Buried in an article about Dinger was this little bit about David Terrell. Hopefully Dinger and Rod can help him to live up to his potential. His developement in this system could squash all the TO talk.

David Terrell caught 128 passes in his first four NFL seasons. In his fifth season, his first with the Broncos, Terrell didn't catch a pass.
However, it's the season he most cherished.
"It sounds strange, doesn't it?" Terrell said Sunday night. "But it's the truth. I learned so much this year. This has been the best year of my career, because I got better this year. I was stale all of those years in Chicago. I felt alone. Here in Denver, I felt like I became a NFL player, and I became a great player because I am here."
While being inactive 14 of the 15 games he was on the roster, Terrell spent the season learning Denver's system. He likely will get a chance to be the team's No. 3 receiver next season.
He said he learned more this year than years past because of the presence of No. 1 receiver Rod Smith and Shanahan.
"I had a real coach and a real leader helping me," said Terrell, who plans to work out with Smith this offseason. "This year was all worth it because of what these guys taught me."

If he's Rod's shadow during the offseason he could really contribute

I gotta say, after seeing what TO did to the Eagles chemistry this season, I'm not sure I want to see him in Orange and Blue next year. The guy is poison, and has proved it not once, but twice. I hope David Terrell does work out and the Broncos save their money for a DE.

I want to see Dinger get the passing attack wide open. Lelie has stepped up but we need more guys to keep the defense busy. We need to mix things up and have Terrell, Adams, and Devoe (2nd year) pushing to that next level. We've got the guys we just have to keep it up.

Wow. That's a great compliment to Shanny and Rod. Especially after going through New England without success. I would love to see Terrell move into that posession receiver slot. He's got the tools. Does he have the drive?

I like Jake and I think he's fine for what we've been doing here in Denver for the past few years... but opening it up with Jake at the helm??? I just don't think that makes a lot of sense. At the very least though, we'll likely see the Shotgun once again, which I do like. I'm just not sure I like the idea of Jake airing it out. It's not a match made in heaven if you know what I mean.

You forgot to add Watts to that list. Call me crazy, but I think he's a player still. If anybody can get him 'right' it will be Dinger. Darius has more talent than Rod or Ash IMO. He has the ability to be a Marvin Harrison type player. He can get open all day and can make things happen after the catch... we just have to get that catching thing down! I'm dead serious when I say he's our future. I like our corps right now, but I still wouldn't shy away from Terrell Owens. Chemistry is vastly overrated. Look at the Pats for proof positive. WINNING IS CHEMISTRY!!! Winning made Donovan and TO hug. I'm not defending TO here, but to think that he'll be a cancer is flat out wrong. Unless we're losing 10 games a season (insert Oakland/Moss joke here) he won't be a problem!

Well at least this is the 1st year in a long time he hasn't broke out into a full blone Flava Clown. Maybe this has been good for him.

If it was a physical problem with his hands he would never catch anything. It's a focus problem with him. I'm sure you saw the two nice catches he had in the final preseason game this year. Most expected it was enough to bump him back into the #3 role. It's purely a head thing with Darrius. It's not like his hand acts up at certain times and he can catch one minute and then the next. It's something he's adjusted to. I'll be crazy and keep on believing in him b/c dude has the skills to be great. Not Good... GREAT!

I want to see his picture in your avatar during the off season. I want you to adopt this guy before June.
Prove it.
Edit: I would love to see Watts do something but I'm not getting hyped about this guy until somebody sees him in training camp doing something.... anything! How do you draft a guy in the second round that isn't any better than a half dozen UDFA guys? If he wasn't a top round pick he'd be using his good hand for sorting carts at Wal-Mart with Madise.

i wish that was true...but it's not, he has limited feeling in that hand. If the ball comes at him at an angle that forces him to use the parts of his hand that are limited then he will have trouble with it. It's not an electric circuit where it is on or off. There will be types of passes he can handle and types he can't

See above... by the way i also saw the 7 drops, and the fact that he was deactivated for most of the season (that's one long ass mental lapse)

Keep the faith! Just don't put alot of stock in it.
As for David Terell... god i hope this is for real. With his talent (like 2 working hands ;)) if he truly commits himself this could be an excellent find for the broncos.

TO or DT?
I think DT will make Camp & will win his spot there.
TO is another matter, & should be a worth the price of a Bronco ticket if Shanny pulls the Trigger on that one!

I love stories like this. Even if he never cracks the fifth receiver spot, It's good hear stories about players that get their confidence back and feel they can contribute. Hopefully he'll start living up to his potential this time around.

Yes, but take a whole season to learn a playbook? I know our system is a tough one to crack, but he didnt see any playing time whatsoever. It would be a different story if he came in and caught a few balls to ease my confidence.

David could be a real solid threat for us.
Him following Rod is sweet, and to add Dinger to that could be lethal. Remember Dinger was the one here who taught Rod. Course Rod had the patience and drive to learn since he came from, the bottom. But if Terrell has that kind of drive it could be a very fun season!!!

One more bump... I'll keep supporting Darrius. He's got an incredibly high ceiling! I'm a defense type of guy, but I'll gladly make Watts my adopted Bronco.

Broncos need offense to produce in the worst way. Their defense is a stop gap measure. I'm optimistic they will start they season off well but they are going to be game planned before the middle of the season if the DL doesn't do a miracle. I'll take Dumerville on a flyer before Watts. Press be damned.

I agree. Last year third down was a problem for this offense and we had to really limit the number of times we went pass there because we couldn't even field a 3 WR set, or a two TE set effectively.
Having the ability to field a solid 3 WR set, or 2 WR, 2 TE set etc really causes a lot of headaches for defenses because there are more matchups you can exploit.
I like what I'm hearing out about Schef since he can split out wide, go in motion, and line up as H-Back. That gives us versatility. But this year I expect our passing offense to be more effective because with David Terrell and Marshall we'll be able to go 3 WR set without being laughed at because they are big WRs.

If none of these WR's (Hixon-Marshall-Watts-Devoe-Adams) pans out, I hope Bowlen Bans Shanahan from ever drafting a WR in any round of the draft again.

With the potential in Terrell, Watts, and Marshall I could really care less about Lelie at this point. It would be nice to have him if he had his head on straight, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Overall i'm very excited about the crop of guys we have at WR.

Rod is awsome. Im glad players (wr's) on our team learn from Rod and work out with him in the offseason. He is the best person to learn from about anything the NFL has to offer and how to handle certain situations. To bad it didn't rub off on Lelie. Anyway, Im glad to see Terrell loves it here and is working hard and learning. We have a lot of depth in our wr core, and it's going to be a good battle in tc and preseason to see who gets that third spot.

That's what I don't understand. We weren't aware of Watt's problem when he came out of college. The scouts even claimed that his hands were one of his strengths. He caught a lot of high velocity bullets from Leftwich in college with the same hands.

His hand injury was before college if I am not mistaken. He caught a lot of passes with his "damaged" hand in college. I believe he was at the top on his division.
His problem is in his head, not a physical one. He can and will correct this.

I'm very high on Schef. I hope it's not because it's all we've picked up. I don't care which WR steps up I don't see any Pro Bowl WR coming out of the Broncos organization this season. It's kind of like a Final Destination movie. Wide Recievers come to Denver to END their careers not create them. Anyone stepping up this season isn't from optimism but some miracle of coaching.

It's pretty bad when drafting a CB and converting him to a WR makes sense.
