The National Football League is considering putting some of its out-of-market games live on the Internet next year, according to a person familiar with the league's intentions. Video will become a bigger part of the league's Internet effort, said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because discussions are still underway. The NFL may place an additional camera at games to be used exclusively for streaming the action onto the Internet, the source said.

That would be awesome because I live in SW Kansas and have to endure some of the Chiefs' games scheduled at the same time as "away" Broncos' games.

The NFL partnered with IBM 5 years ago to build a complete database of all TV broadcasts available from date of the AFL-NFL merger, as well as all of the NFL Films library.

The output of the NFL Films product is starting to be seen on various websites, but the TV broadcasts have not been touched as of yet.

Both MLB.com and NBA.com show complete TV broadcasts of classic games on their websites. The NFL needs to follow suit.

As far as live games on the internet, it sounds cool, but unless you cannot afford, or can't receive a Satellite signal, I will never undertand why someone would want to watch a new game on their computer.

Because it's the only way you can watch the game.

How about going to your local bar and watching the games? I do that before I got DirectTV.

It's hard to do that when you live in Kansas and they're showing Chiefs' games or don't have access to the Broncos' games.

Pretty soon, everything audio and video will be controlled through computers. I already have all my audio for every room run through my PCs. Only a matter of time before video will be streaming on Plasmas, DLP, etc...

Because most Video cards now have TV out and you can plug your Comp right into your TV. Some people dont like Satellite for good reason, bad weather means no TV.
