He is also the most worthless player ever to score fantasy football points. He deserves the HOF for that one.
Not only that, but he's got the quickest feet for a fat guy ever.

Nah...he's gotta be 600 pounds at least. He's filled up with a bunch of mini-Ditka's. Mini Ditkas live in his legs and power those supremely fast fat guy feet.
Forget Terrell Davis, his MVP award, and his superbowl MVP trophy...Bettis plays in Pittsburgh and is powered by fat-guy-quick-feet. He might only have 5 yards in a game, but he scores touchdowns!

Has there ever been a back lauded so greatly for averaging what, like 32 yards per 15 carries a game? He was a HOFer in his prime, but now... I'd call him way overhyped.
Go Seahawks.

A career 3.9 percarry average, and his best year ever he ran for 1660 yards. This is a case of longevity earning respect over ability. Oh and his career year for TD's was only 13 and that was after he became the goalline specialist.
Just for fun, here's the best years of 2 Running backs, only one is considered a lock for the Hall.

Well, duh. Of course his best days are behind him.
Elway's best days were behind him when he slipped on 2 rings.
Does that mean Elway didn't deserve one, or that it's nice to see a HOF'er end his career with a ring?
Nice guys like Bettis, Favre, or Elway make people who don't like their teams pull for them to get a ring.
Then there are total d!ckheads like Marino yer' glad never won one...

Bettis aint no Elway and he aint no Favre. He's an also-ran next to those two. Those two guys might just be the greatest QB's of all-time. Bettis is a 3rd and 1 player.

Bettis is top 10 all time in rushing. He got INSANE amounts of carries for most of his career.
So, we should discount anything Favre accomplished throughout his career because he's an INT machine now?
Stupidity...

Favre is a damn good QB.
His team is just so......SUCK. There isn't much he can do.
I wouldn't put him on my best of all time list. Perhaps a top 15 QB of all time. He's a sure HOF'er though...

I think I have spent about 5 minutes total this week looking at espn or any of the other sports sites. I just want the game, not the overblown crap that seems to be coming out of everyone's mouth about Bus this and Bettis that.:espnsux:
Anyone else thinking after this week the most disrespected team in football is actually the Seahawks?

Earlier this week, someone told Jerome Bettis that certain Seattle players questioned whether he was truly 255 pounds. Bettis said, "They don't believe we are a good football team, either." Now, does Bettis truly perceive this as reality? I can't believe that he does. And I realize the conventional wisdom is that jocks use disrespect as a "motivating factor," but that can't be true, either; real people simply aren't stupid enough to trick themselves into insecurity every single week for five consecutive months.

One reason why ESPN totally hoped the Broncos would lose was the lack of an effective story if they'd won. Since the Steelers won the game, that fear is now moot.....they have their story to hype and while it's no "Colts team of destiny" or "Pats going for a three-peat", it is a story nonetheless.......
welcome to "Jerome Bettis in his last year as a pro trying to win a SB in his hometown" 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
It's not what they wanted to sell this game...but, at least it's something to get Mr. & Mrs. "I Need Flash!!" to tune in on Feb. 5th

See...that's the thing. Bettis made his name off of carries. Not from dominating like a hall of famer should. No matter how many 1000 yard seasons the guy had, he still never carried the big stick that Elway, Farve, Marino, Barry Sanders, Terrell Davis, Shannon Sharpe, or any of the guys who were outstanding at their position during their respective eras did. IMO, Bettis just coasted by feeding off of the Pittsburgh running game for all those years. Bettis will get in for longevity, not for greatness. He's the opposite of TD.

It's sad too...Is the game simply not enough anymore?? Does the American sports fan need a side story to motivate him/her to watch the Super Bowl?? For Chrissake, I remember watching the 7th Super Bowl man, and I got prolly more excited then than now!! Pfffffft!

It's not about the American sports fan, it's about getting the non-sports fans to tune in and boost ratings...and for that, you need a storyline because the Rolling Stones at age 60 + and a bunch of cute commercials are just not gonna cut it anymore.
So yeah, you're correct...the game just isn't enough anymore, especially if it isn't "sexy"
