What is your guys take on him? There are some people here who feel all his atletisicism was lost due to injuries, and some (like me) feel that he will regain alot of that athletic ability.
He played in 14 games this year, made 24 tackles, 2 sacks and recovered 2 fumbles. Not all that impressive, but he finally made it through a season without any serious injuries and he came back fairly well from the elbow injury in training camp.
I doubt he'll ever be the elite player he should have been coming out of college, but I feel he'll at least become a solid player.
So what are your guys take on him? Any insider info (Wabbit...?) about what the Broncos plan on doing with him?

He's a role player. Hopefully he embraces that and takes a paycheck that reflects it. If not, so yah.

I'd like to know what everyone thinks of his play on the field and what his future play will be like...but right now I'm not too worried about his contract status, that's a whole other thread.

I think C. Brown is a servicable defensive end, I think his injuries have really sapped some of his athleticism and I dont see him paying off w/ huge dividends.
I see him more as a backup than a starter, but thats just me.

That's what I think about his play. That's how Denver utilized him. Less was expected of him and he played less snaps. It's doubtful that it was just coincidence that he managed to stay healthy.
So yeah I want to keep him as a role player if he chooses to embrace it.

I think he's geed enough for the rotation, but not the 'final solution' that we had hoped he might blossom into.

I thought he played a lot better as the year went on. He was great as a roleplayer, a beast against the run but not a great pass rusher. I would love to keep him on a lower dollar contract. I don't see Trevor sticking around unless he takes a huge cut so I think the ideal plan would be to draft or sign a speed rusher and have C. Brown bookend the line so we can stuff the run and still get a bit of a rush.

He isn't worth his projected salary for next year...and I don't see a need to rengotiate and create dead money with him eventually
I say cut him and maybe we can sign him back later

He's a run stuffer not the vaunted pass rusher he was described as in College. He's not going to turn into Strahan like everyone predicted he's just a solid DE that doesn't excel at any one area.

Could be wrong, but I think this contract was intended to be a 1 year deal, so restructuring it probably won't have an impact on dead money (multiple-tierd bonuses and such). Both Denver and C Brown knew that it was a 1 year trial and he'd have an opportunity to be a FA after this year. Of course if they agree that his role is here, then they can restructure and avoid FA.

If he takes a pay cut, he'll probably stay. If not, hasta la bagass...dman

I think we have great run stopping DE's and I think brown is a great run stopping DE. I think we should keep him if we can but he must take a paycut.

If we keep him we need to make sure and keep either Ekuban or Pryce (maybe both) as insurance because of his injury history.
I think if we can get one stud pass rusher it would help dramatically. Hopefully they can convince Pryce to go back inside and resign Warren and Ekuban. My dream D-line: Mario Williams (trade both first and Mrs Bowlen), Warren, Pryce, Brown/Ekuban.

Somewhere between Andre Wadsworth and Dwight Freeney lies Courtney Brown. He'll get better but may have been overrated coming out of college in the first place. Denver gave him a chance to get back into the rotation and i hope this fosters some loyalty in him but 'serviceable' is the perfect description of him right now. I'd like to see him back in Denver because he seemed to fit into the high rotation scheme we run.

While I don't believe he'll ever be a dominant player, I think he can be a 10-11 sack a year type player for us if he stays healthy and regains his speed and strength.

While I don't believe he'll ever be a dominant player, I think he can be a 10-11 sack a year type player for us if he stays healthy and regains his speed and strength. I think that is very optimistic. Several scout takes that I read this year suggest that he has never been a great pass-rushing DE and that his role would almost certainly be as a run-stopper at the NFL level. I suppose if we got a stud opposite him that his numbers could go higher as a result of less attention. Come to think of it, that's probably what Denver was hoping for this year with Pryce and Brown.

as long as he comes cheap, we should keep him
others are right, he is a run-stuffer, but we NEED SOME DAMN PASS RUSHING!!!!!!!!!

He is gone. I dont see a guy like him all of sudden gettting back to form. He was a monster when healthy, but its clear he has been hurt 1 to many times, i dont want that on my team.

wow 10-11 sacks that sounds pretty dominant, i don't think he will ever reach those lofty numbers, he is a solid NFL DE plays better against the rush, he is worth slightly over the league average IMO

The guy has been hurt so much that there was no way he was going to regain anything close to his full potential this year. He's been rehabbing so much that he hasn't really been able to participate in an offseason conditioning program. Having survived a season relatively unscathed it will be interesting to see how much he improves with a full offseason of conditioning and a full training camp. Right now, he's a serviceable role player but I would like to bring him back. We may be pleasantly surprised.

I think he should be moved to Pryce's side. Denver should draft a end in the first and a DT. This is what I was thinking about even though its pretty early. Keep Brown, Warren, EE, Myers. Daft Rod Wright or Brodrick Bunkley and either Kiwi or Hali. We could use some other FA's like maybe a Hovan or someother role players. Bosch is a guy I wouldn't mind picking up, but it depends on how other things go first.

I think we need some inspiration on the DL. I don't recall the Broncos successfully drafting anything that stuck in a long time. The FA acquisitions have always been role players. I think the Broncos need to look at the whole DL, the system they use to acquire players, and how they go to market. If Coyer can reinvent the DL one more time maybe he'll get it right this time. I don't know what the formula for success is but the problem is obvious.

Brown is a ghost of his former talent. On the cheap keep him. If not cut him and let the deadskins overpay for him. We need an infusion of youth and talent on the DL. I hope we don't have to talk about this issue every freaking year because it is getting old.
