View Full Version : Welcome to "Off Season Mode."

Every year, since June of 2001, we've opened up the "Mane" board to off topics. We started doing it because by that time, we were about the rip eachothers throats out rehashing the same Broncos topics over and over again and things got dry and redundant. It's worked pretty well to keep people into the forum over the season and give people a look at the personalities on the board away from the football talk...
The off topic forum will remain open. And during big Broncos events where things are flying fast and furious with the Broncos news, we'll move threads to the offtopics in order to keep things relevant. But during Broncos down time, the main forum will be available for off topics.
Please keep the poitics threads cultural, instead of political. That's to say if you want to post a story about some whackos wanting to add a "piercing" tax to body peircing shops (for instance), that's ok. If you want to post a thread about George Bush looking like a monkey and how much you think he's a dope, take it to the Politics forum. Preferably, the only straight up politics threads are for breaking events of national importance (ie. the state of the union), and not just some minor thing (on the grand scale) like court nominations, or new polling numbers.
I think that about covers it... Play ball...

Oh yeah... And 3 off topic posts per day per person... Preferably only 2, but if that third one is a doozy... That way nobody is crowding up the forum.

So our President is a primitive primate...he's still kicking the terrorists asses! He's just using higher primate technology effectively. Kinda like a kid with too many toys...he likes to play...cruise missles...GPS bombs...B-52's...F-117's...GI Joes and Janes having sex...he's got lots of toys in his box. Dubya seems like the kind that would strip down GI Joe and GI Jane to their underwear and try to make them perform an unnatural act...I blame Babs, his perverted mother. She should of kept the underwear drawer locked.

New threads, post replies about off topic **** all you want, just limit actual new threads to 2 or 3.

It's not even "Off season" technically...and the board is looking "messy"...My vote is to keep them separate all year.

I've always contended that off topic threads should remain in the Off Topics forum.
With football season over, the main board should be expanded to include other sports. Most of us follow hockey and/or basketball and/or baseball, and that will fill the dead space.
This way we don't get stupid, self indulgent bull**** on the front page that makes the place look as gay as Chiefs Planet.

That is a pretty good idea, actually. Can we move the general hockey thread from the other sports forum or do the mods disagree?

No doubt... I've found myself scrolling right on past more than half of the threads on the main board since the change. :(

Funny, I scroll past most of the Bronco stuff now.
Season's over and the next one isn't for so long that talking about it now will just make it go longer.
All you have to do is look at the insane Mock post about Tiger, to know that offseason mode sucks.
Their is plenty of NFL info out their, not just Bronco info, to support the maine forum. The only real down time is from Feb to March. Even then there are topics going on.
Hell! If you want an offseason mode make it a all sports threads. Nuggs, Avs, Crush.
But for god sake kill the stupid threads.

As for you, ColtSteel, if CP is so "superior" to OM, why are you here bugging us? Judging from your two posts on this thread, I'm thinking the Mullets are more your speed anyway...::)

Hello guys. Is there a place where I can find the AFC vs NFC record for this season? I looked at nfl.com and didn't find much.

I kinda think this was a bad request to make. Not only does it invite Hockey hating clods to spew their crap on the thread, but an ongoing effort is going to have to be made to keep it on page 1 of the main forum, whereas it was always on page 1 in the other sports forum.....it'll get lost in the back pages in the main forum.
