Is the jinx alive or not? Jerome Bettis was on last weeks issue. Perhaps the jinx has been reversed.

The dreaded SI cover jinx is certain doom. Look at the hell it played with Michael Jordan's career.

Yep. The Jan 23rd issue has Hasselbeck, while, as the other poster stated, last week had Bettis.

Cripes. Hopefully Rothlessburger's (phonetic spelling) tackle reversed the jinx. I still remember coming home from school and a copy of SI waiting for me. The great John Elway was on the cover...with the caption "We'll show up"...in regards to their matchup with that tremendous 49'ers team that trounced the Donks in the superbowl.
*Mods I propose that any time anyone on the orangemane references The Great John Elway that they face immediate expulsion if they do not phrase it as I have here...a la...From here on out John Elway is to be known as The Great John Elway. Thank you.*

Big Ben has a bad thumb, see this SI jinx stuff is already getting good and will get even better this weekend. Hasselbeck was born to be on the cover of SI - his middle name is JINXIE.

Kobe was put on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Shortly after that, he turned into a douchebag. It can happen to anyone!

I cleared the entire database of them awhile ago... when we had all the starting player names linked up. I should add that back, huh?

Some of it works...
John Elway or Elway = The Great John Elway
Larry Johnson = Diaperboy
Peyton Manning = Potatohead

I've saved every SI with Elway on the cover (my wife thinks I am crazy). There was a version years ago that had a list of who made the cover the most, and I think Elway was in the top 5 (I think Jordan was number 1, Ali was high, etc.) and I was able to check that I had them all. Somehow he still won 2 SBs. SI started boring me about 4 years ago and I cut the thread.
But heck, I still have a little cut-out from the Oakland Trib (I was living in the bay area at the time) that said "Elway traded to Denver". I had it up in my on my office bulletin boards for years. I knew at the time I saw it that the Broncs were going to be a power to be reckoned with for years.

Sports Illustrated? What's that? ???
Really, I know...but I haven't ventured near one since Denver won it's last Super Bowl.........seriously. I mean really, why bother? ???

SI is worthless. I've never read anything in there that looked like it took any effort. I bought a tivo machine at Best Buy a few weeks ago and they gave me 6 free issues of SI. I've received two issues and am already planning on canceling the rest; Totally worthless.

Even the swim suit issue is boring compared to what one can find on a Broncos Cheerleader calendar. 'SI for Kids' - now there is some quality material.

SI really made themselves look bad when they put Brady & Manning on the cover in anticipation of their Monday Night matchup instead of the White Sox, who had just won the World Series. That was a joke.

They are using regional covers, but technically, Jake is on the "national" cover. So they are trying to jinx him more than the others.

At least they had the decency to put all 4 QB’s on the cover, cause you know if they didn’t who was on the cover and lost would blame SI

The only one I have is the one where Reiley(sp?) did a 5 or 6 page story on him. I read it at the beginning of every season.

The Broncos no longer are flying under the radar. Quarterback Jake Plummer will be on the cover of the national version of this week's Sports Illustrated. There will be regional covers for the other conference finalists.

i sure hope so.
i dont like it, but whatever.
like plummer himself said, the important thing is that the team stay focussed
and believe in eachother, and we as fans believe in them.
nothing else matters.
