View Full Version : Colts | James feels his Colts' days are over
Mike Chappell, of the Indianapolis Star, reports Indianapolis Colts RB Edgerrin James has resigned himself to the fact he won't be with the team in 2006. "I don't see nothing happening,'' he said Thursday night, Feb. 2, after a taping session in Detroit with the NFL Network. "You can read between the lines and from the things I'm hearing, nothing's going to happen." The team had no comment on James' statements. When the veteran free agent market opens March 3, he'll see who's interested in a consummate running back who has rushed for a club-record 9,226 yards and amassed 12,065 total yards from scrimmage. "Maybe I'll get to a situation where somebody appreciates me,'' James said. "I'm going to always be a ballplayer. You know I've got game. You can't knock what I do."

only way someone is getting james is if they pay him through his dotage. probably two awesome years left in him followed by 1-3 ok years.

A hell of a running back. The Colts cannot afford him if they're thinking of keeping Reggie Wayne. One or the other has to go. Talk about a player who should've been used in the Pitt game. Instead, they went with Manning & the air game. Stupid move.

James is an animal at RB, just as yavoon said, a couple great years, then a couple more ok years, id take that for the right price.

I'd take either James or Wayne, depending on who they decide to jettison.

Wayne has Harrison on the other side. He hasn't had the chance to become #1. Edge, on the other hand, proves he can do it. Blame the stupid Colts for not using Edge in the playoffs.
Makes sense though... RB's are easier to find & they're a dime a dozen. A decent WR is much more difficult to find. But, in Wayne's case, he's never been the #1 guy.

there are only two really smart moves here, keep wayne and dump edge or dump both and start resigning ur defense.
keeping edge or keeping both are both ill advised. sorry edge.

lets not get too carried away here. dominic rhodes has had 1000 yard seasons for manning. infact didnt they go 10-6 w/o edge and w/o a defense? atleast now they have a defense.
all u ppl hoping for peytons demise will probably be disappointed.

I wouldn't be too comfortable with Rhodes as the main RB if I were a Colts fan. Good thing I'm not.

Colts have a good offensive philosophy, good players. They dont think they need James. But for all the pyrotechnics at WR, the guy who gets them a 1st on 3rd and short wont be there. Rhodes is no James.

I'd rather Ricky than Edge. Ricky has proven he can get 1,800 yards in an offense with an average OLine and no threat of a passing game. Teams knew he was going to run 2 out of every 3 downs, stacked the box and they still couldn't stop him. Edge on the other hand only seems to excel when teams drop 8 into coverage, because Manning scares the hell out of them. I just get the feeling that Edge would never have performed as well as Ricky has in Miami.
Two other factors in Ricky's favor: money (Ricky would definitely accept less money than Edge) and mileage (Ricky really hasn't been used much in the last two years).

That's true, but that was his best year. His other years he averaged 3.5, 4.0, 4.0 and 3.5 ypc. 4.4 this year.

Hey Edge, I know you are from the U and all and you have an image to uphold but here is some money, maybe not as much as a few other really bad teams can pay you but remember, We were in the AFC Championship game and Indy comes to Mile High next year.
Edge, Ricky or good pick in draft, something needs to be done.

Exactly. There is no way we can come up with the kind of cash he wants. I am willing to give Ricky a shot cause he will play for about 1/2 of what james wants, cause all he needs in enough money to buy his next sack. But hey I am willing to chance that

"I'm not part of the problem," James told The Indianapolis Star for a Friday story."

Ricky yes, TO no.
Ricky because of a couple of reasons. I think he is a very explosive running back that would really stomp ass in our system. I think financial worries will, more than anything, keep him in line now and I do believe that if we dont run him into the ground then he will be happy in Denver. Further, he will come a LOT cheaper than Edge.

James is gone, running backs are easier to find than WR. I would like to see him go and I'll bet he ends up in AZ.

Colts | James plans to improve
Fri, 3 Feb 2006 10:23:47 -0800
Mike Chappell, of the Indianapolis Star, reports Indianapolis Colts RB Edgerrin James plans to take part in the Pro Bowl, take two weeks off and then attack his normal offseason workout program in South Florida. James is in disbelief people still bring up his previous knee injury. He believes he has been able to successfully overcome it, as shown by his 1,506 rushing yards during 2005 - his fourth 1,500-yard season. "I'm going to be a better player," James said, as he has vowed to be even better next season.

So E. James is at the Pro-bowl. Shanny is coaching the Pro-bowl, Jake, Rod, AW,Champ are all playing in the Pro-bowl. Seems like a recruiting trip to me!
