Since we're in offseason mode, I figure we can have the game thread for the top college all-star game here on the main board.

Could be a future Bronco or two playing today.

I'm most interested in watching Tamba Hali & Eric Winston. Either one looks like they'd be a nice addition if they're there at 22.

Sucks that Kiwanuka pulled out with an injury.

I caught some of the reruns of the weeks practices last night on NFL Network. D'Brickashaw Ferguson is a friggin' monster. Every time I saw him he dominated the guy in front of him. Whoever gets him is gonna make their QB very happy for a long time.

DeAngelo Williams sets NCAA rushing record (http://gotigersgo.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/122605aaa.html).

DETROIT (AP) - DeAngelo Williams lived up to the hype.

Williams set an NCAA record with his 34th 100-yard rushing game and scored three touchdowns, leading Memphis to a 38-31 victory over Akron in the Motor City Bowl on Monday.

Williams ran for 238 yards on 31 carries and finished his career with 6,026 yards rushing - trailing only Ron Dayne, Ricky Williams and Tony Dorsett in Division I-A history - and an NCAA-record 7,573 all-purpose yards.

"I'm really not a statistical guy, but when you mention those guys, it's huge," Williams said.

I think Omar Jacobs is vastly overrated. I have had a chance to see him many times as I live 30 minutes from Bowling Green.

He tends to lock into his receivers. Not enamored his mechanics at all (delivery, footwork)....and now you can add durabilty as a question mark as well.

There are reasons the NFL advisory council told him he would be a 4th rounder...probably the same ones I just listed.

He is a product of the system....Josh Harris put up good numbers before him and he is out of the league the last I checked. Alex Smith is a product of the same system as well.

This would be a nice haul if we could pull it off

1A. Tamba Hali, DE Penn State- Good, solid all around DE, still a little raw and doesnt do one particular thing extremely well, but solid in general.
1B. Laurence Maroney, HB Minnesota- Very good runner, threat to take it the distance, well schooled in the zone running game.
2. Jesse Mahelona, DT Tennessee- Just what we need a penetrating DT who plays with a low pad level and gets in the backfield.
3A. Martin Nance WR Miami (Ohio)- Tall, thick possession target. Very physical. Did not have a great week in Mobile, so he has a decent chance to be there at this point.
*3B. Mark Setterstrom OG Minnesota- Textbook Broncos lineman, coming out of Minnesota's similar system. Very good technique wise, although, like many of our OL, he got overpowered by the powerful DTs this week in Mobile. Good fit, all in all and will be at this point since he fell a little in Mobile.
4A. Bruce Gradkowski QB Toledo- Denver scouts talked to him in the Shrine (or was it Hula?) practices. Mobile and smart. In the weeklong practices at that bowl game he also showed very good accuracy.
4B. Greg Threat SS Miami (Fla.)- Very under the radar strong safety prospect. He is very smart and a good tackler. Played very little as a senior for mysterious reasons, although the rise of Kenny Phillips and the development of Brandon Merriweather played a role. Threat had a very nice 2004 season.

hagan's had a rough week, but if he slips to the 3rd round he's gonna end up making some gm look like a genius.

Plus, if you use an advanced method of calculating his overall career and senior bowl performance he scores a 9.77[out of 10] on the LLH{lidderer loves hagan} scale. To put that into perspective: no other player has ever registerd more than a 0.0.

in hagan's defense, the senior bowl hasn't really been all that indicative of future success.

from what i can recall, Plummer was pretty ineffective in his senior bowl performance outside of a late td toss.

who was that guy that wasn't even like a top 3 round projection but then he had a great senior bowl and combine and suddenly went top 10 to the vikes? I wanna say dewayne washington or something like that. Anyhow, the point is: mathias and derek will be financially affected by their performances, but that'll all get cleared up after their 3rd or 4th years.

edit: dewayne washington, went to the jets at #4. Also: sucks.

You mean Dewayne Robertson, the DT from Kentucky?

i think so. Maybe I'm totally wrong.

I have an idea: if i'm totally wrong, just don't post anything, but if I'm right say something like "ya, exactly".

I know what you mean though, there will always be "workout warriors" who get oohs and aahs because of their 40 times or bench presses but can't play a lick on the football field. Mike Mamula and more recently Kyle Boller are pretty good examples. Hell, Fabian Washington was considered a 2nd rounder at best until he ran (allegedly) a 4.29 40 yard dash at the combine and vaulted into round 1.

The only question is who gets to play the role of Chris Mullin and grossly overpay him.

for those young posters looking to understand how the above joke works, remember this formula:

1. [thing]
2. [another thing]
3. dikembe mutombo

Seriously, it's foolproof.

I used to use the same formula substituting Yinka Dare for Mutombo. I've backed off of that one since Dare passed away, but man, he was an easy target.

Well let's just try it out again, completly random stuff here. We'll even let celebrity judge Chad Hutchinson decide if the formula works.

DeAngelo Williams has the NCAA record for most 100 yard games, I believe. Emmitt Smith was the same height.

DeAngelo Williams first grabbed my attention in high school when he almost picked Arkansas. They were comparing him to Barry Sanders during the Motor City Bowl. I think he is the best of all the "Next Barry Sanders" that have come and gone, even though he isn't the next Barry Sanders. His offensive production is second to none, but nobody is talking about his character.

DeAngelo Williams is the first winner of the ARA Sportsmanship Award
Given to the Division I college football player who exemplifies sportsmanship both on and off the football field. The athlete must be a starting player or significant contributor on his team, demonstrate great respect for competitors, school, teammates and coaches, show an ability to accept victory and defeat graciously, convey a high degree of humility and integrity, and demonstrate commitment in the classroom and to the community.

It's okay to rip a guy's helmet off and toss him to the ground so long as you offer a hand to help him back up. That's sportsmanship. Also, you don't even have to bend over when holding out the helping hand.

Glad to help. :)

I'm most interested in watching Tamba Hali & Eric Winston. Either one looks like they'd be a nice addition if they're there at 22.

Sucks that Kiwanuka pulled out with an injury.

Tamba Hali would look real good in orange and blue:strong:

Yes he would. But with his perfromance today, he may have elevated his stock out of the Broncos range. The upside to that is that Kiwanuka may fall far enough to be had at 22.

The combine is yet to come, so things can still change fairly dramatically.

I prefer Lawson and Wimbley. Kiwi just has not been impressive all year (even though hurt), then he got owned this week, and then hurt again. He seems to lack a killer instinct too. I would be very leery of him.

* Projected compensatory.

I would take that, but I think Broncs could get a real steal on the OL that might be better than Setterstom. Not knocking him, but would rather have Giles, Degory, Joseph if one of them went into free fall. I would also add another OL in place of your homer 4th round pick. :)

Rep for calling SoCal a homer.

I'm beginning to not give a shiite about Santorice Moss's height. He runs crisp routes, he flies down the field, he's got great bloodlines and he catches the damn ball. What's not to like?

agreed...in fact i saw a mock draft with the Broncs taking him. That double move was awesome.

I heard that Setterstrom is REALLY slow. not so enticing.
