I think after this last year he needs to. It's hard watching someone decline like that.

Speaking of.....how many wins is Brett away?

...glad this past season didn't do much for his cause.

Total agreement i have been worried about that happening to John the same way it happened to Sweetness, I just saw the interview on NFL Live and it sounds like he is a broken man, kinda sad to see, I was not old by anymeans when he started his career but it is kinda a end of an era for me, all my heros are gone and the other "stars" I used to look up to as a kid are gone. Elway, Montana, Rice, Marino, Taylor, Payton, Singletary etc...I still love the game but it is hard for me to look up to a guy who is younger than me and admire him as much as those guys.

Favre probably has a couple more good seasons in him. But, he's being asked to do too much at this stage of his career. Elway won his SBs with a top notch running game and a stout D. (Surprise, huh?)
Favre could EASILY step onto a team like Pittsburgh and win a couple of championships. Are you kidding me? That's a no-brainer.

I don't know about "step onto a good team".. it takes even the great ones time to digest a new offense - new terminology, get timing down with the receivers, etc.. Time is not on Favre's side.

That's the beauty of what happened to Duke - those blessings came to his team in the twilight of his career - much more dificult for the QB to move to a new team, new system, new city and make it all work the first year.

He better retire. I'll be furious if he steals that all time wins record from the Duke by coming back and winning about 9 games.

He could always play for Arizona like Emmitt Smith did.

Not many can go out like the Duke. I can't find it, but him holding the Lombardi and the SB MVP trophy in each fist was priceless.

Living in a 4-12 graveyard under a rookie coach isn't paradise.

Think of all the Great QB's that wimpered out of the league...Marino, Namath, even Montana.

I don't think Favre wants to move, he's battled his wifes breast cancer from afar(I think), the team's prospects don't seem too upside. He's had to rescue his family in the swamps after Katrina. It all takes its toll. He's made alot of money, and he's probably due 10 million this year. I don't care how bad things are...he's an Icon and 10 million is 10 million.
