Bob Raissman, of the New York Daily News, reports FOX Sports James Brown may be leaving Fox's NFL Sunday to join the competition - CBS' "The NFL Today." According to industry sources, CBS Sports has made Brown, who teams with Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long and Jimmy Johnson on Fox's pregame, an offer to move into Greg Gumbel's anchor chair next season on "The NFL Today." One source said Brown already has decided to move to CBS. If he does jump networks, Brown would work with Dan Marino, Shannon Sharpe and Boomer Esiason on the CBS show. Gumbel expressed a desire to return to a play-by-play role.

It will take a big man to fill Greg Gumbel's chair.

It doesn't matter....IMO, none of those pre-game shows are worth much...NFL Countdown was the best far and away until they added Irvin, which made the show exactly like every other networks pregame show. Guess having that kind of "personality" on the set is a must in order to capture the junior high school demographic........or something.

Is Countdown even coming back next year? I know they're putting Primetime to sleep...does the same fate await Countdown?

I don't know what's gonna take the place of Primetime for me...been trying to get into HBO's Inside The NFL most of last season. It's been hard to say the least, mainly because listening to Collingsworth & Carter is the aural equivelent to getting teeth pulled without novocaine. Is The George Michael Sports Machine still around any place?? As lame as it was/is, it still gave the viewers the highlights w/out all the BS commentary & theatrics......something that's sorely missed these days.

I like ESPN before the Sunday games, they have something about every team, not just the AFC or NFC for the most part, like the CBS/FOX pre=game shows. Plus Boomer is just sh!t when it comes to being fuinny and insightful!

Rumbelin' bumbelin' stumbelin', LMAO! His different sound effects crack me up!
