O.K., now that the unfortunate events have passed who do I cheer for in the XL bowl? I like all of Seattle's players but I can't help but root for the Bus, and guys like Hines Ward and even Big Ben. Who are you cheering for in the Superbowl?

Seattle. I've never liked Pittsburgh and I never will. They are responsible for 2/3 of our home playoff losses all time. Seattle on the other hand hardly ever beat us even though we shared a division with them for years. Go Seattle!

Since I have literally no rooting interest at all, I'm gunna go Seattle because they're the underdogs. Personally I think the Steelers are going to kick the **** out of them, but I'm still pulling for the underdog.

Pittsburgh. The Seahawk bandwagon is truly disgusting. There will be lots of broken ankles up here when everyone jumps off after the game. I hope the Steelers drill 'em!

Steelers have won too many times in the past, and we don't need to hear how they compare to the Jack Lambert, Lynn Swan, Bradshank, etc days. Let's just vote for the Seahawks b/c they've never been there. It's funny, I want the Seahawks to win but my money in the sports book is on the Steelers.

Cowher is like the bizarro-world Marty.

Smashmouth, but not conservative.

Cowher plays against the offensive elite and shuts them down, instead of.....say.......having his defense vommit before running the punter on 4th and 3.

While some teams lose free agents year in and year out and slowly sink down into teh suck Cowher just says "play the rookie" and somehow that ****er turns into defensive ROTY.

If Cowher wins this game Dungy, Herm, and Marty will dial him up on conference call screaming "THANK YOU! YEAHHH! Because of you we'll have at least two or three teams who'll always believe in us!"

I got lots of respect for Cowher, although the Steelers were known for sticking with guys for the duration...he's lasted there through some shaky years. He and Shanny are the longest tenured guys in the NFL, and unless one of them decides on their own to leave I don't see that changing any time soon.

Actually this is how I feel.....I'm an AFC guy, unless it's the Raiders (don't have to ever worry about the Chiefs making it again) in there...then it's solely rooting for pool numbers to come up.

Same thing here, it's not that I'm bitter about Denver not being in it this year, it's really that I either dont like or dont give a **** about either team in this Super Bowl.

I'll watch but won't have much interest, do some channel surfing here and there, but really not into this at all.

Former AFC West over the franchise that just tied our record for most SB appearances by an AFC team ... plus, I'm still having nightmares from having to see so many "terrible towels" at Invesco ... that was PATHETIC.

I would love to root for the Steelers, but I'm not very happy with some of their local fans at the moment and I don't want to give them the satisfaction of rooting for their team. On the other hand, I live in the NW and I'm sick of hearing about Seattle! So, I think I'll go skiing that day...the slopes will be empty and I can have the mountain to myself! 181 inches of greatness!

I'm with Kaylore. Either will be fine. I'd like to see the Bus get his ring, I love Polamalu, and I'm kind of pulling for Big Ben. On the other hand, there are 4 former Broncos with Seattle our old AFC West foe although Rouen is the only big name guy.

* Except for Raiders/Chiefs, my third most enjoyable superbowl of all time was the Raiders being escorted out of the stadium by the Bucs.

Lets see...I live in the NW. I have hated the Hee Hawks since I moved here in 81, mainly cause of my desire for the Broncos to win, especially when they were in our division. The hawks have been mainly pathetic, so if they lose there will be lots of broken ankles as someone else said.

I would like to see Bettis get his ring...last year etc. On the other hand I really dislike Cowher and would love to see him lose in the bowl again.

Most of my friends and co-workers are hawk fans, some of them even loyal ones. Although I'm an AFC guy, I think I'll pull for the Hawks.

And if I were a betting guy {I'm not} I think I would lay money on the Hawks also. Reason...Pittsburgh didn't stop our running game. They aren't gonna stop Seattles either. And Holmgren won't abandon the run, and pull a Kubiak type game plan out his butt. Once he establishes the run I think Pitt will start sneaking up and then he'll let the PA hurt them. I honestly don't think Pitt has seen a run game like Seattles, and they are gonna get burned some. I think Seattles secondary can stop Pitts receivers, and their line can stop Pitts run.

Actually Seattle reminds me of the 97 Broncos. I think it will end up 27-20 or 24-17 Seattle.

This and a dollar will get you a cup of coffee { except at Starbucks}

Steelers all the way. That's really a phenomenal collection of players they've assembled and they are led by a deserving coach who needs this one. The more I reflect on what I saw last Sunday from the athletes on that team and the coaching staff that prepared them, the more respect I have.

No hard feelings at all. I hope they put a 55-10 kind of exclamation point on their season.

As I mentioned to some of the Steelers fans on the way out of the game, I'm an AFC guy unless the Raiders are playing. Cowher is overdue for a ring. I was hoping he wasn't getting one at our expense, though. However, what's done is done and go Steelers!

