These ladies are unbelieveable, now they think it was fair catch interference on Troy Brown's muff... and when I say muff I mean him droping the punt, not the one between his legs.

Jesus..once the ball hits the ground it's all fair game. These wimps are something else!

It was close. It seems the Bronco player hits him just as he drops it. It could have gone either way. However, it is the playoffs, and you have to make those plays. The reason they were in such a precarious position was because they had all the other TOs. So to blame the ref is shortsighted because their team got punk'd and it will get again if they do not improve.

What I say to The Pats fans I know: 5 turnovers kept you from winning, not the refs.

No need to worry about Pat fans.

They are whining that Brown got hit after he muffed it initially. I don't think that is an argument as I thought if you drop it you are fair game.

In that earlier steelers game a fumble was reversed to Fair catch interference on field becuase the punt returner has the right to catch the ball untill it hits the ground if he signals fair catch. Thats what they are complaining about. I don't remember if the ball was close to the ground or not in Sat's game but Thats the issue they are talking about

I don't want to become a member of the pats board, but this is the "Fair Catch Rule" as written by the NFL.

http://www.nfl.com/fans/rules/faircatch

Fair Catch
1. The member of the receiving team must raise one arm a full length above his head and wave it from side to side while kick is in flight. (Failure to give proper sign: receivers’ ball five yards behind spot of signal.) Note: It is legal for the receiver to shield his eyes from the sun by raising one hand no higher than the helmet.

2. No opponent may interfere with the fair catcher, the ball, or his path to the ball. Penalty: 15 yards from spot of foul and fair catch is awarded.

3. A player who signals for a fair catch is not required to catch the ball. However, if a player signals for a fair catch, he may not block or initiate contact with any player on the kicking team until the ball touches a player. Penalty: snap 15 yards.

4. If ball hits ground or is touched by member of kicking team in flight, fair catch signal is off and all rules for a kicked ball apply.

5. Any undue advance by a fair catch receiver is delay of game. No specific distance is specified for undue advance as ball is dead at spot of catch. If player comes to a reasonable stop, no penalty. For penalty, five yards.

6. If time expires while ball is in play and a fair catch is awarded, receiving team may choose to extend the period with one fair catch kick down. However, placekicker may not use tee.

Note that there is NO prescribed "halo" of 3 or 5 yards and that as soon as the ball is touched by Denver, the Fair Catch is off...

These guys need to get a life.

for kicks I pulled out the game footage...he was not interfered with at all. I happened with 10:10 left in the 4th quarter and had plenty of room to make the catch.

Ok...the refs were wrong...maybe...well they weren't but even if they were...there ain't nothing that can be done about it now. Shut up go home and cry...stupid New England people go take Ted Kenedy and jump off a bridge.

It's because Pats fans have been fans of football for only a short time. That's why they don't know anything.

They're bitching about the "halo rule".

News flash! There's no halo rule in the NFL, nor is there one in college football anymore.

Bill Simmons whining at length, and insincerely trying to mix in some "but the Broncos deserved to win" stuff. The whining that bothers me the most is about the Champ pick because it was a great play made by Champ and they're relying on a bail-out call.

I totally agree about that. Their complaints about that play are the most pathetic. Champ Bailey makes an all-world interception and return and their player happens to catch up with him at the 1 yard line and force the ball out. If the ball happened to go through the endzone, based on a rule that is kind of weird when you think about it, the Pats get the ball back. In other words, if that call goes the other way, the Pats are the luckiest team on the face of the earth, because they dodged the results of their own horrible play based on an obscure rule many of them probably knew nothing about before this week, and a lucky bounce. Somehow they turn this all on its head and make the Broncos out as the lucky ones so they can go on crying in their chowda.

Time to move on folks. The Pats can whine they have nothing better to do. Denver has a game Sunday!!

I agree. Now they are just the Chargers, Chiefs, Raiders, Cowboys, etc.
Teams we had to beat to get the the AFCCG.

I love it. They are slowly spinning the game into the theory that they actually won it. Everything that they did wrong was actually a conspiracy of the refs. Losers. :giggle:

Yeah they just had the game on the NFL Network again, Devoe was at least a yard or two away from Brown when he muffed the kick. Just more whining by Pats fans.

Actually i kinda thought the same thing when the play first happened....

As soon as Troy bobbled the ball blue jerseys immediately got involved and some could actually argue that it was interference....

however...

after seeing the replay again i changed my mind.....as soon as troy showed he was struggling with it...devoe was heads up in jumping right on in to get the ball...

bottom line is troy should've secured the ball immediately instead of bobbling it...

plus i think it's a little late to start questioning this....why wouldn't this be brought up days ago?

i thought belichek was gonna challenge the play...then again maybe it's not reviewable..

NE was out of challenges they won the overturned Plummer interception and lost the Champ Bailey fumble out of the endzone, so they had already used up both challenges and lost one which means they didn't get an extra challenge.
