its years of repurcussions. You should hate the 49ers and so should all Broncos fans- 55-10.

Hilarious!

Most of my friends are Cowboys fans, or fans of teams who are "hot", its a joke, and i cant talk football with them.
