Yes folks we are only 5 hours into JacK Bauers 24 day and already (by my count) he has rubbed out 6 people. To recap it was 3 at the refinery (including the sniper who killed President Palmer), 2 at the airport (one with his cell phone and 1 when Curtis and the team broke through the wall) and the assasin last night. That's more than 1 per hour for "the Man" on the best show on tv (now that our teams are out of it.). Any other 24 junkies agree with my count (did I miss someone ?) and any thoughts or predictions on upcoming shows, where is the nerve gas headed ect...

i think it was more than 3 at the refinery, but im not sure how many were in the car he blew up. he slit one guy´s throat in the smoke, the sniper and the guy(s) in the car ...

i think, but im not sure, one guy yesterday said "turn moscow into a graveyard", so i guess moscow is a pretty good bet. all the moles inside ctu are getting a bit tiresome although spencer technically wasnt a mole, but was set up. still a nice job by chloe to burst his bubble. samweis gamgee is the coolest ctu boss ever. finally someone who doesnt question jack all the time and just lets him do his thing. it was a transition episode, but next week should be fun. cummins is going down! but who is cummins working for and what is his true intention? logan is very annoying, btw. i just wonder what´s gonna happen when the chinese find out that jack is still alive.

if dennis haybert legally changed his name to david palmer and ran for president in 2008, would you vote for him?

the people transporting the nerve gas obviously think it's going to Moscow, but obviously, that ain't gonna happen

My assumption is, it's headed for LA's air again, seems most of the terroists attack LA

I absolutely would vote for him for President, Why not with all the other actors who went into politics. I too am waiting for the Chinese response when they find out he is alive. I like the fact they showed Chloe being a naughty girl this year. I am awaiting for Tony to wake up from his operation and immediately head out into the field with Jack.

chloe is badass. looks like she´s always half asleep, but it was awesome when she shot that guy in season 4 and she knows a thing or two about computers. kim is apparently coming back for a few episodes later this season, btw.

i ordered season 3 on dvd today ... i gave up watching after 2 or 3 episodes when it was on tv as it seemed a bit tedious and kim, arguably the most idiotic character in any tv show ever, working at ctu was a bit too much to take. i know many people are saying it was the worst of all seasons. i watched the first 2 seasons on dvd and season 4 is when i really caught the bug.

shes nice to look at, sure, but how often did she get kidnapped in seasons 1 and 2? how many people did she lead into disability? god, shes stupid ... i guess no kim probably was one of the reasons why i loved season 4. ok, marwan escaping a million times was a bit annoying ... overall i still liked season 4 best.

they never confirmed he died ... they only said he was seriously injured and unable to do his job after the crash. apart from that, i guess the white house wouldnt really like the idea of a us president getting killed in a tv show. the producers did get the go ahead from the white house or secret service for the crash of air force one, under the condition that they wouldnt actually show how it went down exactly.

I was pulling for the cougar, but come on, you know we would have missed her running in the show. She'll be back, be annoying, jiggle around, and then move on. I do find it interesting that this season has the male version of Kim on it.

Game my best friend and I invented. You watch one of the movies and drink every time they do something stupid (quack, ridiculous hockey play, Charlie bitches at the coach, etc. etc.). I ended up having to drink 6 rum & coke's in a 10 minute span because of that.

I missed the last two shows, the last one I saw had Jack hiding out in the rafters and his girlfriends kid captured while some terrorists had a bomb at a airport/bus staton? Could someone give me a quick rundown?

Jens1893
01-25-2006, 02:54 AM
from wikipedia

10:00AM-11:00AM

The terrorists use the threat of executing Derek to force Jack to convey false information to CTU so that terrorists will be able to ambush the assault team upon entry. Jack tries to covertly warn CTU during his call, but the warning is only caught thanks to an abrasive new CTU chief, Lynn McGill (who had arrived and put himself in charge).

The assault is successfully re-coordinated, subduing the terrorists just as the treaty is signed, salvaging the political situation, but not before the terrorists hand off a key card to Ivan Erwich, a sleeper agent amongst the hostages. This key card was apparently held by Chevensky. Erwich escapes during the chaos and meets with more terrorists; the key card is used to break into a mysterious bunker containing biohazard canisters in one of the airport's storage areas.

Martha Logan manages to track down an accurate written transcript of her fateful phone conversation with former President Palmer, but Walt Cummings assaults her from behind, knocks her unconscious with chloroform, and takes the transcript before she can show the transcript to her husband.
[edit]

11:00AM-12:00PM

The second group of terrorists are revealed to also be Central Asian nationalists and are planning to use the nerve gas canisters in an attack on Moscow, and proceed to move the canisters into a fake S.W.A.T van and exit the secure perimeter; Nathanson tells Walt Cummings that Jack is a problem and must be eliminated. Walt assures him that he has a man on the inside that will handle it.

