I personally think it's not time to give on Jake. After all the broncos are averaging 11 wins since he joined the team. He seems to getting the system and is starting to realize he doesn't need to win the game all by himself. I wouldn't classify Sunday as imploding. The two fumbles were breakdowns in pass blocking not him trying to be a hero. I'll give him the pick in second half. Although I wish he would have on the other side of the field, that would have been about a 15-to 20 yard gain easy. The pick at the end of the first however was godawful. With that being said, it seems for ever reason the Vikings have soured on Culpepper or at least that's how the media spins it. I think this guy is top 5 in the league and if he could be had, I don'y know. This guy is Vince Young wet dream of how his carreer might turn out. Built like a Lb, mobile, and has a gun. If you could pick him up would you.I'm kind of on the fence. I think Plummer with Owens next year would be lethal. But Culpepper is intriguing

I have always told everybody culpepper would be terrific in our system. I just blurted it out one day when me and my bro were watching them on tv. But I really believe in jake, and he going to take us all the way. If Culpepper was available the same time Jake was, I would have been rooting for the broncos to get him. But Jakes doing just fine.

I didn't know about the 100 post rule. Is there a rulebook section on the site. Was this a bad thread? You seemed to have posted in it though, is that against the rules?. Look at Culpepper over his career not just this year and I think you'll be suprised at his stats. He wasn't one of the top fantasy players year in and year out for no reason. And before I get flamed for being a fantasy geek, Culpepper has lead his team to several playoffs and has a good winning percentage. Also he might turn over the ball from time to time but Plummer if anybody is the turnover machine not Culpepper

just messing around bro.
But just say no to Pepper. Plummer is every bit as good as him imo. (Except arm strength)
He does have that big size and athletic ability that is nicem but Jake has a ton of intangibles that i love. He is a competitor and wont die until the final gun. He has a huge heart and will give his all. I dont wanna see Jake go until its obvious he just cant play anymore.

Among the many, many, many things Mock needs are: (1) his own blog and (2) some face to face interaction with flesh and blood human beings. Not just the clerks at Liquor Barn, either.
Sadly, neither one is on the horizon.

I say stick with Jake. If the Broncos overreacted with Elway's play at times where would, without two rings that's for damn sure. Not to even remotely compare Jake to Elway in any way shape or form but their stats are eerily similar in some regards. But I'm sure that were some hand wringing over reactionaries out there who would have shipped even one of the greatest of all time out of town. I just heard some murmurs of the Vikings wanting to move Culpepper and was curious what people thought. Basically if some are so dead set against Plummer and he's the reason we lost blah, blah, blah who do you get to replace him. Perhaps a better thread would have been if not Plummer then who? Also I don't want to come off as pissy about the 100 post thing but being from LA I'm a die hard Laker fan and some Laker message boards are really bitchy. Still new here trying to get a feel on how the board. Like broncosfreak but I really love this site, Espically the draft section.

Culpepper has teeny tiny hands and is a no go. Plus eis mobility is likey to be curtailed after blowing out that knee.
If we want a Vince Young lets pull an Elway style shocker with Kubes in Houston and bring the real deal in Jake could train him for a year and at the same time it would be Jakes biggest motivation yet to get to the Super Bowl NEXT YEAR and then we let Young come along when he's good and ready. :-)
Yes, I know its a total fantasy and not going to happen ... but a guy can dream after that drubbing yesterday?
Kubes could take Tatum and our two late first round picks in exchange for the new John Elway in Denver for the next 16 years. There is simply NO substitute for a class A QB that has the WHOLE package. They need more quantity of good players like an O-line than one high priced RB like Bush. Tatum and Dominque Davis would do fine behind a decent line.
Back in the real world,
We just HAVE to get the best pass rushers we can find. We need at least one proven Vet to win with next year and one young guy in the draft that can contribute and who can be a force by the playoffs and for years to come.

01-23-2006, 10:13 PM
Culpepper has not been the same since Moss left. Turnovers. Can't see the field, make the hot read, or find an open receiver to save his life. Now, he's got his knee pieced together with parts from a cadaver. I don't think he will ever play the same again. That's one physical injury that may have scarred him mentally for good.

There will be changes, but subtle ones. I dont know if we splash the market and go for Ricky or TO, but getting a playmaker on offense is painfully obvious. We need one, we need someone who the opponent fears!! Someone that they actually gameplan for.
THE DL will be revamped, not exactly by choice caz of the cap, but even so they have shown very little this season and would have been changed out anyway.

Didn't even consider it...Jake is our guy.
There is no other guy I want behind center for us more than Plummer.
Changes will always be made. Everybody is constantly striving to make their teams better or to avoid salary cap hell. We're not where we need to be all around, and plenty of moves can be made to make us better. It will be very intriguing to see how Shanny approaches this off season. I'm interested to see if this year's "Plan" exceeds expectations much like last year's did.

There will be changes. Not a complete facelift, but changes.
This team isn't run by Carl Peterson. Shanahan isn't going to say, "Well, we were 13-3 and won the division. Let's just stand pat and everything will be fine." Ask Chef fan how well that worked out for them.
Shanahan knows that this team is very close to being championship caliber and he's not gonna sit on his hands when he knows his squad is right on the cusp of greatness.

