Plummer to miss Pro Bowl
By Bill Williamson
Denver Post Staff Writer

Honolulu - Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer will not be making his first Pro Bowl appearance afterall when the AFC and NFC stars square off Sunday.

A Pro Bowl spokesman said today that Plummer will miss the game and the trip to Hawaii because of a hamstring injury. He will be replaced on the AFC roster by Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair.

Plummer originally was the No. 2 alternate at quarterback for the AFC. However,

No. 1 alternate Drew Brees of San Diego suffered a torn labrum while playing against the Broncos on Dec. 31 and underwent surgery.

Joe Namath. The upside is the ratings bump the game will get when Bonnie Bernstien does the sideline interview with him.

Sounds like a cop-out to me...

How'd a ham string injury, much less one bad enough to keep him out of a game, pop up all of a sudden? Especially for a player as durable as Jake?

I think he didn't want to be there as an alternate, is moderately humiliated by his (and the team's) performance in the AFC championship game, doesn't care about Pro Bowl anyway, or all of the above.

I don't care if Plummer plays or not, he was picked ahead of TrINT and that's enough satisfaction for me. Well, that and him throwing more TD's than TrINT, less INT's, having a higher QB rating and actually winning a playoff game.

Jesus people give the guy a freaking break!

Brady had a hernia, that noone knew of, maybe Jae had a injury and hope'd it would improve. Hammy's do taht awhile to recover from (ask Champ).

Not to mention our coach is going and maybe he advise jake to sit it out.

Gawd you people are so fickle somethings. Make's me sick.

Hell if Jake isn't playing because he had a bad AFC Championship game, which wasn't all his fault, then Champ should be pulling out anyday now.

I'm bumed also. Put let's face it we have bigger things to acomplish! Playing a meaningless game and possibly having our starting qb hurt is not one of them!

I can't believe anyone is even talking about it. It's the Pro Bowl! I seriously haven't watched a Pro Bowl since - I don't think I have ever watched a Pro Bowl, now that I think about it.

They should just abolish the game altogether. Way too many players make it because of injuries to those in front of them, so the honor gets cheapened. Plus, it's football - not baseball or basketball, where you can basically put together a pick-up game and have it be entertaining. Nothing good can come from the Pro Bowl game - best case, you have a mediocre game with no injuries; worst case; you have a mediocre game with injuries. Where is the upside?

Good for Jake for not playing - whatever his reasoning. I wish the rest of the Broncos would come down with "strained hamstrings" and beg out of the game.

Good point. I can't remember the last time I watched the Pro Bowl either. They should just make it a flag football game because nobody hits anyway. It's perfect for Manning.

If 4 QB's in the AFC have now backed out of the game, can they still say they were Pro-Bowlers?

I'm not surprised though.
Why would he want to go as an alternate selection...

How about a free trip to hawaii and probably 5 snaps. Hell, I don't think you can even blitz in that game.

I still can't believe Bradshaw blew off the SuperBowl. First, he was a 4 ring steeler QB, and he's a media figure. This wasn't an autograph session or a corporate appearance....don't those two make enough in endorsements to have some respect for the HOF...If I ran the show and these two dumped on me for no good reason but money, I would kick their asses out of the HOF.

They flew them in, two tickets, room and board in a 5 star...red carpet. So what if they only were paying them 1k...you don't always take take take...disgusting...the loathing of Bradshaw has been enhanced...Montana's "I have to go to my kids HS basketball game" routine was also pretty lame. Hey Joe...your kid is going to have more games. You fly in, stay overnight, appear and hell, I don't care if you scalp the tickets or just take a free ride to the airport. Pisses me off.