Meanwhile, using surveillance video, CTU is able to track Erwich (the sleeper agent with the yellow tie) to the abandoned warehouse and a forensics team determines that the area shows minute concentrations of military-grade nerve gas, evidence that it had once been stored there-- how the nerve gas got there is a mystery.

Diane Huxley is brought into CTU for debriefing, along with her son Derek; Audrey, Jack's former lover, questions her and Diane reveals there was no romantic involvement between herself and Jack, not that she would have minded. Martha Logan, meanwhile, escapes through her bathroom window upon realizing that without the evidence to back up her 'delusional' phone call from Palmer the President has been convinced to commit her to an asylum.

Chloe at CTU notices Spencer Wolff accessing unauthorized files beyond his security clearance and reports him to Buchanan. When Spencer is questioned and shown that the technician he let into CTU on orders from Cummings was in fact a professional assassin who attacked Jack and killed a CTU physician, he reveals that he believed he was part of an internal affairs investigation into CTU under the authority of the White House -- placed there by Walt Cummings. Wolff's admission is compelling, but leaves CTU without clear evidence of Cummings' culpability. Jack, however, decides to go after him.

jack finished the guy by putting some scissors in his neck.

I'm a little behind because I had to TIVO and watch it later. Not a real eventful episode, but it was all worth it when Jack put Cummings in his place. He was getting way too cocky, abusing the pussy-boy prez. What would the world do without Jack Bauer?

The 2 security guards off the Elevator. The 15 yr old russian girl shooting her Captor/the chip maker seemed like a flashback to when the Araz boy shot his dad last year. Did that metal shop guy really think he was going to be let go by Erwich ? Chloe tooled Spenser when she dragged him out then sent him back after he had done the work. She's the best. It even brought a smile to Edgar. I guess no recurring role for Cummings.

Good point on the Chinese as well. Can that whole angle just be brushed aside? Actually, with this show I guess it can, and I'm willing every week to buy whatever they're selling. For example, being able to drive from downtown LA to Ontario airport in 10 minutes. Hilarious!

I watched it last night, first time in a while and I saw some pretty serious flaws in their logic of the story.

They decided to release the gas so that Jack could stay with them and lead them to the other gas...right...anyway...after the whole thing went down they were still able to track the guy with the signal thing. HELLO!!!! You didn't need Jack to stay with them if you could track him like that, and you never show up at the front freaking door before you bust in.

Seems like they are trying to make Jack to much of a hero and consequently not having a logical sequence of events.

the two terrorists grabbed jack and forced him to go with them. If CTU would have intervened they would have had to detain both terrorists to negotiate them, THUS taking the remote detonator and the terrorists out of the loop.

Why does Chloe always look like she has to take a dump all the time? I'm sleepy.

Suspending believeability is a requirement of the watching the show. Otherwise you'll drive yourself crazy.

When Jack stopped and gave medical attention to the 7 year old girl and saved her, I was also thinking that they are going to extra hero lengths. He goes from dismantling a nuclear bomb to killing a guy with his bare hands, then performing open-heart surgery in a corn field, using only a corn cob, and then has time to have emotional conversations with his woman in between. But I still watch and still love it. He is JACK BAUER after all! :notworthy

I am glad McGill was relieved, his paronoia was starting to get annoying. Couple of questions.......Is the first lady having an affair with that secret service guy? Did the guy who's wife got killed (sorry, can't really recall names here) in the explosion die from the nerve gas, or is he now in the room with that other guy they were questioning?

WOW i wish I had been watching this show from the beginning. Seriously cool stuff. Jack's a pretty smart guy....that whole part when he was down in the stairwell with the terrorist who had the walkie talkie......

Wouldn't it be crappy if his daughter ends up dying next week? They said somebody has to die, and I really hope he and his daughter have a reconciliation before one of them gets the axe.....

I think he must have been spreading the love around...The show is about Jack. I think it would die without him, I like to see some stability to the CTU, it gets confusing sometimes trying to remember who someone is when they have such a high turnover rate, I know the show has spanned what 4 presidents? They just wiped out CTU, we have lost Michelle, Jack's wife, Chase, Paula, Edgar, Chase (i guess, don't know why he would dump Kim?) The former 3 CTU directors (the one that rode the nuke down, the mean girl that forced Jack out, Michelle and Tony both ran it at one time.) Two dead presidents. I know the shocking death thing draws in viewers and is sometimes good for the story but the only constant in the show has been Jack and great cell phone service...I don't think I would be on board to long if Jack bites the bullet. I like him better than Curtis.

I think it's both, isn't it? Also, am I the only one that thinks that Rudy is going to be the one to sacrifice his life to make up for the ID card screw up?