I'm not suggesting getting rid of Jake if you read my posts. I was just curious what others thought. Although he is a better option than some crap I've read on boards like Van Pelt, Matt Schaub, Cutler, etc. I expect most of our moves in the draft and maybe a middle of the free agent move. TO I think might be the only major move considered. It's not time to panick just tweak a little. To all the Plummer haters, who do want to QB?

sorry to sound so ignorant, but Culpepper is terrible, flat out a bad player, bad vision, doesnt know when to run, can't manage an offense, can't lead a team and doesnt know how to look off receivers.

actually, the pick in first half was all on the receiver, while the pick in the second half was on plummer.
the first pick was a ball thrown to a spot.
plummer threw to that spot, and unfortunately lelie never broke on the ball, which is why lelie got his ass chewed completely off when he left the field.
plummer made one really bad throw all day, and that was the second pick.
it was intended for a covered rod smith, it was behind him, and he shouldve seen the linebacker in coverage.
still, no one is perfect, and he was playing from 3 scores down.
have we STILL not realized how much different it is for a qb playing from 3 scores back?
did you catch what the all americal brady did under those circumstances?
or how about delhomme?
manning?
when youre trailing by 3 scores and your offensive line doesnt even give you time to complete your drop its gonna be kinda tough to have a great game.
fact is, plummer looked like houdini out there in the second half.
he was running for his life, and he was doing everything he could to bring the team back.
there wasnt even a HINT of quit in him.
as for culpepper, the guy is a decent qb, but he's not as good as plummer.
look what culpepper did without moss.
look ALSO at culpeppers fumbles over his career.
i know in the stat geek era qb rating is all that matters, but the FACT is that a fumble hurts the team as much or more than a pick, and culpepper fumbles more than anyone else in football.
plummer is the qb of the present and the future.
we put in place alot of pieces on defense the last couple years, and now we need to give jake one more BIG TIME target on offense.
one more guy thats capable of a 1000 yard season, and this offense will be near impossible to stop.
Bronco_Beerslug

Culpepper has completed 65% of his passes, has 135 TDs vs 86 INTs, rushed for 2500 yds and 29 TDs, is only 28, 91.5 rating and has lost 33 fumbles in 81 games.

NOW, a few stats from OUR CURRENT #2'S COLLEGE DAYS
College Career
Rare breed of athlete who has a powerful arm, is built like a linebacker and can run with the ball like a power back … Came to the Rams after spending the 1999 season at Michigan State … Missed two years of football (sat out 2000 under NCAA transfer rules) before getting a chance to play … The son of former New York Giants All-Pro linebacker, Brad Van Pelt, Bradlee moved into the starting lineup after the third game of the 2001 season … He started the next 34 games of his 38-game career, joining Bowling Green's Josh Harris (7,503 passing, 2,473 rushing) as only the eighth and ninth players in NCAA Division I-A history to throw for over 4,000 yards and rush for over 2,000 yards in a career … Completed 424 of 778 passes (54.5 percent) for 6,165 yards, 37 touchdowns and 30 interceptions … Only Moses Moreno (6,689, 1994-97), Terry Nugent (7,103, 1980-83) and Kelly Stouffer (7,141, 1984-86) threw for more yards in a career for the Rams … Ranks 19th all-time among NCAA Division I-A quarterbacks in rushing, carrying 420 times for 2,274 yards (5.4 avg.) and 25 touchdowns … His 2,274 yards rank ninth on the school's career-record list … Set a Rams' career record as he amassed 8,439 yards in total offense, surpassing the previous mark of 7,147 yards by Anthony Hill (1991-93).
Why would you want Daunte Culpepper when we've got a pine rider RIGHT NOW who is built basically the same? He's big, he can rush, and he DOESN"T FUMBLE THE BALL! Sure, he hasn't shown us too much yet, but he's only thrown the ball 8 times in his professional (rookie) career here.
We need to stop worrying about QB's for now. We've got a VERY capable man at the helm now, and a QB in training who's gonna step up whenever the call comes

We need to stop worrying about QB's for now. We've got a VERY capable man at the helm now, and a QB in training who's gonna step up whenever the call comes

Examine B*nds the choke artist's number prior to BALCO in 2001 and he's not in the top 50 players of all time.
I gave up on baseball after free agency, and then this bs makes it even worse. It's a forgone conclusion, I don't even know why anyone would watch the regular season outside of gambling. That said, fk bonds, to, clarrett, paris hilton, actressing trying to sing, singers trying to act, re-hashed bad tv shows trying to be movies, fair weather fans, incompetent leadership, the off-season, and mostly the raiders.
OUT!!!!!

Isnt there a 100 post rule to make new threads??
No. You think that your caca doesn't stink, that you're better than other people because of your historic activity? You think that the news of Culpepper's possible trade activity isn't worthy of placement on this board?
Note -- I don't have 100 posts either, assclown