I was leaning towards Pittsburgh because I really like Cowher and the Bus, etc. Also I am so impressed with the frenetic pace of Joey Porter and Troy Polemalu.

But my nephew is a Seahawks fan so I was a bit torn.

Initially I was happy to note the AFC would be considered the home team and Seattle would thus be in their white uniforms, which are infinitely less offensive then their dark ones.

But yesterday the Steelers announced they will wear white due to this great road playoff streak they are in. As such the Seahawks will be in their "Blueish, Purpleish, Grayish, Faggish" solid color unitard, which is a disgrace to the human eyeball.

Go Steelers; pound their "blueish, purpleish, grayish, faggish" butts into the Puget Sound.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be rooting for the Steelers. You gotta like the 'Hawks as underdogs, having never been to the big dance, but you just gotta love what the Steelers did this year, winning seven in a row now. As tough as it is, I'll be cheering for the Steelers to win the Super Bowl.

And how can we possibly forget the lime green uniform striping?? Lime green on a football uni?? Kill em Cowher!!

Please do not roll out Steve Largent in a new version uni and parade him around Ford Field. If you're gonna parade Largent around, do it with the 1976-1983 uni Largent made famous. Those were some of the dopest duds in the league.

Great looking uniform on Largent.

Boogerboots
01-25-2006, 06:32 AM
Why does Largent have that look of impending doom on his face?

As for the SB XL matchup... both sides have points to cheer for. Seattle has never won a SB. Pitt hasn't won one in decades. Alexander is an MVP that is not brash or coc-ky. The bus is likely to go to the HoF but hasn't won a SB in his lengthy career.

So either way it wouldn't kill me if either team won. It's not like either side is loaded with a-holes like Oakland a few years back or B-more. And neither side has the whiny media cry-babies like Brady, Manning or ... Owens.

I will be rooting for (in this order) my squares to hit, good showings by Mass natives (and sons of Patriot alums) Hasselbeck and Tatupu, and against coach big jaw. Speaking of squares I will never forget playing $100 squares at a party for the TB/Oak super bowl . The game had seconds to go and they handed $5000 to the guy with the winning numbers ! Just then Tampa intercepted the ball and ran it back for the Td. to change the numbers as time was almost expiring. This guy was almost in tears as he handed back the money. I felt bad for the guy but it was very entertaining at the time.

Hello, Smalltown Girl and the Bronco faithful. First and foremost, not all Steeler fans are obnoxious rogues while remembering that Steeler Nation now encompasses much of country. Everybody these days seems to be on the Bettis/Roethlisberger bandwagon. As a born, bred and educated Pittsburgher, I can honestly say that I truly love most Steeler fans especially those in our armed forces (I'm a civilian assigned the navy, Camp Lejeune), yet like any other franchise there is always a certain element that one detests. Further, should divine grace deem Steeler Nation worthy of victory in Super Bowl 40, I assure you there will be no boasting or bragging from this source as the glory belongs solely to Providence, though I'm sure there will be others in their earthly ways who will take another path. **** I feel fortunate that we did not have to face what seemed a more physical Bronco team, which the country witnessed on Thnaksgiving Day. We probably would've lost. Enjoy the bowl, the Black 'n Gold

Everybody these days seems to be on the Roethlisberger/Bettis bandwagon. Nevertheless, I thought your team played well this season; impressive, and had they played as physical a game as they did against Dallas, you probably would've won......-----As for myself, I love Steeler fans, especially those serving in our armed forces (I'm presently a civilian assigned the navy, Camp Lejeune), whereas others, like some here feel, I simply detest. Further, should divine grace deem the Steelers worthy of victory in SB 40, there will be no boasting or bragging from this source, except in a kidding type way, though others will likely take a more earthly course, as the glory belongs to Providence. Being an AFC guy (except when it's the faiduhs) I'll be rooting for the Steelers.

On a side note...My brother stopped at the supermarket on his way over to my house for the game the other day. When he got here he asked me if I had ever seen anyone in this area ever wear a Seahawk cap and I said I don't think I have no. He said I kid you not there must of been 7 different guys wearing seahawk caps at the supermarket. I said that's too funny. Friggin' bandwagoners galore around here. And if the Steelers win the SB they'll all run to the mall and buy a Steelers cap and swear they've been Steeler fans forever. Well, until the iggles make it back to the big show and they dust off thier iggle caps and start singin' that stupid 'fly eagles fly' song. All eagle flags are down in my neighborhood and this one blow up eagle doll thing one guy had in his yard looks like he stabbed it to death and ripped it to pieces. Iggle fans, fairweather bandwagoning retards. :)
