Watching this team, there were alot of wins that were ugly, especially at home. This team was really good, but not great. Not like the Super Bowl teams, that blew people out left and right.

The win at home vs the Chargers was so close, but Champ made the big play and the rest is history. I still had alot of doubts though. We barely got by the Cowboys on Thanksgiving, Champ had another TD in that game. The win over the Ravens was disgusting, but a W is a W right, well I guess so, but that is when I got worried about us in the playoffs. Boller gave us that game. The W over the Raiders at home was to easy to get excited about, but then we went down to SD, and crushed the Chargers, again our defense lead the way. The W over the Patriots in the playoffs was nice, but it was an ugly win decided by our All-Pro Corner.

The point is that our defense was the difference in most of these games. But they couldn't get off the field in the first half yesterday, and our gameplan was unable to match the Steelers production. This post-season, our backs only avg 4 yards per carry. The passing game has gotta be opened up, and revitalized. To win it all, our offense has got to score more points, and this postseason, our offense was pretty ugly.

My question is, if we are gonna win the SuperBowl, do we want Jake Plummer the free wheeling QB gunning the ball around like in 2004, or the conservative Jake Plummer that lead us to 13 wins. I think we need to open up the offense, and use our weapons more. Ashley Lelie's production was way down this year, despite his yards per catch. Why not throw to him even more?

All that said, scoring was up in 2005 for us, because we turned the ball over so much less. That's great in the regular season, but when your defense is giving up points, we need to answer. Maybe it was just yesterday, but Jake looked terrible to me, his balls were flapping, he grossly underthrew Lelie on the TD, and I don't know wtf he was thinking at the end of the 1st half.

What should we change in the offense?

Philosophy?

Personell?

Nothing?

What I think we should change is our philosophy and personell on 3rd down. We have gotta get a 3rd WR and spread out defenses. Using 2 TEs is not working. I would also like to see the Shotgun used more. I think we have some decent WRs, they can't be much worse than watching Alexander lumber down field on 3rd and 7.

I agree that we need to sling the ball around a bit more.

But with that said, we need to bring in another playmaker at WR to give us a legit threat.
