I'm sure you heard it through the grapevine (it was that bad)...the roads froze over in North Texas from Abilene through somewhere around Tyler in early December. I was traveling to visit my parents in Fort Worth and got stuck in the ice. The roads were solid ice. I knew that I was in trouble when I got outside of Ranger and saw 4 18 wheelers crashed on and around an overpass on I-20. One of which was hanging off of the bridge and another was ramped up an incline to the service road at a near 90 degree angle and the cab was sticking up in the air above the crest of the incline!

Anyway, trucks, cars and rigs were littered all over the highway from that point on and the road eventually became undriveable as the night came on. I pressed on in my truck until I sild off of the road for the 7th time. At every point, people came by and stopped and either towed me out or asked if they could help.

Texans are good people

(By the way...it took me 9 1/2 hours to make an hour and a half-long trip).

They have an unusual number of morons, but they are real. It's the same in Iowa, Kansas, even Okies will lend a hand. Jesus, when I was in Miami/Orlando I couldn't believe those NY assholes...

Iowans are pretty smart Germans and such...some Irish...but we all kinda look after each other...you have a car problem, the first car you see will stop...we kinda still trust each other to a certain extent. Hitchhiking isn't looked apon to favorably, but if you have car trouble your not going to wait long for assistance. I'm not pumping up Texas or Iowa, it's called doing the right thing dammit. Those freaks in Cali, you could be bleeding on the sidewalk and they will walk right past you, yet they act like liberal pricks that are so concerned about world politics when they have been force fed bullshiat their whole lives.

Yes, in between Portland and Aransas Pass on the Bay about 15 miles south of Rockport where I'm at. Lots of Navy people in the Ingleside area. Mustang Island is only a few minutes away from you Spider (have to ferry to get over there). I fish the jetties regulary over there and up down the Gulf both directions.

If you're going to be around for awhile in the AM let me know Spider , I'll head down there and say hey.
