Charean Williams, of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports San Diego Chargers LB Randall Godfrey is retiring after ten seasons in the NFL. Godfrey expects to sign a one-day contract soon with the Dallas Cowboys and retire with the team that started his career.

He was a good player but why is it important for him to retire a Cowboy? He'll never be in their ring of fame or anything.

A good solid player. That's it.

Back in 2000 with the Tennesse Titans, Godfrey was argubly the best middle linebacker in pro football. Very underappreciated career. I don't think he ever earned a trip to the Pro Bowl. It seems like it was just yesterday when he was wrecking havoc as a Bulldog down in Athens. Time sure flies!