I think that because everyone is dying is exactly why Jack won't be killed off this year. I think he has one more season in him, then he's gone (possibly in a "24" movie?) and a new group takes over. Jack carries the show, but it would always have a chance just because of the "real time" element going on.

Finally, my best friend and I were wondering this last night....how many "silent clocks" has "24" had? I know they did at the end of season 2 (Palmer almost killed) and I would imagine they did in the episode where Air Force 1 was shot down, but are there any others?

I love Wikipedia

Chappelle's death was honored by a silent clock at the end of the episode. He is the third character to be honored in this fashion (the first two being following Teri Bauer's death on Day 1 and George Mason's departure from CTU on Day 2, and Edgar Stiles' death on Day 5. What is widely believed to be a silent clock after Mandy's attack on President Palmer at the end of Day 2, was in fact an amplification of Palmer's heavy breathing, leaving his fate unknown until the following season).

I think they are setting it up to be that the terrorists contacted her while they were planning this day. They set it up for her to get her brother to meet her somewhere and steal his wallet kind of thing.

Decent episode tonight, do you guys think the Secert Service guy is the one that ordered Wayne Palmer to be taken down? I really wish Tony wasn't dead, now another one of Jack's chicks is a traitor? are they already repeating plots in only the 5th year? I bet that German guy is going to burn Jack somehow. If none of you have bought 24 the Game I suggest you do so, it is really great, I just finished it tonite before the show, It was strange hearing the voices of actors who have "died" on the show. The game bridges the gap between season 2-3 in fact it is about a year after season 2. It is written by the writers of the show so I guess it is "offical" you see Kim on her first day at CTU, Chase meets Jack for the first time, Chloe working at a DC field office with Chase, Max the guy who funded all the trouble in season 2, Nina and even the little hottie that tried to kill Palmer, and later Tony.

It looks from the previews that Wayne Palmer's hit was tied into Henderson. Is that Collette Stenger chick hot or what ? She is my new favorite "hot" 24 chick. I can't beleive that Audrey is corrupt. German guy is definitely sticking around. He probably is going to get killed by a scorned Collette.

Good show but I really need a two hour episode soon. You get dragged in and then you have to wait another week. The 2 hour episodes makes it more of an experience. It is good for Jack that Audrey is innocent but it has to hurt that she hooked up with Cummins ..ouch ! The whole harressment thing with the guy from homeland and the girl repalcing Edgar is lame. Where are they going with it ? Henderson really hates Jack as it seems a lot of what he set up was earmarked just for Jack. Good action scene at the gas plant. Very entertaining. Where is Henderson and what does Wayne Palmer have ? I guess we'll have to wait another week.

The terrorists are awfully prepared to release the gas in the US, considering their actual target was going to be Moscow. Why were they buying information/schematics for LA area natural gas facilities when that wasn't their target? Oh yeah, it's just a TV show.

The "bad" girls they get on this show are always quite fine, I must say. (that sounded Ed Grimley-esque)

Jens and I were just kidding around about the Chunnel thing. Here's the recap. Chloe is working out of Buchanans house helping Jack but they are closing in to catch her but she was tipped off by the Homeland chick who is having doubts about Logan. Jack caught Henderson and left Audrey to watch him while he went to the airport to find the tape since it was handed off to an unknown who got on a plane . The tape was not destroyed by Henderson since he felt it was his insurance. He was right Logan was going to kill him. There is a new "bad guys " headquarters operated by the guys working with Logan. It was revealed Cummins was killed and didn't commit suicide. Agent Pierce is dead. Jack Snuck onto the Plane which has ambassadors on it with at least one of them British. Audrey almost shot Henderson since her dad drove off a cliff so Jack wouldn't let Henderson go.( he was going to be killed by a sniper in a Helicopter if Henderson didn't call in every 15 minutes) Heller felt if he committed suicide it would allow Jack to not let Henderson go. It is possible that Heller jumped out of car at last minute. That should be enough to keep you up to speed.

Maybe they can find that cougar and stick it in the First Lady's bedroom! The best part of the show besides the drunk getting a stun gun up the poop chute twice was Jack throwing that elbow into the Air Marshall...that was tight. Logan will come up with some BS to bring it down, I think Noveck will have to step up soon, he tried to help bring down Palmer when a group of them didn't agree with his decisions...Logan is wiping out 100 times worse. Has it been confirmed about the SS agent that helped Wayne Palmer out is dead? The last I saw he was supposed to meet the Prez's wife at some stables and she found his cell phone. I've always been able to overlook the implausible things that happen, but this whole thing with the tape is really annoying. No copy made, no special security surrounding it, just sitting there alone in a room with Chloe, etc.
